Dr. Jay Marley was born and raised in Homer, Alaska. In 1992 he graduated from Homer High School and earned the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America: the Eagle Scout. In 1996 he graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology. The following four years he attended dental school at Case Western Reserve University and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in May of 2000. Upon graduation he received the award from Delta Sigma Dental Fraternity for outstanding Scholastic Attainment and was recognized by the faculty of CWRU with an award for Outstanding Achievement in Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Marley is a third generation dentist. His office in Homer was established in 1967 by his father and was Homer's first full-time dental office. It has been in continuous service ever since with Dr. Jay Marley joining in August 2000.

Dr. Marley enjoys family dentistry with a dedicated interest to surgery and oral implantology. The remote nature of his practice in Homer has attributed to the incorporation of many advanced dental procedures and techniques. He has attended the Surgical Fellowship Program at the world renowned Misch International Implant Institute and has been awarded Fellowship status there as well as from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for his achievements in implant dentistry. Most recently, Dr. Marley was awarded the title of Diplomate in the ICOI. It is the highest honor a professional society can bestow on a dental professional involved with implant dentistry. In addition, Dr. Marley has pursued advanced training and is licensed to provide intravenous (IV) sedation. He continues to pursue world-class education for oral implantology and other dental subjects.

Dr. Marley is an active member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental Association, Alaska Dental Society and the Kenai/Kodiak Dental Society. He has served as president and treasurer of the Kenai/Kodiak Dental Society and on the executive council of the Alaska Dental Society.

Outside of the office, Dr. Marley enjoys a variety of activities including fishing, boating, hiking, cycling, kayaking, camping, skiing, snow machining, photography, and flying. He is a commercially rated pilot holding single engine land, sea, and instrument ratings with high performance, complex and tail-wheel endorsements. Dr. Marley lives in Homer with his loving wife, Erica and their three children.

Dr. John Anderson was born and raised in Anchorage, where he graduated from Dimond High School in 1978. He spent every summer with his family at their homestead in Hope, just across the Turnigan Arm. When not tending to the farm and the animals, he was fishing, hiking, or running.

He went on to attend college in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Oral Roberts University, where he graduatedMagna Cum Laudewith a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Chemistry. The next four years were spent at the University of Washington Dental School, and in 1988 he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

He then took his young family to California and settled in Orange County where he raised three children. There he worked in many practice settings, including private practice for 15 years, and also 8 years as Dental Director for a Community Health Center in San Bernardino County. Every year he would bring his children up to Alaska to visit his parents and sister in Homer and Cooper Landing, and would long for the day when he would return to his home state.

Dr. Anderson is pleased to join Homer Dental Clinic, Dr. Marley, and his staff at this high quality, cutting edge practice. He brings his special skills in treating children and frightened patients, performing difficult extractions and wisdom teeth removal, and cosmetic and general dentistry.

Sue has been working with Dr. Marley for over a decade. She graduated at the Lane Community College in 1995. She is extremely committed to her patients and shows great concern for their individual needs. Sue loves her career choice, and it shows.She has been immensely impressed with Dr. Marley's skill level and has enjoyed watching as he has advanced so successfully into the surgical field of dentistry.Sue moved to Alaska in 2001. She has a son who is a world champion Jiu Jitsu wrestler. She enjoys fishing trips and traveling with her adoring husband, Charlie. Her other interests are hiking, gardening, cooking, reading, and playing with her 3 dogs.

MacKenzie grew up in New Hampshire and attended the University of New England. She graduated in 2017 with a bachelor of science in Dental Hygiene. She met her husband in Maine and lived there for 3 years. They recently moved to Homer and are excited to get to know the community better. MacKenzies mother is a dental hygienist and the person who inspired her to become a hygienist as well. MacKenzie cannot wait to build relationships with her patients and help them achieve what they want for their dentistry goals, needs and health. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and getting outdoors with her two dogs.

Hanna grew up in Eastern Oregon where she met and married her high school sweetheart. They moved to Idaho where they added their first baby, Jake the Boxer dog! Hanna worked as a CNA in hospital settings for 6 years prior to moving to Homer in July of 2018. She joined the Homer Dental Clinic team in September of 2018 and is a highly valued Dental Assistant. She loves living and working in the community and is happy to be able to help people reach peak dental health. Some of her hobbies include cooking, baking and taking Jake for walks on the beach, if you see them out playing say hi!

Benay is originally from the Homer area. She moved away for a few years to live in Michigan and Kodiak after meeting her husband, who was in the U.S Coast Guard. Benay has worked in various dental settings over the past decade including private practice, military health care and contract dental staffing. Benay has been a part of our team here at The Homer Dental Clinic since 2012, taking time off to have her children. She has an energetic and creative 8 year old son and a sweet & spunky 1 year old daughter. When she is not at work you will find Benay spending time with her family playing at the beach or on the hiking trail. She also loves to bake new masterpieces in the kitchen or immerse herself in a good book. She brings her small town charm and humor to work with her every day and takes pride in getting to know her patients and seeing them succeed at their dental goals.

Tessa started working for Dr. Marley in October of 2018 after moving to Homer from Montana. She loves her job and enjoys the commitment to perfection that this office strives for. She really enjoys genuine conversations with the patients. Tessa met her husband Travis here in Homer, and together they have a baby girl, Tasmin. They have started a family operated fishing charter business. Tessa and her family love taking their two dogs to the beach, fly fishing, snow machining, and fishing on their charter boat.

Erica Marley was raised in Anchorage Alaska where she graduated from A.J. Dimond High School before pursuing a college degree out of state. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, MN with a Bachelor of Arts in Geology. After returning to Alaska in the year 2000, Erica finished a Masters Degree in Public Health at UAA that included specific training in Healthcare Administration. Erica has been working as the lead Business Administrator at Homer Dental Clinic since 2002. She is married to Dr. Jay Marley and they have three growing boys at home. The whole family embraces an Alaskan lifestyle and spends a lot of time fishing, hunting and at their cabin on Lake Clark. Erica also enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and exercise.

Simyra is the face of our clinic, her cheerful and witty personality has made her a crucial part of our Dental Team. She has over 20 years of wisdom and knowledge in customer care, with people from all over the world. Originally born in Alberta, Canada she has dual citizenship but has been part of our Homer community for two decades. In addition to being a skilled wilderness naturalist guide, she is an avid reader of historic and international literature. We are pleased that she is a part of our Dental Family and encourage you to use her as an excellent resource for all of your dental needs/concerns and questions.

Lisa joined Homer Dental Clinic in July of 2019 where she works as a Business Administrative Assistant that specializes in insurance billing and patient accounting. Lisa enjoys helping patients understand and utilize their insurance benefits. She has worked in an office setting for many years and is always ready to be of service where she can. She and her husband Lane moved to the Kenai Peninsula in February of 2019 from Arkansas where they had a small farm learning sustainability, which they hope to continue learning in the great state of Alaska. Her hobbies include raising dairy goats and other small livestock along with gardening, canning and preserving foods. She is looking forward to foraging for, harvesting and using all of the resources Alaska is famous for. Stop in and say hello to her when you are visiting the office.

I started going to Dr. Marley's office because I heard so many good things about Sue Baxter, his hygienist, and I love her! Dr Marley is an excellent dentist, and I have had some complicated issues that he has done an amazing job with. He is a perfectionist. :)
