Kuhn R. Marshall, DMD Dr. Marshall proudly followed in his fathers footsteps to become a dentist. He graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry in 1980. After graduation, he shared an office with his father while starting his own practice, and eventually, the practices merged. Dr. Marshall also volunteered for eleven years at the Creston Dental Clinic, which provides free dental care for those in need.His commitment to continuing education led to his training by Orthognathic Bioesthetic International (OBI). OBI-trained dentists know how to treat the symptoms and causes of broken and worn teeth. Dr. Marshall knows how to create harmony with all parts of your chewing system, which leads to successful and predictable dentistry.
Dr. Marshall has lived in Portland since he was a teenager, and he cannot imagine living anywhere else. He and his wife enjoy camping, hiking, mountain climbing and deep-sea diving in addition to spending time with their children and grandchildren.
R. Justin Tooke, DMD Dr. Tooke graduated from the Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine before moving to Portland. Prior to dental school, Dr. Tooke taught high school biology and chemistry for five years in Las Vegas. He is originally from a small town in southern Utah called Hurricane. He and his wife, who were high school sweet hearts, graduated from Southern Utah University in 1998.Dr. Tooke is a strong believer in preventive dental care and helping his patients keep their teeth for a lifetime. He is committed to working with patients to create an appropriate treatment plan to fit their needs.
He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, from which he received an award for excellence in cosmetic dentistry.
Elin Dental Hygienist Elin worked as a dental hygienist in San Francisco for two years before joining Heritage Dental in 2000. She feels fortunate to have the opportunity to provide quality dental hygiene care to patients. When she is not at work, she spends time with her daughter in addition to cooking, horseback riding, hiking and camping.
Christie Dental Hygienist Christie received her bachelors degree at Texas A&M University, her masters degree at Pacific University and her dental hygiene training at Clark College. She has been working as a dental hygienist for over eight years, and she does continuing education courses annually. Christie works hard to provide her patients with high-quality care and help them achieve oral health. In her free time, she enjoys spending time playing outdoors with her 2-year-old son, Bo.
Kelly Dental Hygienist Kelly attended Chabot Community College where she got degrees in biology and dental hygiene, graduating in 2018. She worked in California for three years before moving to Portland in 2020. Kelly is fascinated by the mouth-body health connection and hopes to contribute to greater health for all. Kelly is highly involved in her community and takes every opportunity to give back. When not in the office she can be found spending time with her puppy and lizards, and enjoys nature, food and painting.
Sharon Dr. Marshalls Assistant Sharon graduated from the Concorde Career Institute in 1997, and continues her training annually to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the dental field. She has been a dental assistant for 24 years, and is dedicated to helping her patients feel cared for and comforted while receiving treatment. Sharons favorite part of being a dental assistant is the amazing people she gets to serve on a daily basis. Sharon has two adult daughters who bring her great joy, and outside the office she can volunteers for several organizations, including Breast Friends, and is a member of the Pink Phoenix Dragon Boat Team.
Franki Dr. Tookes Assistant Franki graduated in 2004, and is dedicated to giving her patients the best possible care. She enjoys dentistry, including learning new procedures and assisting multiple doctors, and loves working with her team and having so many wonderful patients to care for.
Carrie Carrie received her biology degree from Eastern Oregon University, and she is currently pursuing her masters degree in human resources. She has been in dentistry since 2003. Carrie credits her stepfather and her mothera dentist and a dental assistant, respectively, who have retired after 41 years in dentistryfor inspiring her love of dentistry at a young age. She loves helping patients feel comfortable before and after treatment, and she makes it her goal to help patients understand their dental insurance plans. In her free time, she loves traveling with her husband and taking her nieces to the Portland Zoo.
Bridget Bridget started school at PCC, and then transferred to Concorde Career College to complete her certification in dental assisting. She has been working in dentistry since graduating in 2009. She transitioned to management of the dental office in 2015, and she attends continuing education courses to improve the function of the practice. Bridget has always loved helping her patients achieve their dental goals, and now she is able to assist them in overcoming the financial burden and stress of dealing with their dental insurance company. She is also grateful to be part of an office that appreciates all of their patients and makes everyone feel like family.Bridget married her best friend in 2014, and they have two boys together. She and her family love to attend sporting events, and they are big fans of the Portland Trail Blazers and the Oregon Ducks! They also love to explore Portland, and they enjoy being on the water during the summer and at the mountain in the winter.

I got some fillings done by Dr. Marshall back in May. One filling was continually sensitive and I had to go back in to get the bite right. This didn't fix the problem and I had to go to a different dentist to get it redone. 4 months later and the second cavity he filled is sensitive to cold and I need to go back in to get it looked it. I don't recommend his dental work.

I've been served at Heritage Dental for a few years now, and feel compelled to review! Best dental experience to be found. Going to the dentist can be considered the worst part of one's day - but it never feels that way at Heritage. They make it a positive experience. Well spoken, interesting staff. My primary is Dr. Kuhn, but I am sure the other partner is equally talented. Quick, professional quality, flexible team, fair pricing, highest recommendation.

If I'd always had the level of expertise, caring, listening, and taking me seriously that I was shown here, I would never have developed the dental phobia that has made the last fifteen years of life with my teeth into a battleground of horror. This was the first cleaning I have had in more than fifteen years that did not hit exposed and sensitive nerves in my teeth. It was the first cleaning I have had in more than fifteen years that didn't have me braced with fear the whole time. And it's pretty much the first time ever that a dentist has gone over my entire set of X-rays and explained not only what he saw, but general dental anatomy and other fun facts. And they accomplished this level of comfort and care *during a pandemic*, while coping graciously with the additional level of caution and protocols necessary for their safety and mine. Every single person I interacted with was sincere, present, caring, and professional. My only regret is that I didn't start going to this clinic years ago. Don't let the slightly funky older building fool you--this is state of the art care, provided by people who are phenomenal at what they do.

Pushed me multiple times to "leave a good review" online. Did procedures i didnt ask for and was told it was covered by my insurance. Billed me a year after for nearly $400 and HOUNDED me for a payment. Will never reccomend or return. Would give 0 stars if it was possible!

I highly recommend Dr. Tooke and Heritage Dental. The staff is friendly, welcoming, professional & transparent. The quality of dental care by Dr. Tooke and his assistant Jackie. is excellent. I literally have zero complaints. They make the pain of dental work a lot less anxious from start to finish.

I chipped two teeth over a recent weekend and Dr. Tooke was able to see me almost immediately for a super fast, painless procedure that has left my teeth looking better than they did before the chips! Heritage was also the only office in town able to give me a ball park estimate over the phone which contributed to my choosing them. Everyone in the office was super kind, thoughtful, and sensitive to my lacking dental insurance. I'll be returning and will be sending my husband here as well! Thank you all!

I love this dental practice. They have high standards, empathy, and genuinely care about your teeth and your experience. I've been going here 11 years for those reasons. The folks at the front desk are so fun and friendly, and always remember you. Pricing is fair, they never try and sell me anything. I see Ellen the hygienist and she's so great. My teeth look and feel amazing after each visit. Dr. Tooke rules. I remember him saying "I love this pair of forceps" (he has a favorite pair apparently) as he masterfully pulled my 4 wisdom teeth in under 20 minutes. That's exactly the kind of deep focus, sense of immediacy, and skill I want from the person extracting bones from my jaw. Highly recommended.

Best team ever. I know what I'm able to be talking about. This team is highly professional from front desk to how they get the job done. Bridgette at the desk is an angel. What I mean is that she will go to battle for you, protect you, fend and advocate. Doc Marshall is a pro and delicate. The end result has been such a pleasure to live with.

Just found this office through my insurance. Needless to say, I am terrified to go to the dentist, as I'm sure many other people are. Dr. Tooke and his assistant Frankie were very kind and understanding of my fear and were actually able to make me laugh even though I was a blubbering mess. They made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during the replacement of my broken filling. They also continued to ask how I was feeling throughout the whole process which only made me feel more comfortable. Even though things are a little different because of new regulations due to the Covid pandemic the office staff is very helpful and open to all questions. I'm relieved to have finally found an office I can start building trust with and bringing my family on board. Thanks guys!

Dentist was on a fishing trip at time of my appointment! Didn't bother getting someone to cover. Also a traveler hygienist cleaned my teeth the poorest I've ever had.

My whole family goes here and we couldn't love it more. Thanks to Dr. Tooke and his assistants for always making my visits so easy. I've had to have a lot of work done through the years and I can't say one bad thing about any of those visits. Going to the dentist isn't fun, but I never dreaded going thanks to this office. I recently had a change in work and my insurance doesn't cover coming here anymore, but I still come here for cleanings and it's worth paying out of pocket! They're the best!
