Dr. Luke Henn received his Bachelor of Arts fromFranklin College. He was accepted intoIndiana University School of Dentistrya year early, and went on to earn his Doctorate in 2001. Dr. Henn proudly served as a dentist in theUS Navyduring Operation Iraqi Freedom and after as a dentist in private practice. While practicing, he continued his education and received his orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedic specialty training and Masters degree atIU. He has worked as an orthodontist since. Dr. Henn is a member of numerous dental and orthodontic associations. He has enjoyed every minute of his dental career, and feels lucky to be in a profession he loves.
In his free time, Dr. Henn likes to have fun! His favorite thing to do is spend time with his family, his amazing wife, Chace, 3 young daughters, Hayden, Ainsley and Emerson, and their crazy dog, Molly. He also enjoys reading, coaching his daughters teams, playing golf, watching football and making people laugh.

Traditional orthodontic therapy involves tying in archwires with colored elastics or small stainless steel wires thus a tightening. This can bind up the archwire and cause the teeth to move at a slower rate or in an unwanted direction. Heavy forces must be applied to overcome inherent friction in the traditional bracket system. These heavy forces can overpower or crush the very delicate underlying blood vessels cutting off oxygen and nutrients. This can be more painful, actually slow down tooth movement, and lengthen the time of treatment. For years, the traditional thinking was that heavy forces based on what a patient could tolerate were needed to move teeth.
Traditional braces use colored elastics to hold on to the archwire. Research shows these elastics hold much more bacteria around the tooth than the newer self-ligating brackets that we use. The elastics also have to be changed more frequently because they wear out and become stained over time. Self-ligating brackets have a unique sliding door instead of colored elastics to hold the wire, and thus can require fewer adjustments. The light force, high-technology wires can continue to work for a longer period of time. This means fewer office visits than with conventional braces. We want to make your treatment as comfortable as possible and fit easily into your busy schedule.
