Dr. Eric Layton, a native of Kinston, North Carolina, graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. While working fulltime for a global construction firm, he earned a Masters in Business Administration from East Carolina University. Dr. Layton graduated with honors from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and immediately entered private practice at Trident General Dentistry. Although he changed careers from engineering to dentistry, Dr. Layton is still building bridges.

Dr. Layton is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Coastal District Dental Society, and multiple local dental study clubs. He regularly participates in continuing education programs so that he can offer his patients the best treatment options. Dr. Layton enjoys the outdoor activities that living in Charleston providessailing, boating, and fishing. He lives in Charleston with his wife, two daughters, son and dachshund.

Dr. Casey Bennett graduated cum laude from Clemson University with a bachelors degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, he toured the east coast playing guitar with his band Swift Robinson until he began his dental education at the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. While a student at MUSC, Dr. Bennett served as a research assistant in Dr. Caroline Westwaters laboratory and was the 3Shape Technician for the Implant Prosthodontics clinic where he designed 3-D diagnostic wax ups. Dr. Bennett graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Medical University of South Carolina and was the recipient of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Award.

Dr. Bennett is also an Attending Faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina where he works with students one day a week in clinic. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the South Carolina Dental Association. His passion for dentistry combined with his participation in continuing education programs allows him to provide the best care possible to his patients.

Dr. Robert Painter is from Greenville, SC and graduated from Riverside High School in 2006. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University with a degree in Health Services Administration. Dr. Painter received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Painter earned the American Academy of Osseointegration award for excellence in Implant Dentistry. He is a member of the ADA, SCDA, and Academy of General Dentistry. He lives in Mt. Pleasant with his wife, Weezie (a Mt. Pleasant native), and they have a Shiba Inu dog named Maya. Dr. Painter enjoys golfing, boating, staying physically active, and spending time with his family.

He was fortunate to receive a full athletic football scholarship to attend Vanderbilt Universitymusic to his parents ears considering he has 8 siblings! He graduated with a bachelors degree in Economics. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Healey met his wife, Jill. They lived in southern California for four years while Jill studied medicine. After a successful decade in business, Dr. Healey decided to study dentistry. He enjoys the artistic and human service aspects of dentistry. He completed his DMD degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has been practicing dentistry in the Charleston area since 2010.

Dr. Healey and Jill reside on James Island and their son, Brendan, attends Calhoun Honors College at Clemson. In his spare time Dr. Healey enjoys playing golf, tennis, and mountain biking. A highlight of Dr. Healeys dental career was serving on a dental mission trip in central Jamaica with his family. He is eager to serve James Island, Folly Beach, and the Charleston community.

Dr. Cody Cutler is from eastern North Carolina, where his home town is Bath, the oldest in the state. Dr. Cutler graduated with Honors from East Carolina University, obtaining a double degree in Biology and Chemistry. His dental training was also done at East Carolina, where he received a DMD degree in 2016 from the School of Dental Medicine. Following graduation of dental school, Dr. Cutler completed a one-year residency in Ahoskie, NC for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).

Dr. Cutler moved to Charleston in 2017, where he lives in West Ashley. When not seeing patients, he enjoys exploring all the facets of the Lowcountry, from touring its rich history, kayaking the many waterways, and trying any and all of the many restaurants around the area.

Dr. Melissa Owen grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. She attended James Madison University where she obtained her bachelors degree in Biology. She then went on to pursue her DDS at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. During this time, Dr. Owen married her high school sweetheart, Conally Owen. She also was involved in various organizations including being a coordinator at the Samaritan Health Dental Clinic in Durham, NC. After dental school, Dr. Owen and her husband packed their bags and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Here, she completed a General Practice Residency at the Sepulveda VA. Afterward, Dr. Owen and her husband moved back to the east coast and spent two years in Wilmington, North Carolina and one year in Durham, North Carolina where she worked as a dental associate and advanced her clinical skills while her husband completed school. Dr. Owen values communication, patient satisfaction, and providing excellent dental care. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time outside with her husband and their beagle mix, Sammy. Dr. Owen and her husband are looking forward to making Charleston their home and to many future adventures, in dentistry and beyond.

Dr. Jeffrey Johnson was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He earned his bachelors degree in Cell Biology and Biotechnology and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolinas College of Dental Medicine. While at MUSC, he spent time serving his community through several dental outreach programs. Also, while at MUSC, Jeff received the 2016 Clarence Sport Saunders Scholarship, the 2017 MUSC CDM Loyalty Fund Scholarship, and the 2018 Dr. Charles E. Millwood Jr. Endowed Scholarship for his academic and clinical achievements. He enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Jennifer, and their two miniature dachshunds: Duggie and Daika. Jeff and Jennifer live in Mount Pleasant where they enjoy going to the gym and spending their free time on the water boating and fishing.
