Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide afixedsolution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.
Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist orPeriodontist- a specialist of the gums and supporting bone. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patients smile!
X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. While the area is numb, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself onto the bone for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery may be required in order to place the post that will hold the artificial tooth in place. With other implants the post and anchor are already attached and placed at the same time.
After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step may take one to two months to complete. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort to the patient.

Always a great experience with Dr O'Dell. He puts you at ease at every visit. Today, I had a procedure that gave me a little anxiety because of the unknown, but I was made comfortable. My care was excellent and the staff was very professional and nice. Never liked any form of surgery but my experience was great from the time I walked in until I left the office.

Dr Odell is the ONLY oral surgeon I will let touch me. He took care of me in 2011 and again 10 years later with the same superb treatment and AWESOME staff. No one can retire or leave. Just saying. 5 Stars!!

I will simply second every positive review reported. Had a wisdom tooth extraction today. Now 12 hours later. Never any pain or bleeding. AMAZING!!! O'Dell is the best!!

Dr. O'Dell and the entire staff at Hill Country Periodontics are wonderful! They are all kind, caring and considerate! They provide excellent patient care and my hygienist, Jamie, is awesome! I would give them 10 stars if that was an option! I am so thankful that they have an office in San Marcos which is just a short drive from my home. I highly recommend them for your periodontic needs!!!

Dr. O'Dell, Laura, Valerie, Jamie, Liz (and others) are the very best in taking care of your needs. The entire staff is friendly and caring. I honestly doubt anyone can top the knowledge and professionalism of this group! Even dealing with the intricacies of my complex issues requiring surgeries, Dr. O'Dell has made the experience virtually pain free! Dr. O'Dell is incredible. I enjoy talking with him as he is as personable as he is meticulous! I won't dare go anywhere else!
