One of the things Dr. Virginia Shahinian finds most rewarding is the lifelong friendships she makes with her patients. She appreciates the opportunity to learn a multitude of things from all different types of people. She enjoys working alongside her incredible team every day as well as her husband, Dr. Rustam DeVitre, and her daughter, Dr. Adrina DeVitre.
Dr. Virginia Shahiniangraduated from Boston University in 1974 andreceived her DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1977.She then attended the Postgraduate Program in Prosthodontics at Tufts and received her Certificate of Prosthodontics in 1979.Dr.Shahinian taught in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Tufts from 1977 until 1982. Throughout her career, she has taken numerous continuing education courses because of her commitment to offering the finest dental care with the most up-to-date technology and methodology.
Dr. Shahinian established Hingham Dentistry in 1990.She specializes in creating beautiful smiles for her patients and is known for her gentle and caring attitude. She has extensive experience with laminate veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures and partial dentures, and fillings. Dr. Shahinian is a member of the South Shore District Dental Societyandthe American Dental Association. She was recently honored by the Massachusetts Dental Society into their Lifetime Membership circle.
Dentistry is a shared passion within Dr. Shahinians family. In addition to her husband and daughter, she also has two nephews and a niece who have recently entered the profession. She values the shared connection and enjoys exchanging ideas about dentistry at family gatherings. In her spare time, Dr. Shahinian reads, watches independent films, bikes, walks in nature, and travels to tropical destinations where she can immerse herself in local cultures (and the sea!). Above all, she treasures her time spent with her children and grandchildren, experiencing life from their perspective.
Dr. Adrina DeVitre grew up watching her parents, both dentists, caring for patients. From the age of 11, shed go into the office with her mother on weekends and assist in small ways. It was then she began noticing and appreciating the delicate touch required for dental work and the compassion her mother had for her patients. At 14, she began helping out on the administrative side, where she developed a sense of responsibility and professionalism that she carried with her into her own career. Before long, Dr. DeVitre came to realize the dental field was more than just the family businessit became her passion.
Dr. DeVitre received her Bachelors Degree in 2008 in French and Pre-Dental Sciences from Columbia University. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2012 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated summa cum laude. While at Tufts, she received the American Academy of Oral Medicine Merit Award and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Dental Honor Society. Dr. DeVitre was on the Deans List for her performance on the national boards and was selected to work as a teachers assistant on the clinical floor.
In 2013, Dr. DeVitre continued her dental education by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Boston University.During her residency, Dr. DeVitre received the Clinical Excellence Award, which is given annually to the graduate student who best exemplifies excellence in character and clinical proficiency.
This extra year of postgraduate education allows her to successfully perform more complex restorative, cosmetic, and endodontic cases.Currently, Dr. DeVitre is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, OKU Dental Honor Society, and the Tufts Dental School Alumni Association. Dr. DeVitre appreciates being in Boston, where the continuing education opportunities are plentiful. She is a certified Invisalign Provider and looks forward to using this conservative therapy to comprehensively treat her patients.
As a former professional ballet dancer with the Boston Ballet, Dr. DeVitre prides herself in bringing a high degree of care, precision, and artistry to her work. She has always felt comfortable working with her hands and finds the unique combination of art and science that defines dentistry fascinating. Ultimately, the relationships she creates with her patients are most important to her. She finds it rewarding when she helps someone who was initially fearful of the dentist become a patient who looks forward to his or her visits. Remaking smiles and giving people the gift of confidence through their appearance is a joy for her.
Born and raised in Cohasset, Dr. DeVitre currently lives in Boston with her husband, Shaz (also a doctor), and their two young children, Sabine and Aram. In her spare time, she loves to seek out fun family activities around the Boston area, try out new recipes at home, explore new restaurants, learn about new cultures through travel, and nurture her love of yoga and dance.

Dr. Rustam DeVitres expertise in dentistry spans many subjects, giving him the unique ability to masterfully treat the most complex oral rehabilitation cases. He is a prosthodontist who is known for his capacity to manage temporomandibular joint disease as well as for his passion for implant dentistry. His background is centered around esthetics, as he has a meticulous eye for detail and understands what is cosmetically appealing. Dr. DeVitre has conducted research in cementation, dental ceramics, and computer-aided design in dentistryhis work has been published in the Journal of Prosthodontic Dentistry. Currently, he has a patent pending on an implant drill and has traveled internationally on faculty with the International Academy of Dental Implantology to China, Korea, and Mexico.
In 1973, Dr. DeVitre graduated from Government Dental College, in Bombay, India, where he also completed Orthodontics MDS1. He then attended the Postgraduate Program in Prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine from 1974-1976 and received his Certificate of Prosthodontics in 1976. In 1977, he joined Tufts predoctoral class and obtained his DMD degree.
From 1976-1984, Dr. DeVitre taught in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Tufts as an Assistant Professor while simultaneously working in the faculty practice. Dr. DeVitre then opened his prosthodontic practice in Boston, where he continues to practice. He is a member of the Academy of Dental Science, American College of Prosthodontics, the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and Northeast Craniomandibular Society (Past President), and is well known and highly respected in Bostons dental community. He is a very proud alumnus of Tufts Dental School, volunteering his time to be on their Board of Directors.
Outside of the dental world, Dr. DeVitre enjoys supporting entrepreneurship in the local community. His pastimes also include sharing his love of kiting, boating, and travel with his wife, two children, two grandchildren, and hundreds of extended family members.
