Patients with mentally illness..... I want to start off by saying this is more or an "awareness" for both the office and patients based off of my own experience. Overall, staff was nice and Dr had good "bedside manners" for the most part. However, we feel the Dr nor his nurse aren't or unwilling to work and understand those with mental illness; sadly most aren't regardless of what type of business it is. Anyways ... I get it, we're all busy and I had a tooth that absolutely needed to be extracted. I'm fully aware the office doesnt revolve around me nor my needs. However, PTSD and GAD will get the best of me at times and I need time to assess, cope, and manage the situation/environment. Dr did his best I guess to understand but he's not good with hiding his facial expression and body language; smiles until he turns and then came the eye rolling. Most people like me notice those instantly. His nurse just didn't care at all ... it was "no, can't wait, we have other surgeries".. which is absolutely true but i just asked for a min before sticking me with needles; I wanted to take a few deep breathes. Since I was struggling I myself DID offer to rescheduled so I can go through my own process and be better prepared; I had no idea how it was going to work, etc., that way no one elses time was wasted. I was told this was just going to be a consultation but nope, they insisted on pressing forward... then used fear to force me, such as it could get infected (which is possible), or you'd end up in the ER where it's going to be so much worse and you'd be charge a min of $30k, which could also be true. The ONLY one who was respectful, understanding, and willing to work with me the entire time was the Tech, Hector. He is amazing .. and the Dr and his nurse can learn soooo much from him. However the Dr and nurse give off that "I'm higher than you" so I doubt they'd listen. Glory goes to God and I'm glad He used Hector to help because if He hadn't and Hector acted the same, there wouldn't have been any way that I would've proceeded. I WILL give the Dr credit for 1. squeezing me in such short notice, which a big part of tgat was help from my dentist but he allowed it, and 2. walking out to my wife directly to let her know how it went and offered for her to call the office if anything was needed. My suggestions for this staff who have a patient with mental illness(es) 1. Let the patient asks questions and not shut them down saying, "too many questions, you'll make it worse". 2. Let the patient plead their case/suggestions. In my case, baby steps .. or do things in phases. For example, Tech does their part, then give the patient time to cope. Next, nurse does their part, then give patient time to cope, etc. 3. Listen to your patient and address their fears ... reassure them ... using fear isn't the way to go. But what do I know .. like most would say, "it's all just in your head" .. so "just brush it off".

Dr. Lam performed a biopsy on and later removed an infected cyst from my gums under my nose. Also, performed a bone graft in the area to treat some bone loss. Dr. Lam explained everything to me in great detail while looking at the scans of the infected area and also took time to answer any questions I had. Great experience with him and his staff.

(Translated by Google) The service is terrible and the receptionists do not even have the minimum education to greet the moment one enters. They have a contract with the La Fe clinic where they treat us and the administration sends the payments, today that was my consultation, supposedly they had not received the payment. But in the 30 minutes that he was on his way to my house, the check coincidentally appeared. They think they can play with the patients... for one it will be much more fun when they take away the La Fe contract for not providing an adequate service. Hopefully dentists realize that they have their worst enemies in their staff who are causing them not only to lose clients but also contracts and they will fire them and hire staff who are friendly and professional.

I had been referred here by my dentist to get consulted. I was told that my appointment was at 1, then come to find out, the appointment time was wrong for weeks and was not notified till the day of. They proceeded to push me back a full hour after the time I was told and even then, I waited 2 1/2 hours after the fact to get in. I hope things change for the better.

I don't even know where to start with this place. I was referred here by my primary dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction and I'm so disappointed that they made me go there. First they wanted to charge me for another full X-ray after I just had one with my dentist. They had me wait so that they can call my dentist so that they can send it over and see if they'd accept it. ok, dentist sends it over and they said it was missing information and they needed to take a new xray so that it can have all of my info on it. I just calmly called my dentist and asked them if they could add it and resend. They did. Then i went to the back and she told me it was going to be $100 consultation fee!!!! Just for the dentist to say whether or not he can do it or i needed surgery to remove them. I was so frustrated that they waited until i was in the room to tell me that. I told her that i couldn't pay that after just hearing about it and she said ok. While i was in there she went and came back to ask if i had insurance 4 times!!! i told her yes and then she still tried to come back and give me a quote without insurance. i was so over this experience already. The dentist came in and could clearly see my frustration and told me he wouldn't charge me the consultation fee, looked at my mouth for all of 8 seconds and said ok i can do it without surgery. The assistant still asked me if i had insurance or if i was going to pay out of pocket and i told her once again that i had insurance. She had me sit in the waiting room so that they could rework my quote. I was there for almost another HOUR. Up until they closed!! I could see the receptionist and people coming in and out confused as to who i was and why i was sitting there. The receptionist at the front counter called me up and STILL TRIED TO QUOTE ME WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!! i was so done with this place at this point. they were supposed to be redoing my quote the entire time i was sitting in the waiting room! She then proceeds to tell me that the one that does the quotes was gone for the day and shed call me first thing in the morning with a new quote. No call, no follow up no nothing up until now. Oh but i got a bill in the mail for 200 some odd dollars that was billed to my insurance and i have a balance for the rest. I will be calling them and my insurance to see what i was billed for. It was a joke to say the least dealing with this place

My son had is wisdom teeth removed in December. Today he pulled out a piece of his wisdom tooth they missed. The area is swollen and irritated. When I called the office to get an emergency appointment, it was very complicated to get through to the scheduler for the west side location. Eventually when I talked with her, she tried to schedule an appointment for two weeks later. I requested a same day emergency appointment. She put me on hold and then disconnected my call (I could here her talking in the background saying "I'll just call her back"). I attempted to call back at least 10+ times over the course of the hour and now I'm just directed to a voice mail box that is full or I'm disconnected. Their front end staff clearly doesn't understand customer service or care. Very disappointed.

I was referred here for complex wisdom tooth extraction by my DDS. I have to say Dr. Pugao was awesome! Has great skills . I refused sedation and witnessed what an amazing job he did considering the complexity of it.

I am soo thankful for Dr Yates! The fact that we have a big name in El Paso is a blessing. My son was born with a left cleft lip and palate. Yates is an exceptionally gifted and genuine Doctor. His staff is phenomenal and he certainly has my trust.

Been to both offices, the east side has been extremely difficult, been there twice and not even seen either time, being told appt is at 11 then show up and told we are late it is at 9 so much call bs, in difference the west side was much better but it is out of network, so I'm stuck going to east side which is in network but customer service is lacking.

Horribly ran place and not organized. They called me the day before my surgery to confirm my appointment was at 12 and I go in the next day ready for surgery and had taken time off work and they tell me my surgery was earlier in the day. When I showed them paper work proving my surgery was at that time they did nothing to help and did not care. All they did was offer to move my surgery a month later when I have been in pain with my wisdom teeth for a while now and really needed to get this done.

I had a great experience here, I had a molar removed. The entire procedure seemed like it took all of 5 minutes, I had no idea they could pull my tooth out literally seconds after they injected my gum. Everything went smoothly and I had a follow up appointment just to make sure I was healing up properly and all was well! Thanks Dr. Lam!

I had an appointment for an evaluation and the medical staff was great. After the evaluation the nurse said she would let the front desk know that I was ready to schedule my surgery date and to wait in the room. I sat in the room for half an hour before finally going up to the front desk myself. The excuse the receptionist gave me was that no one told her I was waiting in the room. Fast forward to my surgery date and it's a fantastic experience, right up until I left. My wife and I got to our car when I noticed they hadn't prescribed me anything for pain. My wife runs back in to ask them for pain management and all they gave her was a prescription for ibuprofen and Tylenol. It didn't hurt at first so I figured that would probably manage my pain. Fast forward again to the drive home. The local anesthetic starts wearing off and I am in the worst pain I have ever experienced. I am nauseous, sweating, and light-headed from the pain. I feel like I'm going to pass out. Anyway, I call them back around 1:30pm to tell them that I need something stronger and the lady I'm on the phone with tells me that she will call to the doctor to see what he wants to do because he is no longer in the office! She also tells me that the nurses can prescribe the medication so she will see if they will do it. My wife and I get back home and I can't take the pain any longer so we decided to head to the emergency room. While in the waiting room of the ER High Desert Oral and Facial Surgery calls me back saying they are going to send a stronger prescription over to my pharmacy. I am so relieved that my wife and I decide to leave the ER. I call my pharmacy twice to see if they sent the prescription over. They had not. 2 and a half hours later, an hour before HD Oral and Facial Surgery closes, I call them back to see what's going on. Well it turns out the nurses are no longer there either! An hour before they close and apparently they have no medical staff in the building whatsoever. I understand that there's an opioid epidemic so they want to be careful when prescribing them, but this is insane. You had to put me under anesthesia to perform the surgery. It was serious and even I knew that I was going to be in pain afterwards. I just didn't realize how painful it would really be. I feel like I'm going to vomit and I'm sure that's not good for the open wound in my mouth. Anyway, I would highly recommend you choose somewhere else for any dental work you need done. This has truly been one of the worst experiences of my life. Edit: My dentists nurse called me back and told me that she will be calling in a prescription for a weaker pain killer today. It's a weaker pain killer because the doctor is the only one that can prescribe the stronger ones. While I'm still unhappy about that, it's still better than nothing.
