Dr. Steven L. Hechler has specialized in the practice of orthodontics in Johnson County since 1987. Dr. Hechler grew up in north central Missouri. He pursued his undergraduate training at the University of Missouri - Columbia. He received his dental degree at UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating at the top of his class. After attaining his dental degree, Dr. Hechler then trained for three years in the orthodontic department of the Mayo Clinic. There he was awarded both a Certificate of Orthodontics and masters degree. Dr. Hechler attends many continuing education seminars and speaks to orthodontists and orthodontic residents on a number of topics.
Dr. Hechler is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction fewer than 39 percent of orthodontists attain. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Hechler served as the 2015 -2016 President of the Kansas Dental Association (KDA), completing a 6 year term as an officer of the KDA.
Dr. Steven Hechler and his wife have two sons. Both are dentists who graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry. In addition to Dr. Paul, Dr. Ben is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing on the East coast. Dr. Hechler and his wife reside in Leawood, Kansas and his hobbies include golf, traveling and family activities.
Dr. Paul Hechler grew up in Overland Park, KS and attended Blue Valley North High School. He pursued his undergraduate training at Wake Forrest University Winston Salem, North Carolina. He received his dental degree at UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating as a member of the OKU National Dental Honor Society. After attaining his dental degree, Dr. Paul completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa. There he was awarded both a Certificate of Orthodontics and masters degree.
