After receiving his undergrad degree he was accepted into dental school at the prestigious New York University in Manhattan. It was there where he received his formal training in dentistry from some of the brightest and most progressive minds in the field.
He followed the philosophy of his higher education professors in resolving to do great dentistry, that ALL could afford. At New York University, the epicenter of diversity, he found a desire to extend a hand beyond what a normal dentist would do; even beyond his own dental practice to help globally. This training, 15 years ago, and seeing good people struggle living in South America for a couple years, shaped the idea of starting Helping Hand Dental Clinic.
Dr. Spencer has spent countless hours pursuing education to be up to date in the dental field. Training at the White Cap Institute education centers as well as Smile Systems. Reinforcing his training as only 1 of less than 20 US dentists qualified to do 3 on 6 treatments. He has also been a member of the Central Arizona Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Mission of Mercy.
Lifting Generations is the international program Dr Spencer has worked with. The training of our foreign dental associates in Central and South American countries, to do advanced dental implant placement and restorations. This new training, in turn, funds the school for educating the lower class community of a number of 3rd world countries. That education of those impoverished people looking for opportunity to change their own circumstances would not be possible without this program.
Spencer married his beautiful wife Laura, who is from Glendale. Her being from Arizona, where they met, and Dr Spencer speaking fluent Spanish made West Phoenix an easy choice to raise their 2 daughters.
When Dr Spencer isnt in the office or planning his next outreach trip; he is always going to be hanging out with his wife and kiddos. He and Laura love to play with their kids, travel everywhere, hike in the mountains, get to a beach and catch some waves, and they even started learning sign language (ASL) together. They are food lovers and are always looking for every kind of good food recommendation they can get.
