Before Hazel Green Dental became the go-to neighborhood practice for advanced dental care, Dr. Luke J. Powell was hard at work in dental school after graduating from Auburn University. Once his studies were complete, he set out to open a dental practice in the Huntsville area. The small-town charm of nearby Hazel Green and the need for local dental care looked to be the perfect match, and the initial concept for Hazel Green Dental was born.

Dr. Luke Powell was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. Upon matriculation from Huntsville High School, he attended Auburn University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry. While at Auburn, Luke and his wife Sarah Robins (also a Huntsville native) were married. They then moved to Birmingham where Luke attended UAB Dental School. After graduation, he became the dental director at Christ Health Center, a non-profit, mission-oriented clinic in the impoverished neighborhood of Woodlawn in Birmingham. His time there complete, Luke and Sarah Robins have returned to North Alabama. Luke enjoys spending time with Sarah Robins and their four children, Charlotte, Farris, Helen and Peter, as well as time at the lake with friends and family. He is excited to fulfill the dream of starting a practice and looks forward to forging lasting relationships with his patients at Hazel Green Dental.
Dr. Cassie Wells was raised in Meridianville, Alabama and graduated from Hazel Green High School. After high school, she completed her bachelors degree in Biochemistry at UAB, and then she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at UAB School of Dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys being involved at church, hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Wells feels blessed to have the ability to change someones self-confidence through ones smile, and her most rewarding moments are when she is able to improve someones life through her dental practice. Dr. Wells dream has always been to practice dentistry in her hometown and have a positive impact on her community.
