Dr. Montagna was born in VA Beach where he spent the first half of his childhood. He then moved to Charlottesville, VA at age 11 where he grew an appreciation for the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. He is a graduate of Southern Virginia University, and the Indiana University School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. While attending dental school he received recognition for his clinical skills by receiving the Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry award.
Dr. Montagna is very active in his church and community affairs. He is married to Courtney Montagna of Bountiful, Utah and they have been blessed with five children. His interests outside of dentistry include basketball, gardening, cooking, and being with his family.
Dr. Montagna spends a considerable amount of time each year learning the latest techniques developed in dentistry in order to provide the highest quality of care. He is an avid learner and is most proud of his training through the Pankey Institute one of the top learning institutions in dentistry.

I was a patient of Dr.Harvey for years , I recently called to make an appointment I was told that I could no longer be seen due to it being two years since my last appointment. Never mind the fact that during COVID closure you could not get an appointment.

Dr. Paul Montagna is wonderful. He has such a great personality and works well with the elderly. The office staff is awesome! They work with your schedule to make appointments convenient. Anita and Abby are always friendly and helpful. Marie is great too! Due to the atmosphere they project I always leave feeling Happy.

Best in class , kindness and overall helped me when I was at my worst, excellent dentist takes his time with you and makes sure your at ease even though the circumstances. Staff is excellent to deal with andwell overall the Best dentistry I've ever been to in my life.. Thank You again

I have at times gone to this practice since I was 6 years old in 1952 and seen all its dentists - Dr Goad, Dr Jackson, Dr Harvey and Dr Montagna. I m sorry to have to leave a negative review. I had a tooth hurting and Dr Montagna told me I must ether have it pulled or an expensive root canal and crown. With little money I sought another opinion and was told I only need a resin filling. Hoping that Dr Montagana would consider another opinion and fill my tooth on a sliding scale basis I took the opinion to his office. He never spoke to me about it but his receptionist informed me that Dr Montagna would only pull the tooth and if I wanted it filled I must have someone else do it. Since then I have even another opinion that I do not need a root canal. My criticism is that Dr. Montagna would not even consider or discuss another opinion with me even though it would have been much less expensive and I could possibly afford it without losing the tooth.

I have been very happy with Hillsville Family Dental. All of the staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr. Montagna is a gentle dentist and has worked patiently with me and my anxiety during dental procedures. I would recommend him to anyone. He is friendly and cares about his patients.

Dr. Montagna is one of the best dentists I've seen in our area. I had major anxiety about visiting after a different dentist removed my wisdom teeth. Dr. Montagna listened and we went over exactly what would be happening. He made sure my gums were numb before he even used the injection of novacaine during a filling. We also have a son that is on the spectrum and doesn't tolerate mouth pain well and even he enjoyed his last filling because he couldn't feel it at all. Definitely our new family favorite

I saw Dr. Montagna for a broken tooth that had suddenly started bothering me. He got me in quickly and took his time to explain his opinion and what my options were. He was professional and I felt comfortable. Affordable procedure as well, as I was cash pay. Definitely recommend Dr. Montagna!

My husband and I switched to Hillsville Family Dental about a year ago. The staff have been wonderful and Dr Montagna has been great! My oldest has anxiety when it comes to needles and shots but needed to have several of his baby teeth removed since they wouldn't fall out on their own and were crowding his grown up teeth. Dr Montagna was able to keep my son relaxed and distracted to the point where he didn't even know that he had gotten the numbing shot and the teeth pulled! The staff is always sweet and very helpful. I highly recommend this dentist and his staff!

The staff is extremely friendly and Dr. Montagna is professional and intelligent. I did not have to wait very long to get in, and they performed quickly and efficiently. The facility is clean and professional, and overall my experience was wonderful!

I love Dr. Montagna! He is someone i can trust and has great attention to detail. I know Integrity to his work is everything. He is a dentist that I'm willing to travel even from out of state cause I know I can trust his opinion and he won't miss diagnose a cheaper "solution" because that's what people would rather pay and just have their money. Then have them come back later with more problems.

Went to this dentist since I was little and Dr.David Harvey owned it. They have began refusing medicade and Medicare and are trying to push people out. Will not be going back. Good way to lose future business. Guess my children and I will be going elsewhere. Funny I would had paid out of pocket but the attitude was so sour toward my insurance that I'll not be returning.

I take my kids here and they love it. All of the staffs are nice and helpful. They are good with my kids when I bring them. Make sure my kids feel safe, calm, and understand everything they do.

Dr. Montagna is the best. If anyone needs a dentist I recommend him highly. I've had three fillings in difficult locations (one near a nerve) and he did a great job on all of them.

Very nice office visit today. Everyone was friendly and personable. Dr. Montagna was very knowledgeable and explained all my options well. FAST FORWARD. This office has stopped taking our insurance now and we're rude. It's really too bad as we have been here for 6 years and we're well pleased with the new doctor until this change.

Taken Advantage of !! I am a Senior and on a fixed income . I visited Hillsville Family Dentist ( Paul Montagna) 15 months ago to replace a filling I have had for years . Since then, his repair has come out 4 times and he has repaired it 3 times . At no time has it lasted longer than 4 months . The work has been turned in on insurance 2X and the Dr says he paid for 1 time himself . I was informed yesterday that he be glad to try again but I will have to pay cash for any work that he does . The last time I saw him he said " We are gonna keep doing this till I get this right " Unfortunately , He left out the part about me paying cash for him trying to get it right . I will never go there again as long as he is there and I only write this post to make people aware of my experience there . I have lived in the area for years and have found local businesses fair until this experience.
