Dr. Carolyn Loughlin is an exceptional pediatric and adolescent dentist whose goal is to make your childs visits the best possible dental experience. As a pediatric specialist, she consistently provides high quality and individualized care in a nurturing and respectful environment. As a mother of three children, Dr. Loughlin understands the uniqueness of every child and how to develop their trust and confidence while caring for their oral health. By providing each patient with her undivided attention and welcoming parental involvement, your child will be assured of a comfortable and positive experience. She is also trained and experienced in caring for children and adults with special health care needs and offers treatment at Nemours Dupont Surgery Center for those individuals who require this avenue of care.
Dr. Loughlin is a graduate of UCLA, a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, graduating 4th in her class, and received her pediatric training at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. She is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). She is an active staff member at Nemours Dupont Surgery Center in Bryn Mawr and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Outside of the office, Dr. Loughlin enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Carl Horchos (general dentist of Chestnut Dental Associates in Downingtown, PA) and her 3 growing children. She also appreciates the outdoors and traveling in her spare time.
Cathy brings almost 40 years of dental assisting experience to the Healthy Young Smiles team, which includes both general and pediatric dental care. She entered the pediatric dental field with Healthy Young Smiles in 2014. She assists Dr. Loughlin both in the office and with surgery center procedures. When she is out of the office, she likes to spend time with her girls and family as well as take opportunities to travel.
Mary is an enthusiastic and experienced member of our crew with 40 years of dental assisting & counting. She has worked in specialties ranging from orthodontics to periodontics, but pediatrics at Healthy Young Smiles has been her favorite area of dentistry. She retains a bachelors in psychology from West Chester University and is mother of five as well as a grandmother of seven. She loves movies and stays active with volleyball as well as softball, however her favorite activity is being with her family.
Tami entered the Healthy Young Smiles team in 2017 and has practiced as a devoted dental hygienist verging on 35 years. She first earned her degree as a registered dental hygienist at Northampton Community College and has since gained experience in both general practice and pediatric dentistry. In her spare time, she finds enjoyment in traveling with her husband and spending time with her two adult daughters.
Kirby has been with Healthy Young Smiles since its start in 2013 as a diligent dental hygienist as well as a full-time mother of four under four: Jack, Scarlett, Vivienne, and Peter. She fell in love with pediatric dentistry after graduating as a registered dental hygienist from Montgomery County Community College in 2011. Her favorite age group is toddlers because she delights in seeing their excitement when they visit the office and get to meet the dentist. She is happily married to her husband, Joey, and in their free-time they find joy in watching their children grow as individuals each and every day.
Melanie joined Healthy Young Smiles as Office Manager in 2015. She has had over 30 years of experience in pediatric dentistry and loves the field to this day. Presently, she resides in Downingtown, PA and enjoys spending her free time with her daughter, Mackenzie, a nursing student at Immaculata University and her dog, Kudos. Melanie is also an active member of her community, as she has served as a volunteer at St. Anthonys Womens Auxiliary for over 10 years.
Kate is the one of first to greet you when you come to our office. As an administrative receptionist, she has served the dental profession with her dedicated and friendly demeanor since the age of 16. She has been part of the Healthy Young Smiles crew since the beginning in 2013. She currently lives in Malvern, PA with her daughter and their pet hamster, Turkey. She especially loves spending her time outside of the office cooking, crafting, and making memories with her beloved family & friends.
Cecilia, Dr. Loughlins eldest child, became a part of the Healthy Young Smiles team when she earned her Dental Health & Radiology Certification in 2014. Since then, she has worked as a dental auxiliary personnel with the office, while also pursuing a career in dentistry, as she is currently enrolled at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Cecilia also obtained the rank of black belt 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan in 2008 and a bachelors degree in neuroscience from the University of Scranton in 2019.

It's June 2022, this place is still requiring masks to be worn. What an absolute joke of a decision.

We love Dr. Loughlin snd her staff! 1. Best Covid protected doctors office I have been to! I am immune compromised and hesitant to go out in our current pandemic. The entire office is super clean and set up to keep each patient safe. Everything is well thought out and all preventative measures are taken. I felt very safe taking my son to get his teeth cleaned. 2. The staff is always caring. My son started coming here when he was really little and he was really afraid but the expertly eased him into everything and now he is 8 yrs-old and totally chill in the chair. That is a result of the amazing staff and Dr. Loughlin. 3. During non Covid times, my son can't wait to play the arcade games in the waiting room and we love the animal theme.

Doctor Loughlin at Healthy Young Smiles is unprofessional with the adults she interacts with while tending to children. My daughter, who is six years old, had two cavities on one side and two on the other. We came in for the first visit for filling the one side of the mouth. When my daughter was done with the fillings for the first visit, she was crying and visibly upset because she never experienced her mouth numb like that. As my daughter is crying, the doctor tells me to focus on herself (the doctor) so she can explain something to me about my daughter's breathing from the mouth being a problem, and the doctor needing her to breathe from the nose. The doctor's tone of voice was very belittling. When I told her that I was trying to focus on my daughter crying, she said that the nurse can deal with that and that I need to understand what she (the doctor was saying). After this incident, I told a few people who all told me not to go back again, after being treated this way. I did not listen and always like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Fast forward to today. I went into the office and gave Benadryl to my daughter, as advised. The doctor started to work on my daughter's mouth and looked up at me and said, "She's gagging. I can't do this." To which I said, "Okay, ummm.. are you done then?" I was bewildered on what she wanted me to say. She then repeated herself and said, "I can't do this with her gagging. It's not even safe for me to do so." To which I said, "Okay, so do you need to stop?" She then stated she will finish the one filling and be done. Leaving me with one of the fillings undone. I then started to text my husband to let him know the news. I look up from my telephone and the doctor is staring at me and telling me not to text. I then told her I was texting my husband the news. She was snarky back at me. At this point, I told her she was being nasty and she turns to her assistant and says something like "do you think this is true"? Of course, the assistant states that she is not nasty. The doctor then ignores me the rest of the time. Leaves the room. Doesn't tell me that she did just the one filling. I had to ask the assistant if that was what was done. As I am leaving, I am walked out by another person telling me never to come to the practice again. At this point, I am in tears. I share this story so that other parents know what I just went through at this practice. It was not professional nor warranted.

Dr. Loughlin and her staff were absolutely amazing with my four daughters. I highly recommend this practice. Quality care like this is hard to find. When it comes to your children you always want the best and that's what you'll find at Healthy Young Smiles!!!

My son loves Dr. Laughlin! They do a great job cleaning my son's teeth. They are very kid friendly. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because I would rather know how much everything will cost up front for a filling, tooth extraction, etc. so I can budget and prepare for unexpected expenses at the dentist. They are very accommodating when it comes to payments and will work with you.

I understand this practice no longer accepts CHIP, but notifying patients via email on 1/2 when the effective date was 12/1 is completely unacceptable. I am now left to find my three children a new dentist, with absolutely no notice. Disgraceful.

Wonderful staff. My children love it there. Very caring and gentle. Wouldn't take them anywhere else. Dr. Loughlin is absolutely the best, hands down.

My daughter never complains about going to the dentist, but I have a complete phobia of dentists in general. Although our wait this visit was longer than normal, the visits are usually quick and efficient. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. My daughter got her tooth filled yesterday and she asked if she could go back and get it done again! I'm glad she continues to have positive experiences with a dentist. She just turned 12 and I'm hesitant to switch from a pediatric facility until I really have to!
