Dr. Andrew Hinkle is a native of the Washington DC area, growing up in the McLean community where he now practices dentistry. After attending Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., Dr. Hinkle completed his undergraduate degree in Biology with a concentration in health care ethics at Villanova University. In 2011, he received his dental degree from the University of Maryland Dental School where he completed an oral surgery clerkship focusing on oral maxillofacial surgery and implant dentistry. Upon graduation, he joined his father, Dr. Alan Hinkle, in his established dental practice. In 2018, Dr. Alan Hinkle retired and Andrew has continued the tradition of a practice renowned for its integrity, comprehensive care, and devotion to the patients.
Dr. Hinkle continued his postgraduate education at the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle Washington. The Kois Center is a postgraduate didactic and clinical continuing education program with the goal of improving the lives of patients by providing dentists with predictable, evidence-based dental strategies that enable them to deliver the highest level of patient care. After years of education, training, and clinical work, Dr. Hinkle has recently achieved the level of Mentor at the prestigious Kois Center! In order to achieve this, Andrew attended 13 different courses learning how to deliver the latest advances in esthetics, implants, and restorative dentistry. In 2018, Andrew completed the course curriculum and was recognized as a Graduate. While this was an excellent achievement, Andrew did not stop there and elected to pursue a higher level of education and strove to reach the level of Mentor. Kois Center Mentors are graduates who display a thorough and working knowledge of the complex dental concepts and methods. By completing the requirements for mentor status (written examinations, oral presentations, and case presentations), future students within the Kois Program can look to Andrew for guidance and instructional advice as one of the preeminent dental authorities within the curriculum.
Along with his dedication to dentistry, service to the less fortunate is an integral part of Dr. Hinkles life. Providing compassionate care to all is a driving force behind his passion for dentistry. Dr. Hinkle has worked with Habitat for Humanity and has made numerous international service trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippines. Locally, he volunteers at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic, a clinic dedicated to helping the less fortunate. Optimal oral health plays a vital role in each individuals well-being, and Dr. Hinkle considers himself privileged to be able to provide dentistry to those in his community and beyond.
Dr. Hinkle is committed to educating his patients, listening to their concerns, and encouraging questions. He excels in esthetic and restorative dentistry and is dedicated to creating individualized, gorgeous smiles. Whether it is general care, a smile makeover, or a full-mouth rehabilitation, Dr. Hinkle thrives on making people feel confident and empowered by their smiles. Anne holds a Bachelors of Science in Sociology and a Minor in Social Work from Radford University. She wears many hats around the office with responsibilities ranging from handling accounting, managing human resources, overseeing operations, answering phones, and (most importantly) helping patients. Anne says her work is rewarding because at the end of her shift shes had the chance to make a real impact in someones life in a positive, healthy way. She also loves establishing real connections with patients. Anne had been a patient at Hinkle Dentistry for nearly two decades. She really loved the office and the team. When our administrative position became available, she jumped at the opportunity! Anne decided to re-enter the working world after previously retiring. (Were so glad she did.) If she didnt have to work, Anne says shed probably spend most of her time traveling the world. She enjoys cooking, watching sports, and decorating the office for the holidays particularly Halloween and Mardi Gras.
Denise holds an Associates and Applied Science degree from Kellogg Community College. She earned a Bachelors in Health Management from Spring Arbor University. For nearly 30 years, Denise has been helping people have healthy smiles. During that time, shes come to meet and develop relationships with so many special people. Denise says its her patients and coworkers who keep her coming back to the office each day. She truly loves making her patients more systemically healthy. Denise chose a career in dentistry in part because of her own dental issues as a child and teenager. Correcting her issues had a dramatic effect on improving her self-esteem and that led her to a job in the dental health field. When you meet Denise, youll find that shes funny, a team player, empathetic, and outgoing. Shes the director of the Seattle Study Club. When shes not working, Denise enjoys spending time with her husband of nearly two decades and her teenage son. She also likes hiking with her two German Shepherds.
Adriana received her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Virginia Community College. She has been in Dentistry for more than eight years and brings with her a passion for educating patients in the connection between oral health and overall health. She believes that regular preventive dental care can improve confidence and quality of life and shes excited to provide this level of care in her new dental home! As you get to know Adriana, you will find shes a thoughtful and caring person who is determined to provide the best possible patient experience, using the most up-to-date methodologies and technology. When shes not in the office, she can be found working out, hiking, exploring new local restaurants, and spending time with her boyfriend.3
Elissa has an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from Palm Beach Junior College and a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Florida. She has been a part of the Hinkle Dentistry family since 1990, when she joined as a Dental Hygienist. After 28 years of practicing with the Hinkle Team, she has retired from practicing dental hygiene, and has joined the administrative team as a Patient Coordinator. She continues to be kind, compassionate and dedicated to her patients. She makes a priority of really getting to know people on a personal level. When shes not helping patients at the office, Elissa is probably traveling somewhere interesting with her husband, a retired CIA officer (especially if there is a cruise involved). Shes passionate about cooking Greek cuisine and is an avid collector of vintage Hummel figurines. Elissa has two daughters; one a UVA grad teaching 5th grade in Arlington County, and the other a CNU grad working for Booz Allen & Hamilton as a government contractor and a photographer.

Buyer beware! First the good - I agree with many of the other reviews, this was a lovely office, the team was very nice, and I thought the care was very good. However, despite asking before my visit if Hinkle Denistry took my insurance (the receptionist said they did), I found out at the end of my visit that I should have read the "fine print" in their financial disclosure. They are pay for performance, which means you have to immediately pay for the service (which was $800 for first visit consultation, standard xrays, and cleaning) before getting your insurance to cover and they are out of network for all insurance companies. I have pretty good insurance, usually fully covers this type of service and I only received ~$150 from insurance coverage. When I complained to Hinkle Dentistry, they offered a $200 rebate, but that does not even cover half of the costs. If I had known the costs going in, I would not have come to this dentist; so despite the good care, unless you are willing to pay high prices, I recommend you go elsewhere until Hinkle Dentistry affiliates with insurance carriers.

Hinkle dentistry truly puts the patient first to the point that my teeth cleaning almost felt like a spa experience! Dr. Hinkle is an artist. My teeth look better than I thought possible. The office is extremely well organized-everyone is very knowledgeable, timely and beyond kind and polite. I highly recommend this practice in every way!

Dr. Hinkle and his staff are top notch. They are not only highly skilled and trained but they are excellent for busy adults who appreciate expediency. They are waiting for you when you arrive, have your entire health history online to speed you through the process, and you finalize your next appointment before you even leave the chair. That plus the (optional) warm blanket and headphones makes going to the dentist a LOT less "painful".

The Hinkle Dental practice is excellent, the best I have experienced in my 40+ years of Metro area experience with several other dental practices. My dental hygienist, Denise (1 of 2) is efficient in all of the necessary cleaning procedures, but really shines in terms of asking questions at every visit, taking nothing for granted based on my records. Dr. Hinkle has treated me for five years in coordination with my visits to a periodontist for dental implants. All of my procedures have been performed well and when I was concerned about a sore in my mouth, getting a same-day appointment was easy. I have experienced several actinic keratosis problems on my lip; and as a child I was administered nasopharyngeal, radium treatments for tonsils, so the dental examinations at every visit to the Hinkle practice have resassured me. From what I have experienced, this dental practice is the best of the best.

The entire staff is extremely friendly and professional and makes your visits a very pleasant experience. They're frequently updating their equipment to ensure they're using the best technology possible for your dental care. Can't recommend this place enough!

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Hinkle Dentistry for about seven years. This is one of, if not the best, dentists I've ever known. The office is extremely efficient. He provides top of line technology and state of art equipment. But, most of all, this office has the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. I can't imagine going to any other dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Hinkle.

Hinkle Dentistry is great. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. The whole staff are very professional and make going to the dentist as painless as possible. Their space/tools/techniques are very modern and you can tell the whole staff are very up to date on the newest training and methods in dentistry. Case in point they use a new technique using Airflow technology to clean teeth that doesn't require the scalpel approach that leads to your teeth being poked and prodded and left bleeding. It was a great experience!

Personal, friendly relationships with patients have always been a hallmark of this practice and that, coupled with excellent, trusted dental care from Dr Hinkle and his staff make this a top notch practice. I'd never go anyplace else!

This was the best dental experience I have ever had. Dr. Hinkle and his office staff are all very friendly and professional. The hygienist (Denise) explained everything she was going to do. The best part is they use a method for cleaning that is gentle and pain free. I have very sensitive teeth and not once did I have any discomfort. I would highly recommend this dental practice!

Hinkle Dentistry is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! :) I have been a patient at the practice for over 20 years. Their interest in your personal life, along with ensuring all your dental needs are met are one of a kind. Many years ago, during my regular cleaning, Alyssa noticed that one lymph node felt larger than normal and turned to the Dr, Hinkle to check it for her. He asked if I had a cold recently and when I said I had not, he recommended that I go check it out to make sure it was not of a more serious condition. Trusting his word, I went to get checked and the tests turned out positive for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Since then I received months of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant and am in remission with many thanks to Dr. Hinkle and Alyssa. I LOVE THEM! They exude warmth and comfort the minute you walk into their office. They are FAMILY! ox

From the moment you walk into the office, and are greeted with a warm welcome by Eric, until the moment you leave, you are treated with kindness and great dental care. I am a returning patient (recently moved back to McLean) and would not trust my teeth to any other team of professionals. Adriana was great, and I loved the AirFlow system as part of the teeth cleaning process. It is immediately evident that Dr. Hinkle truly cares about his patients.

Hinkle Dentistry is by far the best dental practice in the area! I recently had a cleaning with Denise and had a phenomenal experience. She was so thorough in explaining every detail about my treatment and was so personable- she made my visit so much fun! The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and well taken care of. It is evident that the team loves what they do and cares for each and every one of their patients!
