Hoover Family Dentistry has always had patient care as top priority, offering people of all ages quality dental care.The team has been at their current location since January 2007. Prior to building his office, Dr. Hoover was an associate in other dental practices and provided oral surgery for Affordable Dentures in Baton Rouge, LA. From the beginning of his career, working with the Hammond State School, Dr. Hoover has proven his commitment to dental health for all. Working with those with special needs was a passion in the beginning that continues on as Dr. Hoover and his team provide care for those with special needs in his office today.
Dr. Hoover was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. He then worked for 11 years as a microbiologist for Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Following his tenure at LSU, he entered LSU Health Sciences Dental Program in New Orleans, Louisiana and there earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Hoover chose to further his Dental Surgery training and was one of six accepted into a 2-year, hospital based Dental Surgery residency (GPR) at Big Charity Hospital in New Orleans. It was here that Dr. Hoover began his journey into oral surgery. Dr. Hoover provides advanced bone grafting procedures enabling patients to receive implants in areas that were deficient in bone and otherwise could not support implants.
Also, because of his advanced dental training, Dr. Hoover treats medically compromised patients, special needs patients, and utilizes IV sedation. Dr. Hoover travels nationally and internationally in an attempt to keep current on the latest dental surgery techniques as well as on all of the various techniques used in dentistry.
Born and raised in Gonzales, Louisiana. Mother of 1 son and grandmother of four. Terrie holds certifications in medical and nursing assistant (CNA). Terrie is also trained in phlebotomy and is ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certified. Terrie worked in the medical field for many years as a phlebotomist at Lakeview Regional Hospital in Covington, Louisiana and as a medical and nursing assistant in Home health prior to working at Hoover Family Dentistry. Terrie is the office manager at Hoover Family Dentistry.
Born and raised in Independence, LA, and the mother of one son. A graduate of Delta College in 2014 and of LSU School of Dentistry's advanced EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assisting) state certification. Having worked with Dr. Hoover since 2014, she is trained in advanced medical billing for dental practices, IV conscious sedation, ACLS (advanced cardiac life support), BLS (basic life support), Phlebotomy, PRP (platelet rich plasma), bone grafting, and fixed and removable prosthodontics. Along with assisting Dr. Hoover in general, surgical, and IV Sedation procedures, Brittany handles all of the office's insurance and billing.
Born in Ponchatoula and resides in near Hammond. A graduate of Delta College in 2015 and of LSU School of Dentistry's advanced EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assisting) state certification. Having worked with Dr. Hoover since 2015, she is trained in IV conscious sedation, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), Phlebotomy, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), bone grafting, and fixed and removable prosthodontics. Kayli is Dr. Hoover's primary surgical assistant and various other procedures.
Born and raised in south Texas. Worked in safety in the chemical plant industry prior to dentistry. Vanessa is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), X-Ray, and Phlebotomy(PRP). Vanessa assist Dr. Hoover in surgery and various dental procedures. Vanessa is also bilingual, speaking Spanish and English.
Born in Houston and resides in near Hammond., Jennifer, RDH, grew up in the Lone Star State, but she has lived in Tangipahoa Parish since 1996. Jennifer obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from LSU School of Dentistry in 2007 and began work with Dr. Hoover the same year, later marrying her husband in 2012. She has her local anesthesia certificate and BLS. Jennifer is responsible for preventive care and maintenance at Hoover Family Dentistry.
Born in Honduras she now lives in Baton Rouge, and is a mother of two. Mayra was in Army National Guard from 1985-1991, where she served as a dental assistant and finished her Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene at LSU Dental School. Specializing in periodontal (gum disease) cases and implant maintenance, Mayra has been working with Dr. Hoover since 2007. She has a local anesthesia certificate, BLS, ACLS and is certified in phlebotomy and PRP (platelet rich plasma). Mayra is also bilingual, speaking Spanish and English.
She lives in Independence with her six children, three boys and three girls. She is the proud grandmother of seven. Born and raised in Metairie, Dana graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2002. She is a Registered Nurse at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge. Dana assists Dr. Hoover with the administering of IV Sedation at Hoover Family Dentistry and has worked with Dr. Hoover since 2009. She has her BLS, ACLS, PALS and IV Conscious Sedation certifications.

Wonder Dentist, great staff and I must say Doc is an all around great person indeed! As a result of a freak accident I had a full mouth extraction. Wow right. Devastating but in no time my life was restored almost as plesent as my teeth. Unbelievable how they look as if nothing happened. So grateful for his staff and of course Doc!

Where to begin, I came from NJ and did NOT have a good dentist their! Long story short, I let my teeth go due to the fear from my last two dentist. I moved to Louisiana and looked up dentist here. I was so scared! But I was in so much pain! I have had teeth pulled with no numbing medicine in NJ so this caused my fear! I meant this dentist, he said I needed a root canal and a few cavities to fill. I explained my fear and he was so gentle and understanding with me! When he started the procedure I DID NOT FEEL THE NEEDLES! Nope not even a pinch! (I can NOT take pain!) He filled my cavities then did my root canal. All within an hr which seemed like minutes! NO PAIN DURNING or AFTER! No pain when the numbing medicine wore off! I finally was out of tooth pain and I have been in that tooth pain for years! He is a painless, caring, gentle , loving dentist that takes his time! I was so Emotional and shocked over no pain I actually cried after, looked at the doctor and said "Thank you"! If you want a dentist that is painless and cares about his patients this is the doctor to go to! I will be back to finish all my other teeth! Best Dentist around!

This has to be the best Dental office I have ever been to ! I went to have a broken tooth pulled, usually that causes a lot of pain. The Novocaine injections are usually the worst of all, but with Dr. Hoover's staff even that wasn't very painful. I am an older man and I have been to many dentists, but Dr. Hoover is to me the best there is !

Dr. Hoover is the best dentist I have ever had I'm usually very nervous when it comes to the dentist but with doctor Hoover I'm not I haven't had no work yet but that's because I have a really bad abscess and he doesn't wanna pull it if he can't get it done I've never had a dentist who goes the extra mile to make sure you aren't gonna be in pain he also wants to make sure your comfy and cozy just like at home and he will talk to you about any topic you bring up he is super amazing and I don't have anything bad to say about him

Dr. Hoover and his staff are exceptional. They are all very friendly and caring and take very good care of you. They make you feel very comfortable. Dr. Hoover is very gentle and does very good work. He's the best Dentist that I've ever been to!

Dr. Hoover is a good dentist; however don't expect for your appointment to be on time. Every single time I've come here, the appointment is an hour and a half or more late. Staff has no regards for a person's time and obviously schedule appointments which cannot be kept.
