Dr. Mark Hewlett graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree, which he followed up by attending the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, graduating in 1986 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). After graduation, Dr. Hewlett spent nine years in the United States Army Dental Corps. He was stationed in the U.S., and abroad. In 1996, Dr. Hewlett, with his wife Nancy, and their then two small children, moved to Shelbyville and established Hewlett Family Dental.
Dr. Hewlett is passionate about dentistry and the oral health of his patients. He loves his profession, and how it allows him to get to know his patients, and help them on a daily basis. Dr. Hewlett enjoys golfing in his free time, and hopes to one day get good at it!
Dr. Stephen Hewlett graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2011. He then returned to the Bluegrass state to attend the University of Kentucky for graduate school, followed by dental school at UK, where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2019. Having grown up in Shelbyville, he is excited to return home and deliver excellent dental care for his community. Dr. Hewlett enjoys getting to know each patient and is driven to deliver personalized high quality, modern dental services for each individual. In his free time Dr. Hewlett enjoys cooking, going to the movies, playing golf, and spending time with his family.
Judith graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Louisville. She has been with our practice for many years. She loves the daily interaction with our patients, helping them achieve top oral health. In her off time, she enjoys gardening, watching sports, especially her alma mater, and visiting with her daughter.
Ann graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida. She has been a member of our team since 2013, and takes great pride in providing high quality dental care for our patients. In her off time Ann enjoys cooking and playing golf.

Cracked my tooth, went in to have it looked at(not in pain, no signs of infection, purely to have it looked at) the son goes ahead and fills it with NO warnings of potential work needed if not fixed, since then I have been in pain and have had horrible sensitivity and I go back and now I'm told I need a root canal that I have to pay for for their mistake of taking off too much of the tooth. So don't go here if you value your teeth or make sure the son doesn't do your work or you'll have more to do later. Also, their employees lie about what was said. If I was told I would need a root canal prior to the filling I wouldn't have even had the filling.

I came to this dentist to fix my mouth after fighting a cancer battle and winning my mouth looked awful and when I left my dentist appointment I had a beautiful smile they are great people they're very courteous and they do a good job

Hewlett Family Dental has to be the best place in Kentucky for dental care. They've been taking care of me since 2007 and I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Dr. Hewlett's Dental office was the best, I have never been to a dentist office to where I can say I had fun. Because it has a great environment. And everyone was so nice and happy. I will drive from Louisville to be Dr. Hewlett new customer . He is well worth it.

Amazing practice! Squeezed my husband in at 4:50 on GOOD FRIDAY to fix a broken crown. Also finally helped my teeth sensitivity after complaining about it for years. Super friendly and accommodating!!

I used to dread going to the dentist when I was a kid, but now, as an adult ,going to Hewlett Family Dentistry, the process is always good. Everyone is so friendly and professional. From the dentist to the hygienist, to the scheduling and front desk personnel, no complaints from me.. highly recommend

Our family has seen Dr. Mark Hewlett for years and I can't say enough good things about the practice, which now includes his son, Dr. Stephen Hewlett. They are both so professional, friendly, and gentle which is so important. Same for the entire staff. I would highly recommend to adults and children alike.

I was referred to Dr. Hewlitt when my children were young. He was great at teaching me how to care for their teeth and didn't recommend unnecessary dental work. My children are now grown with children of their own and I have moved a considerable distance away. I tried other dentists, but now my husband and I make the drive to Shelbyville for our dental care because we know we can trust Dr. Hewlitt and he is still the dentist I grew to admire and trust. Dr Hewlett is great with me and my Husband , when I come in to have anything done they bring me a warm blanket and a plillow . He knows that I get so cold he takes care of my teeth .
