Dr. Michael Holbert is passionate about creating beautiful, healthy smiles for his patients. He enjoys getting to know his patients on a personal level and learning about what they expect from orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Holbert received his Bachelor of Science from Penn State University. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Dr. Holbert went on to obtain a Master of Dental Science and orthodontic certificate from the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Holbert is also an associate professor in the Department of Orthodontics at VCU School of Dentistry. He enjoys interacting with the orthodontic residents and sharing his knowledge while staying abreast of the latest trends within the orthodontic field of dentistry.

Dr. Holbert is an active member of several Richmond, VA dental and orthodontic study clubs. The study clubs provide a great opportunity to collaborate with dental colleagues and specialists about addressing the needs of their shared patients. Additionally, Dr. Holbert attends national and regional meetings of the American Association of Orthodontists to stay current with the latest orthodontic treatment techniques and new technologies.
Dr. Holbert met his wife, Paige, in dental school and they have two amazing boys. Following dental school, Dr. Holbert and Paige traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal to serve with a dental mission program. While there, he and Paige were able to hike to the Mount Everest base camp, where he proposed.
He loves spending time with his family and being outdoors. You can find him hiking, biking and running on the Buttermilk and North Bank trails of the James River Park System. He is an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoys playing guitar and singing in the Lifestyle band.

I interviewed five orthodontists when I was looking. Dr. Holbert came highly recommended by my dentist. He took the time to listen to my questions and find a better way to solve our issues. The drive is a little longer but well worth it. The staff knows the patients and they are always willing to take the time to help. I have enjoyed the feel of a small environment where you are not just a number. I will be taking my second child in soon!
We chose Dr. Holbert based on two families recommendations, pricecomparison for services that another family had done, and central location of office. We have been very pleased, not only with the services provided, but also with pleasant and helpful personalities at the office, from the orthodontist to the admin team. Very good experience so far.

I am very happy with the Holbert Family Orthodontics I came there with my 2 teenage boys and since the initial consultation they were very caring, informative and patient with my indecisiveness. They are not only excellent at what they do, but also the whole office is clean, happy and they are using the highest medical technology. You can tell, that Dr. Holbert provides very nice work environment for his coworkers and cares about them (including providing the special exercising ball seats the technicians, and the doctor himself, are using to sit on while assisting to their patients, to prevent back pain). I really like that, because bending down all day can make your back really hurt! We finally have started the orthodontist treatment for both of our boys last month and we are feeling very good about the decision, including the patients , who are totally on board with it! We absolutely love this office and its staff. Everyone is extremely helpful and professional. You feel like you're in great hands during your visit. Assistant Ashley did my daughters initial visit and she was very thorough and explained the Invisalign process to us.

Choosing to get Invisalign braces with Holbert Family Orthodontics was literally one of the best choices I've made for myself. No exaggeration. Just FACT! It's funny because I joke that I forget that I'm an adult sometimes and that it took me so long to do this! And I'm not just talking about correcting the appearance of my smile but actually treating the misalignment that caused problems with teeth grinding, jaw clenching, nasal breathing, and even vestibular function! The staff is very caring and patient. They take time and don't pressure you to make any quick decisions. When discussing financials, they are very understanding and flexible to help you choose a payment plan/option that is right for YOU! Whenever I go to my appointments, Dr. Holbert is always cool, calm, friendly, and efficient! There are multiple chairs set up as an open concept, and I once overheard Dr. H coach an anxious kid to help him relax during his appointment while he was making some kind of adjustments. His soothing tone and relaxed demeanor is super effective to people who may get the orthodontic jitters! 10/10 would recommend their services, and I'm super glad I did it! Oh, and I love my smile too! :)

I waited until almost 50 YOA to get invisiligns/braces. The care I receive at Holbert Family Orthodontics is kind, professional, and experienced. So far my results have been better than I expected.
