Dr. Magalhaes was born and raised in southeastern Massachusetts. After earning a Bachelors Degree in Public Health from UMass Amherst, he attended the University of New England College of Dental Medicine in Portland Maine. While in dental school, Dr. Magalhaes solidified his passion for public health and service, providing dental care to underserved communities in rural towns of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. He returned to southern New England, practicing in Rhode Island before moving back to the South Shore to be closer to family after the birth of his first child.
Dr. Magalhaes is excited to be a part of the team at Hollis Dentistry, as he shares Dr. Hollis passion for modern dentistry, materials, and techniques, and is always focusing on providing the best care for his patients.
Dr. Magalhaes lives on the South Shore with his wife, daughter, and two golden retrievers. Outside of the office, he spends his time on the beach with his family, is an avid sports fan, and has the same passion for cooking as he has for dentistry! You can often find Dr. Magalhaes and his wife enjoying South Shore coffee shops and restaurants.

I enjoy going to the dentist ...said no one ever ! However, your office makes the experience as good as it gets. Cheerfully greeted as I entered, all costs and charges fully explained, brought into the chair quickly. Loved that they checked my temp and made sure I had a mask on too ! Doctor came right in, on time, no waiting, was extremely thorough and explained my "problem" in precise detail while sharing the x-rays that were taken. Left the office feeling confident that I was fully listened to and that my upcoming procedure will be flawless. Great experience !

While speaking with a close friend over the weekend I was raving about Dr. Hollis and the entire staff at Hollis Dentistry. At one point stating "I love going to the dentist". My husband, also a patient, laughed out loud and said "you didn't go to the dentist for 10 years when our children were young and now you love going to the dentist"? He couldn't believe it. My fear of going to the dentist was real! Honestly, I can't believe it either. Thanks to Dr. Hollis, my amazing hygienist and Jean my experience at the dentist is always friendly, welcoming, caring and SAFE, which is a priority for everyone during this crazy pandemic. Dr. Hollis has handled this pandemic with patient and staff safety as a priority. Dr. Hollis used every safety precaution available from hand sanitation areas, the setup of the waiting room, taking my temperature and blood oxygen level, goggles for staff and patients, plus much more. I felt completely safe during my entire visit. My family feels lucky to belong to such a caring, professional dental practice, that makes us feel more like family than patients.

Just wanted to say that I really like having Alex do my cleanings. She is great and very personable. She always asks me about my family and my volunteer efforts, vacation trips, etc. Makes for a comfortable and relaxing visit. I appreciate the time and efforts you are taking during COVID and hope that soon things can get back to "normal" or at least a new normal.

If you are looking for a dentist in the area, please check out Dr. Hollis. Had a filling replaced last week and the experience was easy. I sometimes get stressed with dental work so if you do you know what I mean. Office was professional and friendly.

Dr. Hollis himself called me the day before my appointment to make sure I was feeling OK and didn't have any symptoms of Covid and said feel free to contact us in the morning to cancel if I didn't feel well. From the moment I walked in the door my health and safety was the priority.
