Herremans Orthodontics - General dentist in Grand Rapids, MI

It is hard to explain how incredibly rewarding it is to transform a person's bite into a stunning, healthy smile. I get such a great sense of satisfaction watching a patient transform into a self-confident, proud individual.

For my orthodontic education, I first attended Western Michigan University, where I attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. I then graduated from the University of Michigan with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1996. Afterwards, I went on to the University of Michigan, where I earned a Masters in public health in 1997. Finally, I attained my MS in Orthodontics from St. Louis University in 2000.

Our whole practice takes many hours of continuing education classes each year. This allows us to remain current in the latest techniques to give our patients the most up to date, efficient, and comfortable treatment possible. Our patients are our highest priority, and in order to always provide them with the highest quality treatments, we must stay current with the best methods and technology available.

Working with all different types of kids and adults makes my job fun. It isgreat to see them excited to get their braces on. I love to hear what they have been up to as we get to know them. They really understand how important it is to have a healthy smile.

We want our patients to have a fun, positive experience while we straighten their teeth. We like to have fun at the office and work hard to make our patients as comfortable as possible. We do a variety of contests throughout the year where patients can win prizes. We also have fun weeks during the summer where we dress up and decorate the office.

I have the greatest staff in the world! They really care about our patients and take great care of them. They are highly trained and remain current with the newest orthodontic treatments by attending annual conventions with the doctor. They work very hard to keep things running efficiently. We pride ourselves on running on time, and our patients very rarely have to wait to be seen.

I was born and raised in Western Michigan, and my wife and I were in the 100th class to graduate from Rockford High School! We still live in Rockford, where we are close to family and friends we love. I married my high school sweetheart, Laurie, in 1992. Our son, Jacob, and our daughter, Hope, are two of my favorite people in the world. In my spare time, my favorite activity is downhill skiing. I love any outdoor activity, including hiking, biking, kayaking and golf. I love to watch my kids play sports and traveling with my family.

Our office supports many community charities and school events throughout the year. We have been very involved with the fight against cancer through the Rockford Relay For Life, and Muscular Distrophy with Mitchell's Run.

Having grown up in Walkerville, I was a Walkerville High School 1956 graduate before I went on to Western Michigan University Pre-Dental School, where I attained my DDS in 1963. I then attended the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where I graduated with my MPH in 1972. Finally, I earned my MS in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1974. Since that time, I have attended courses and seminars in order to always stay abreast of emerging methods in my field.

As a part of my continuing education, I have become a Diplomate of the College of Orthodontics as well as a member of the American Board of Orthodontics. I have been taking continuing education courses since 1975, and have enjoyed being a part of an ever-changing profession. I have also been honored to be a lecturer for the Western Michigan Dental Society and the American Board of Orthodontics.

I can feel the trust in the children who come to see us and can see it in the look on a teenager when they smile at themselves in the mirror right after treatment. In adults, their confidence grows as their smiles change. In seeing these wondrous changes each day, my job and my passion are one in the same.

I am originally from Walkerville, Michigan, and have lived in Belmont since 1974. My beautiful wife and I have four children, two girls and two boys. My son, Tom, is a working orthodontist in this practice. I am also blessed with eleven grandchildren! In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and hiking. I also enjoy reading, especially science and biology. I also love watching high school sports of all kinds.

Serving the people in our community for their dental needs has been a pleasure and a very rewarding experience for over 25 years. I believe in being honest and truthful with everyone to establish a respectful attitude from patients, staff, other dental professionals and people in the community. Every child or adult who visits our office for treatment has their own personality that makes each and every day different and a joy to be serving them.

I graduated from Hope College in 1971 with my Bachelors Degree. Afterward, I went on to the University of Detroit, where I attained my DDS in 1975. I earned my MS in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan in 1985.

I am constantly learning about the profession of orthodontics and attend yearly meetings and seminars. These courses help me stay informed of new research done in orthodontics that will aid me in diagnosis and treatment of my patients. New technologies are introduced so my partners and I can incorporate state-of-the-art technology into treatment for our patients. It is not only a requirement to attend continuing education courses, but keeps us informed on what is happening in orthodontics, and is also a good way to keep in contact with our colleagues involved in our profession. We care about our patients and it is always important for us to deliver the best orthodontic care for them.

I enjoy practicing orthodontics because of what it can do for my patients. I enjoy building a special doctor/patient relationship that develops into a caring, friendly, and respectful attitude between us. I am able to give each patient a beautiful smile that can improve his self-esteem and influences how he feels about himself.

I enjoy being involved with all of the different patients that we treat. The treatment we offer to our patients is very beneficial to their overall oral health. Straight teeth are easier to brush and keep clean. When teeth are straight and function properly, it is easier to chew your food. This is important to the digestive process and breakdown of the foods we eat, and can affect the general health of our bodies.

I enjoy seeing the personality changes our patients experience while we are treating them, and of course, the final outcome with straight teeth, an improved bite, and a beautiful smile. The patients are happier, feel better about themselves, and walk out of our office after treatment is complete with big smiles on their faces! They are very grateful for what we can do for them. I really enjoy seeing generations of patients starting with grandparents as patients and now their children and grandchildren are patients. We really get to know our families well.

I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and currently live in Grand Rapids in Cascade Township. My lovely wife, Darlene, and I have three sons. Damon is 27, Ryon is 24, and my oldest, Brandon, is 29 and married to Kelly. They have been blessed with their first child, my granddaughter, Mia!

My family has been involved in the medical field for years. We are all doctors! My father was an Orthodontist, my mother was a registered nurse practitioner, and my brother is a Gynocological Onocologist. My two oldest sons and my daughter-in-law are doctors of Physical Therapy, and my youngest son is a Chiropractic Physician.

As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant and Treatment Coordinator two days a week in the Greenville office, I help our doctor with orthodontic procedures and work with our patients on patient education. I love knowing that I am making a difference in someone 's life. One of the greatest gifts I was given as a child was orthodontics. I was a Herremans Orthodontics patient starting at eight years old. I remember calling Dr. Ed Herremans 'Grandpa Tooth!' At home, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband Andy, our sons Grady and Tanner and our dog Bear! I am a Scheduling Coordinator for Dr. Herremans. As an adult I went through orthodontic treatment myself and found that I loved the process. I feel blessed to have worked in the dental field for over twelve years. I get to see new patients that come in and hardly smile, and then see them beaming with beautiful smiles when their treatment is complete. My husband David and I have three beautiful children that we enjoy watching play basketball, volley ball and soccer. I personally love refinishing furniture, cooking and reading.

I am an Orthodontic Assistant for Dr. Herremans. I was also apatient of Herremans Orthodontics when I was a teen. My favorite part about working here is getting to know the patients. I had treatment done by Herremans Orthodontics as a kid and now I'm back as an adult (due to my own fault of not wearing my retainer!). So far I have been extremely satisfied with my care, progress, and results. The staff is very friendly, efficient, and quick. They answer all of my questions and have made the process so easy. Their customer service is fantastic and HIGHLY recommend their services to everyone I know. Best in West MI!

Office had a general lack of communication between techs and the Dr. As a patient I was left clueless most of the time, even after asking questions about my care or timeline of what was happening and when. Often answers were ' we might do that at the next appointment,' only to get that same answer at the next appointment. A referral was left unsent until multiple phone calls were made. They put different brackets on my teeth than what was initially discussed because they thought they'd work better, but they didn't tell me this until after they were on, and I was about to look in the mirror. I left in the middle of treatment and am finishing my orthodontics elsewhere. That office had to remove the braces on my teeth and had to start over completely since they were not on properly to begin with. As an adult with a complicated case, Its possible Dr. Herremans office wasn't equipped to handle the difficulty. I've had friends come to this office with no problem. It just didn't work out for me.

His staff is rude. They leave you in the chair for a long time while they go and gossip to each other. Also we called a head of time to have paper work ready which shellie promised would be ready but when we got there she not only didn't do it but giggled and just said "opps my bad". They also have been telling my sister for the past six months they were going to move forward with the next step on her spacer and have not done a thing. He Just keeps saying "next appointment..." would never refer them to anyone.
