Thats just one of many examples of the level of thoughtful detail that Dr. Breault brings to the patient experience at Heritage Dental. Going well above and beyond to provide more comfort, confidence and convenience is more than a point of pride. Its a personal philosophy that permeates every inch of the practice.
We understand that people have busy lives and less time than ever, Breault says. So we try to make our services as efficient and easy as possible for them...whether thats helping them get things done in our waiting area, or making sure we carry their insurance so payments quick and pain-free, too.
Patients can thank Dr. Breaults family wife Victoria and sons Lawson and Isaac in part for that. When I got married and had kids, it became even more important to me not just to be a great dentist, but to build a business that would be seen as a pillar of the community...something both patients and staff would be proud to be associated with. A business my kids will be proud of someday, too.
The sense of community is what attracted Dr. Breault to South Carolina when he and his family relocated from New England. Id always heard about the legendary Southern hospitality and charm, he says. But to experience it was something totally different. We fell in love with the culture, the quality of life and the strong feeling of togetherness here. Its truly a magical place to live.
Dr. Breaults passion for giving back not just to his community, but to others in need was inspired in part by volunteering in Perus Amazon River basin, during his time at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He was one of the top graduates in his class, earning induction into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. He also completed a hospital-based residency program at Hartford Hospital, which provided valuable experience in handling urgent dental emergencies. Originally from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Dr. Breault graduated from the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Breault is also a member of The American Dental Association, The Ct State Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and The Academy of Osseointegration.
In second grade, when most children her age were aspiring to be astronauts, firefighters and princesses, she told her parents she was going to be a dentist. And from that point on, she never wavered in her commitment.
That drive and determination served her and her patients well. After graduating from the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina, she opened her own practice in Greenville from the ground floor, renting a space and investing in her own equipment.
To build her practice, she did something unheard of at the time: She took out a Yellow Pages ad. While she heard about it from older, more traditional dentists in the area, it worked...and she heard from plenty of new patients, too.
A move to Edisto necessitated selling the Greenville practice, but she kept breaking new ground when she opened the islands first dentistry practice, delighting patients who had never had such close, convenient care. After almost 20 years in Edisto, she closed her practice and donated all her equipment to a local Episcopal church for a free dental clinic.
Today, Dr. McAbee is continuing to make dental care more accessible at Heritage Dental and bringing her unique entrepreneurial expertise to a relatively new practice. Im excited to help Heritage create strong connections within this community, Dr. McAbee said. And Im looking forward to working with people so dedicated to patient comfort and care. Theres a personal, human touch here that shines through in every part of the patient experience.
Along with her extensive experience, Dr. McAbee brings a holistic approach and a healthy respect for all-natural therapies shes also one of the few dentists in South Carolina whos Ozone Therapy certified. And as the parent of an autistic child, she has a special understanding of how to make patients with special needs comfortable.
