Dr. Clayton Barrett moved to Prescott after serving in the US Army as a dentist and a captain. During his time in the service he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. While there, Dr. Barrett received extensive training and experience in the dental specialties, especially prosthodontics. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service regarding his pioneering approach to the computer aided design and three dimensional milling of dental prosthetics which involved many hundreds of cases. He instructed other dental officers throughout the western region on these techniques.
Prior to his military service, Dr. Barrett received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California Dental School, where he had the honor of being trained by Dr. Stanley Malamed, widely considered the most experienced living person regarding dental injections and anesthesia. Dr. Barretts training also included endodontics, composite and porcelain bonding, periodontics, oral surgery, cosmetics, and dental implants.
Dr. Barrett believes in education. He is a graduate of the Live Implant Training Institute where he was trained in advanced bone grafting and dental implant placement procedures. He is also a graduate of Brigham Young University. He received his Bachelors of Arts in world history, being keenly interested in all things historical.
Dr. Barrett volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America, due to his love of the outdoors and his gratitude for the Eagle Scout award which he credits with setting him on a good life path. He also spends time volunteering in his church. His favorite sport is alpine skiing and enjoys going as often as possible. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife, who has been integral to his success.

Heather has been a hygienist since she graduated from Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in Boston, MA in 1995. She earned a bachelors degree in dental hygiene in 1997 from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. She moved to Arizona in 2010 for the beautiful weather and scenery and has been with Highland Dental since 2012.
Lacy graduated with an associates degree in Applied Dental Hygiene Science from Mojave Community College in 2007 and has been part of the Highland Dental team for 10 years. What interested her in hygiene initially was the caring aspect of dentistry. Through hygiene school she learned how important oral hygiene is to overall health and she enjoys helping people stay well.

I really am very scared going to dentist but this place is awesome and the dentist is super he makes me feel semi relaxed and us always asking if I'm alright I usually don't keep up with going back to dentists but I have not missed an appointment

Like a famous man said, "This is the place" Dr Barrett has an impressive educational background and is most willing to explain procedures to the patient. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I am very satisfied with my experience.

This post is for my mother in law, who is in her early 90's and wanted me to post this review for her because she doesn't have the means to. She is a retired dental hygienist and raved about the work that she had done by Dr. Barrett. Believe me when I tell you that she is NOT easy to please when it comes to dentistry. Emergency broken molar. In quickly for evaluation. A couple week wait but scheduled and extracted plus other work st the same time. Long procedures but kept informed along the way. Caring staff and dentist.

It really helps when you have a dentist that cares. That's what you get at Highland dental. The staff is very knowledgeable but they are also very caring. It's hard to find a doctor that treats you like a person and not just a patient, Doctor Barrett is very kind very caring, And it makes all the difference especially with tough unwanted dental procedures.

4/12/22 update: Front office staff (still turnover) uncaring and do not listen to patient. Cancelled appt. due to hygienist sick (understandable), can't get on cancellation list unless you are already on the schedule, many negative answers to inquiries both on phone and in person. Scheduler smirked at my objections to responses. Service declined after Dr. Cutler left. Major front office staff turnover. Still billing as non-participating provider to Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance patients after a whole year. Keep getting run around and same excuses (it's BCBS not us) from bookkeeper for office; no billing statements since June 2017. Lost two appointments (mine, my sons) in last 30 days.
