After receiving his undergrad degree he was accepted into dental school at the prestigious New York University in Manhattan. It was there where he received his formal training in dentistry from some of the brightest and most progressive minds in the field.
He followed the philosophy of his higher education professors in resolving to do great dentistry, that ALL could afford. At New York University, the epicenter of diversity, he found a desire to extend a hand beyond what a normal dentist would do; even beyond his own dental practice to help globally. This training, 15 years ago, and seeing good people struggle living in South America for a couple years, shaped the idea of starting Helping Hand Dental Clinic.
Dr. Spencer has spent countless hours pursuing education to be up to date in the dental field. Training at the White Cap Institute education centers as well as Smile Systems. Reinforcing his training as only 1 of less than 20 US dentists qualified to do 3 on 6 treatments. He has also been a member of the Central Arizona Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Mission of Mercy.
Lifting Generations is the international program Dr Spencer has worked with. The training of our foreign dental associates in Central and South American countries, to do advanced dental implant placement and restorations. This new training, in turn, funds the school for educating the lower class community of a number of 3rd world countries. That education of those impoverished people looking for opportunity to change their own circumstances would not be possible without this program.
Spencer married his beautiful wife Laura, who is from Glendale. Her being from Arizona, where they met, and Dr Spencer speaking fluent Spanish made West Phoenix an easy choice to raise their 2 daughters.
When Dr Spencer isnt in the office or planning his next outreach trip; he is always going to be hanging out with his wife and kiddos. He and Laura love to play with their kids, travel everywhere, hike in the mountains, get to a beach and catch some waves, and they even started learning sign language (ASL) together. They are food lovers and are always looking for every kind of good food recommendation they can get.

Everyone was friendly, Dr. Haas was super informative and didn't make me feel pressured to do anything. I will definitely be going back!

I was caught by surprise when Helping Hands appeared in my neighborhood. Not only because of their new location but because of their down to earth advertising! The website was only more of the same. Clearly outlined info on pricing and their beliefs about modesty and transparency. First my husband took our kids and for the first time in 17yrs - my husband left a dentist without being enraged by surprise charges! Today was my visit and the staff were so friendly, the doctor as advertised, and the location is gorgeous! Even more so - my check up was fast and easy. We have definitely found a new home dentist.

I walked in there absolutely terrified and extremely anxious to the point of tears. Dr. Spencer and his assistant made me feel very comfortable and I started to feel less anxious. Dr. Spencer made sure he continued to check on me to make sure I was ok. His assistant was also very comforting. I have never had a better experience at a dental office before coming here. The entire staff is amazing and I will refer as many people, as I can, to this clinic.

Had a temporary crown fall off from another dentistry and they couldn't help me out on an emergent basis. I drove to helping hand dental clinic and they fixed it immediately!! Friendly and professional. Amazing staff that loves what they do! And focuses on perfection! I highly recommend them and will be back!! I will definitely be sending my family and friends here!!

Everyone was very friendly. They have old movies to watch while you wait and while you are in the chair. (Instead of adds to explain why they are so overpriced). The Dr was perhaps the friendliest I have ever had and he wasn't trying to push me or sell me on anything extra. He was just concerned with what I came there for. I also know he was very busy and running a little behind, but he still took his time and care with me and took the time to get to know me as a new patient. I would recommend this place to anyone. I have already texted 3 friends in need.

Absolutely amazing experienece!!! From the moment I walked in the door until I left through that same door. The prices are amazing and they really work with you! I was more anxious than I realized and they were very accommodating and patient with me. I grabbed extra cards and flyers to pass around to those I know. Will absolutely be recommending to anyone who asks for a dentist!!

Wow, just wow! Helping Hands Dental Clinic is true to its name! From the moment you walk in, there's a welcoming feel, not just in their decor, but from the staff (Dr. Spencer was actually the first smiling face that greeted us!), the silver hand shaped bowl full of chocolate kisses (what dentist office greets you with candy?!?), and their more than affordable pricing structure boldly emblazoned on the wall (no surprise costs that slaps you in the face and makes you fear seeing a dentist, more than actual dental procedures!). $10 dental exams! Unheard of! But it's true! None of that "you get what you pay for" here. They have state of the art machines and take their time to get to know you and your specific needs. They explain what's going on without the shame. This is dentistry FOR the people!

Iwas treated with a friendly and professional staff.The hygienist was very good friendly , professional i felt very comfortable no pain. Dr Haak explained my dental health with me answered all my ? Office and restrooms very very clean.I was very pleased with everything including affordable prices and scheduled my next visit.Will tell all my family and friends where to go for the best dental care!

Dr. Spencer and staff were Excellent. Went in for a broken molar and needed an extraction. Dr. Spencer reviewed my xrays with me, gave me options and explained other treatments I needed. But at no moment did they pressure me to commit to any other services. I highly recommend Dr. Spencer at Helping Hand Dental Clinic. I am definitely going back to take care of my dental needs. Dr. Spencer and his Staff deserve 10 stars not just 5.

I've had 2 appts so far, both dentists were PHENOMENAL, but the whole staff really came together with an amazing and thorough care plan for this busy single mom. The assistants truly make the place comfortable, trusting and overall this place far outshines any dentist I've been to in the last 20 years. Switching my entire family over!

I took my fiance up here to have an oral surgery performed. If I could give Dr. Spencer and his staff 10 stars on this review I would!!! Completely taken back and blown away by the humble spirit that Dr. Spencer portrayed not only to myself clients and staff he is a maverick of a man! This is the new and upcoming face of Denistry in America word gets out about helping hands Denistry it will be a national brand before long.... The transparency the cleverly worded plaques on the wall everything about the place screamed integrity and honor !!!!!! I was completely taken back... Incredible staff affordable prices kind spirited humble but yet educated people the coolest thing about Dr. Spencer is that he's a doctor that drives his dad's 2003 Dodge pick up truck with pride because he wants to keep it simple and he wants to keep it humble there is something to be said for people that want to serve And want to help others there will be a special place in heaven for him someday! Can't say enough nice things he went and bought all of his staff lunch and even offered me while I waited on my fiance to get done with her procedure he offered to buy me lunch or something to drink as well ..... A person like Dr. Spencer is the kind of person that we need to have in the politics of this country to get things straightened out do you want to talk about somebody who squared away humble kind intelligent check all the boxes these guys are 10 star rated!!! Nice little office nice people just wish dr.haak would have had the guts to be open and honest with me at the time I made my apt and paid in full before my apt to get it pulled and 3 cavities done. the cavities went quick and pain less the part that appsoluty turned me off to this place was how fast he was up and out of the room when he realized the pills they gave me didn't work on top of the 3 or 4 shots I got in the mouth now I have to go spend a 1000 plus dollars to get a failed tooth extraction done that after me explaining to him that it's very hard to num my mouth and I get really nervous about the dentist I would have had total respect for him if he just said you did a dental surgery but let's take care of the other stuff this would have been a 5 rateing

Absolutely as advertised. My teeth are humiliating bad due to years of substance abuse and neglect. The staff was professional and made me very comfortable in every aspect of my interaction. This practice is a rare find!

As a person who used to work as a dental assistant in a very respected dental office, I was happy to find this gem. I came in today because of a cavity I knew needed to be taken care of. I was worried I would need a crown but definitely didn't want one unless it was truly necessary. A different dentist that I went to previously told me I should crown this tooth but I wanted a second opinion. I was pleased when Dr. Spencer told me if it were his own tooth, he wouldn't crown it yet and it would be perfectly fine to do a filling. That was music to my ears! I was able to do the filling on the spot and was so glad to have it fixed well. His staff is friendly and he's a down to earth kind of doctor who treats you with care being sure to educate you along the way. I always feel comfortable and well taken care of. Thanks again!
