Dr. Steven L. Hechler has specialized in the practice of orthodontics in Johnson County since 1987. Dr. Hechler grew up in north central Missouri. He pursued his undergraduate training at the University of Missouri - Columbia. He received his dental degree at UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating at the top of his class. After attaining his dental degree, Dr. Hechler then trained for three years in the orthodontic department of the Mayo Clinic. There he was awarded both a Certificate of Orthodontics and masters degree. Dr. Hechler attends many continuing education seminars and speaks to orthodontists and orthodontic residents on a number of topics.
Dr. Hechler is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction fewer than 39 percent of orthodontists attain. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Hechler served as the 2015 -2016 President of the Kansas Dental Association (KDA), completing a 6 year term as an officer of the KDA.
Dr. Steven Hechler and his wife have two sons. Both are dentists who graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry. In addition to Dr. Paul, Dr. Ben is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing on the East coast. Dr. Hechler and his wife reside in Leawood, Kansas and his hobbies include golf, traveling and family activities.
Dr. Paul Hechler grew up in Overland Park, KS and attended Blue Valley North High School. He pursued his undergraduate training at Wake Forrest University Winston Salem, North Carolina. He received his dental degree at UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating as a member of the OKU National Dental Honor Society. After attaining his dental degree, Dr. Paul completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa. There he was awarded both a Certificate of Orthodontics and masters degree.

I had braces at Hechler orthodontics as a child (and didn't wear my retainer), and I went back to them again as an adult. They still had the pictures of my teeth from 98 on file which is incredible! I chose Hechler this time after many consults, because Dr. Steven Hechler was the most knowledgeable that I met with. He fully explained the process and options I had. He also let me know invisiline wouldn't get me the results I wanted unlike other places, who were just going to take my money- we decided on braces so that I'd be fully happy with my results (which were less expensive than invisiline). The staff is the friendliest I met with, and you'll feel like family when you're at Hechler- Dr. Steven even called himself the day after my braces were put on to make sure I was doing okay.

got my braces here 10 years ago, my teeth still look great. I worked here for a little too and thats a different story. I dont recommend.

Dr Hechler and his son Dr Paul Hechler and the staff are wonderful! They took a lot of time detailing the plan for my daughters teeth and making sure we were comfortable. The day she got her braces was swift and painless and Dr Hechler called later that night to check in on her. I had him as a orthodontist in junior high and he is still just as kind and proficient as he was back then. Thanks!

Hechler Orthodontics did a great job with my orthodontic work. Mine was more of a bite issue and I had to wear a lot of rubber bands. They were very professional and always worked with my schedule. My dentist recommended Hechler because they do great work, especially correcting bite issues. I would definitely recommend Hechler Orthodontics!!

The doctors and nurses were so nice to me and my family. They got us in and out quick and would answers any questions we had. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. They are some of the best people I've ever met. The entire community of people that works there is so nice. They got to know me personally and would ask me questions about my day and school. Such lovely people. I cannot say anything but good things about them.

Our family first started our relationship with Hechler Orthodontics in 2013 when my oldest daughter got braces. Next up my younger daughter and now - I too have braces, because I wanted their beautiful "pageant smile." Both Dr. Steven Hechler and Dr. Paul Hechler have a great bedside manner and do a good job of communicating with their patients. The hygienists are great and the front desk assistants are always friendly and helpful. Our family has been very pleased with both the service and results received at Hechler Orthodontics.

Maybe a good ortho, but if you have tmj issues don't go here. Doctors seems ignoring any concerns that you might have and have limited knowledge on tmj.

Staff and doctors are very attentive, costs were all clearly explained upfront and all unexpected adjustments were included. Doctors Hechler and Hechler have both been very pleasant in appointments and happy to answer any questions.
