After graduating from Tualatin High School, Dr. James Durnin served honorably in the U. S. Navy for 4 years. Upon leaving military service, he enrolled in Oregon State University, where he graduated with a dual degree in Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology. Dr. Durnin worked as a molecular virology researcher where he co-authored several scientific papers while working at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Driven by an interest in patient care, Dr. Durnin pursued his dental education at OHSU School of Dentistry, completing his D.M.D. in 2013. For the first 5 years out of dental school, Dr. Durnin practiced in a large corporate practice in Corvallis, Oregon. In 2018, he purchased Hidden Springs Family Dentistry from Dr. Robert Darke and is excited to continue the legacy of exceptional patient care that Dr. Darke and team have cultivated.
Dr. Durnins areas of interest include CEREC CAD/CAM same-day crown fabrication, oral surgery, root canal treatment, sleep apnea treatment, periodontal procedures and all aspects of restorative dentistry. Dr. Durnin is inspired and motivated by a drive to pursue cutting-edge dental continuing education. He is a member of several study clubs, including the American Academy of General Dentistry Implant Study Club and the Columbia Perio Study Club.
Dr. Durnin and his partner, Sara, have two lovely children, Maxwell and Maya Grace. They enjoy spending family time together, running, outdoor sports, painting, and F1 racing. Dr. Durnin is also a big fan of Portland Thorns Soccer team and THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS.
Toby has worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Durnin for years, and started his dental assisting career in 2012, he joined Hidden Springs Family Dentistry in June of 2018. He enjoys being a part of a dedicated but fun team of dental professionals. When he is off work he enjoys motorcycle riding, surfing and all types of water sports.
