Dr. Kolsun opened the doors to his practice in Silver Spring on August 15, 1984. Since then, Hempfield Family Dental Care has grown from a small single chair dental office along a closed road and backed up to a cornfield, to his current facility with six chairs and a staff of nine. Following the values he learned while achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, Dr. Kolsun has always strived to provide the best dental care, while treating all of his patients as family and friends.
Today, Hempfield Family Dental Care is an integrated team of dental specialists including hygienists and expanded duty assistants, all working together to provide the best care for patients. Dr. Kolsun has invested in the latest technologies to make common procedures easier, as well as advanced diagnostic equipment that helps detect many conditions earlier. Hempfield Family Dental Care is one of only a few practices that makes use of a Velescope for pre-cancer detection.

I have been going to this practice for 20 years when Dr. Kohlson was the dentist. I raved about how personable and great everyone is. I never wanted to have to find another dentist but it looks like I'm forced too. The dentist retired and good for him, but now they do not take our insurance and we can't afford to pay out right and then wait to be reimbursed. The office called us 1 day before my husband and kids were coming in for dental cleanings, very unprofessional. They told us, it's fine just pay and insurance will reimburse you, thats $500 that we don't have. Who has that kind of money? I called the office and tried to tell them my concerns to only be cut off from the receptionist. We will not be coming to this office and spending any of our money. It's so sad that this is happening to people that have been going here for many many years and get treated like this.

Everyone was very professional and attentive to your needs. Dr.Scott takes his time and does a through exam of your teeth to resolve the problem you maybe having with your teeth !

It's not very often that you hear someone say they enjoyed visiting their dentist. Hempfield Dental Care is truly an exception. Dr.Scott and his staff, from reception to completion of service, are simply fantastic! Professional, skilled, informative, efficient, and friendly. Glad to be in their care!!

Little upset that I was charged for x-rays that my insurance company only covers every 5 years. No one called prior to my appointment to find out or advised me to do, which I would have been more then happy to. I also had issues with a cap that fell of after a root canal (which had nothing to do with them) the decision made to not put it right back on, has now caused me pain and now possibly having to get a new crown due to shifting while it was out.

I've been a patient of Hempfield Family Dental for YEARS and they are the best! I've referred people and will continue to do so as long as they're in practice. They are friendly, professional, empathetic and rock stars when it comes to dealing with dental health and specific problems. I hope they stay right where they are for years to come.
