With tools like digital x-rays and the CariVu decay detection system, our Newton Centre dentist is able to point out vulnerabilities in the smile to patients. By using these advanced diagnostic technologies, Dr. Birnbaum is able to walk patients through their different treatment options, empowering individuals to make the final decision in their dental care.
Yayi Serrano brings a sharp intellect, charm and smiling face to the front desk and administrative operations of our office. As a licensed dental assistant, Yayi's role in our office began working chairside with Dr Birnbaum for several years. As her keen mind continued to explore, absorb and master new information, her role expanded to include front desk tasks, evolving into her current role as Office manager, where she synthesizes the clinical and administrative operations with caring, sensitivity and unparalleled accuracy.
Yayi, who grew up in Boston, is bilingual, fluent in Spanish, as well as English. She and her adoring husband are the dedicated parents of two beautiful sons, and share with them their love of family, education, their culture, and the great outdoors. With her sister often working by her side and, at any given time, her husband, father or mother stopping by to help out in ways they can, Yayi has taken our pride and commitment as a family operation to new and greater heights.

When visiting from abroad I had a dental emergency Dr. Birnbaum fit me in and helped me figure out what was wrong and continued to keep in touch with me throughout my trip to give me guidance and support. He was very professional and knowledgable and not quick to push invasive procedures. I highly recommend him and his lovely staff.

I have trusted Dr. Birnbaum to take care of my dental needs for over 35 years. He listens carefully to understand a problem and is excellent at recommending just what is needed -- he never tries to sell you on a treatment that is more elaborate. I definitely recommend him!

When I had a crown fall out and and was in a lot of discomfort, I called his office around 7:30 p.m., I expected that I would receive a call back the next morning. Much to my surprise Dr. Birnbaum called me back in 10 minutes and by 8:00 that evening I was in his chair. Could a dentist ever be more responsive? I doubt it. He created a "Customer for life" with me.

Change can be a good thing. After some unsatisfying experiences with a dental facility, I decided to give Dr. Birnbaum a try after seeing his name on Angie's List. What a difference! I can only describe Dr. Birnbaum's practice as holistic dentistry, the dental practice of a "Mensch" (as defined in the movie "The Apartment" starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine). Most importantly for one's dental health, he has the approach of a true craftsman who actually cares about his work, and who has the years of experience that go into the making of a craftsman. He also has a family tradition that he seeks to live up to. I have complete confidence in his dental care. Beyond that, the spiritual atmosphere of his office is first-rate. He will not leave you with the dubious feeling that you are another unit on the assembly line. He and his staff make a tight-knit family - that they care about one another is palpable. There is nothing affected about this; it just comes through in small ways. If you have an eye for detail, you will see it. If you don't, please take my word for it. Get to know him, and you will be glad you did.

Dr. Birnbaum is an exceptional dental surgeon. I found him to be thoughtful, attentive, gentle and kind. His technique is meticulous. He has superb communication skills and all the human qualities one would seek. The office is welcoming. his judgement is impeccable. He goes above and beyond for his patients. I have consulted him for several years, and he never disappoints. I would recommend him without any reservation.
