Dr. Terry J. Preece is the premier dentist in Anchorage. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1980 and started and maintained a successful private general practice with an emphasis on cosmetics in Layton, Utah for 28 years.
In 2008 he moved to SE Alaska, to the island of Wrangell, where he practiced at a community health center. Being the only dentist on the island, he provided a wide array of dental services for the entire population of 1,800 people. In August of 2010, he and his family moved to Anchorage, where he began practicing at his current location, the Healthy Smiles Dental.
Dr. Preece attends extensive continuing education courses and is deeply committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive, full-care dentistry in Anchorage AK. He is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Alaska Dental Society, and Anchorage Dental Society.
Dr. Terry Preece enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He is an active member of his church. He has been married for over 40 years and is the father of three children.

Debbie is the Business Administrator/CFO and she has been involved in dentistry for over 40 years. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in computer programming she worked for many years in the banking/computer systems industry. She then received a Master of Business Administration degree in 2019 and is very excited to put to rest the myth that old dogs cant be taught new tricks. Dr. Preece and Debbie have been married 45 years, have three very talented children, and six fun-loving grandchildren. Debbie is an active member of her church and teaches Sunday School, enjoys crocheting, sewing, reading, and playing board and iPhone games.
In 1978 Debbie took a 3-month dental assisting course and was hooked on dentistry. A few years later, she discovered that while interacting with patients in the office is exciting, her real passion is the business aspects of the practice. She oversees all the non-clinical aspects of the office including patient and insurance billing, payments, and personnel matters. Debbie loves her job because she is a numbers person who enjoys making sure everything is balanced.
Furthermore Debbie believes in volunteering her time and talents and participated in the 2014 and 2016 Alaska Mission of Mercy events in Anchorage. In 2002 Debbie volunteered to work as a dental assistant at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. It was a fabulous experience interacting with athletes and coaches from all over the world.
Jenekah is the Patient Relations & Marketing Specialist at Healthy Smiles Dental. Originally from Utah, she moved to Alaska in 2010. She graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah with an Associates degree in Interior Design Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Sales. She loves learning new skills and educating herself on new topics. Jenekah is an extrovert by day and an introvert by night. She loves meeting new people and learning about their lives and helping them attain their goals, but at the end of the day, she likes to relax by binge-watching her favorite shows and working on projects. A few of her hobbies include reading, hand lettering, socializing with friends, making hand-made cards, and doing acts of service for family, friends, and neighbors. She is excited to be a part of the Healthy Smiles team and looks forward to helping patients achieve their dream smiles.

I have been going to Healthy Smiles Dental for a good many years. Dr Preece is a very capable and proficient dentist. His friendly office has all the latest equipment to help maintain oral health. He has done wonders for mine.

Great office with extremely friendly staff. They take the time to get to know their patients and what is important to them, and are very thorough with examinations and care. The office is very well kept and provides a comfortable atmosphere. Glad to have found such a great dentist after moving to AK

I love this place. My wife and I moved to Alaska 3 years ago leaving my family dentist behind that I had know since I was a teenager. Having moved up here we tried many different well known and referred dentists in Anchorage and all have fallen way short of our expectations and overall trust in their practices. Many of them have tried to upsell us on cavities and rootcanals we did not need. Thank God I had a chance to refer back to my old dentist before proceding through with their work. Those awful trial error all stopped when we found Heathy Smiles Dental with Dr. Preece. His office is warm and welcoming. His staff is kind and pleasent and goes above and beyond their duties to take care of their patients. They even watched and played with my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son while my wife was being seen. Dr. Preece is kind and gentle while working in your mouth. He is thorough in his work and explains what he is doing and seeing while working. You can tell he is passionate about his profession and if thats not enough. They have chairs that meassage you while you're being worked on to help people like me with bad backs. I would highly recommend coming in and checking out Healthy Smiles Dental. I am not an easy person to please by any means, but the staff and Dr. PREECE have gained my trust, respect and business for as long as I am in need of Dental work and in Anchorage.... and I love candy so I expect to see them quite often. Lol

Great family dental group. Our family of four has been a loyal client for over 4 years. We always get just the right care, options for treatments, and never feel rushed or forced into getting stuff done. Though it isn't explicitly named a 'Pediatric' or 'Kids' dentistry, they are very kid friendly. Both of our kiddos enjoy being in the chair with Dr. Preece, our youngest just as soon as she could walk, just to get the feel for it. They also do an excellent job of maximizing health/dental insurance coverage through experience and scheduling. And most importantly (to me) never has a hygienist, or Dr. Preece himself, butchered my gums while flossing me at Healthy Smiles Dental! And I thank you for that!

Dr. Preece is one of the most knowledgeable and thorough dentists we have known in our 35 years of adult dental care! He takes the necessary time to perform exams thoroughly, with great attention to detail. He carefully listened to our concerns and developed a tailored treatment plan for us. His assistants are also knowledgeable and friendly. First-class office with outstanding service!

I really debated posting my experience here, but it was just horrible and upsetting. Basically, they can't do a simple cavity filling without inflicting pain and they don't know how to do accounting. The details are below if you care to know more. In my first visit (Feb 2021), I had x-rays and a consultation, to which they found a cavity that needed to be filled. I had that cavity filled by Dr.Preece and for the next two days my new cavity was in excruciating pain to where I couldn't open my mouth, this is not my first cavity. I paid the full co-pay amount they told me at that time for the x-rays and for the white filling. All I wanted was a teeth cleaning, but needed the consultation first. So a month or so later I come in to get my teeth cleaned by a different person, which came out good. I chose to go elsewhere to get a tooth removed come to find out the filling for that tooth that Dr.Preece completed was already broken (Jan 2022). That's right that meant I had to pay again to get it redone by someone else. Now, Jan 2022 I get a notice in the mail saying I owe them money, which is suspicious because it's almost a year later. I was told it was because my insurance co-pay was actually a higher amount. So I asked for an explanation and paid the remaining balance because I no longer had that insurance and could not confirm this statement. Dr. Preece's office said they sent multiple MAIL notices, but I didn't recieve anything until Jan, they could have easily given me a call, or sent me an email (I sure did get their Christmas email). Then after paying that amount a YEAR later I get another notice in the mail saying I still owe money, again I went in and they said they didn't get their numbers right AGAIN!

I generally hate the dentist. I have had a lot of bad experiences, but Dr Preece dose his best to make you as comfortable as possible. 10 out of 10 would recommend this to everyone.
