I had a root canal done today. I am very sensitive and anxious with dental work. I slept through part of the procedure. The staff makes you comfortable and it was pain free. Great people great Dr. I highly recommend.

A great experience! They took over my root canal after an accident at my original dentist's and they did an absolutely amazing job. Everything went smoothly and without issue, the staff is also very nice and very helpful!

Fast and absolutely painless. Compared to a previous root canal I had elsewhere, this was an absolute breeze!!

OMG! My tooth was hurting! I knew I had to do something or it would only get worse. Ibuprofen and Tylenol did not help much. I knew I had to go to the dentist! And I AM a dentist! Of course this was not a laughing matter and I wanted the BEST dentist but who would that be? I am the best dentist (LOL) but I certainly cannot work on my own teeth so I decided to find an expert. That meat I needed an endodontist, a dentist who specializes in root canals but I wanted an expert, an expert that was not going to hurt me! Discovering there was a new specialist in Pierre, South Dakota who was a specialist, put a smile on my face of course but was he going to hurt me? The only way to find out was to make an appointment and when I called I was happy to be told that he could get me in right away. Since I was going to Pierre yesterday anyway, I wanted it done ASAP and when I hung up, I had an appointment with Dr. Hermanson. The lady on the phone was very nice and made me feel much more at ease. I have been in many dental offices for Continuing Ed courses and thought I had seen them all but when I walked into the office of Dr. Hermanson, I was pleasantly surprised. The office was very clean and it could be seen the equipment was new and up to date. When the doctor came in he greeted me pleasantly and after asking me a few questions, did a very thorough exam of my mouth. He showed me on the monitor the x-rays the assistant had taken and I could see the bad tooth with the painful "abscess". He explained everything and said he could do the root canal right away if I wanted. Of course I wanted but would it hurt? The numbing process is always scary no matter who you are and me being a dentist, I was nervous because no one likes a needle in their mouth! Anyway, I closed my eyes and I have to tell you there was NO PAIN from the shot! I could not believe it! Oh well, the rest was boring, just a little vibration and slight pushing. I heard very little conversation between the doctor and the assistant so I knew they both knew exactly what they were doing. Well it was over and I was surprised it over a lot quicker than I expected. Dr. Hermanson showed me the final x-ray and having seen many x-rays of root canals I had done, I could see that he did an excellent job. I thanked him, and went to the desk to finish up. The lady at the desk had everything ready and when she told me what I owed, I was pleasantly surprised because my dental insurance covered most of it! Hours later, I have to admit I was worried I would have pain when the numbing wore off but it is now 2 AM and not having taken any pain meds, there is NO PAIN at all! Finally, if you have a tooth ache make sure you go to your no matter who that is and if you need a root canal, ask your dentist to refer you to Dr Hermanson in Pierre SD. You will be happy if you do!
