Dr. Joyner has been a staple of the Los Angeles dental community since 1979. She opened our dental practice in 1985 to provide the highest quality care and service to children in the Los Angeles area. Having completed her fellowship training with a focus on special needs children, Dr. Joyner has a distinct interest in treating special needs patients, particularly children with autism.
Patients love Dr. Joyner because of the amount of time she spends with them and because she is truly caring and builds trust in her patient relationships. Her favorite part of her job is turning a fearful child into one who loves to come to the dentist with no fear at all.
Being very active in various charitable organizations, Dr. Joyner devotes much of her time to mentoring and caring for underserved children in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas areas. She has two children a daughter, Brooke, and Dr. Brent Tucker, her son who has joined her in practice here at Hawthorne Smile Spa. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, walking, and traveling.
Dr. Tucker is a big proponent of using his skills to give back to his community and abroad. He is an ambassador for the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Future dental van in Los Angeles. He also goes on regular dental mission trips. He has completed three such trips to Jamaica and plans to take more.
His young patients love working with him because of the amount of time he spends with them. He likes to explain things thoroughly, not only to the parent but to the child as well. He feels that this builds trust. His favorite part of his job is when a fearful child comes in and has a great visit. He loves how excited they are when their fear is overcome.
Dr. Karen Armour became a dentist in 1980 because she wanted the freedom to help patients by being a community health provider. She also wanted to be able to have a family and prayerfully see immediate results for her patients.
Patients love her because she takes the time to listen to them. Dr. Armour is gentle and compassionate. Her 40 years of experience have shown her that dentistry is a rewarding profession, and shes not looking to retire anytime soon!

My whole family goes to this clinic! The staff are always friendly and makes you feel at ease. Even my husband feel relaxed with their Dentists. My 6-yr-old daughter loves Dr. Tucker. She always look forward to her visits!

I had bad experience at two other dental offices. I had been dealing with a tooth ache for two months. Couldn't find a decent dental office. I was refer to Hawthorne Smile Spa by a friend, I was so nervous and scared. Well the staff at Hawthorne Smile Spa made me feel comfortable they were so sweet. Doctor was kind they explained what I needed. Thank you so much my experience with you guys was amazing. I will definitely will be coming back. I will most definitely refer you to friends and family.

I have been with Dr. Joyner for over 24yrs and to date has never had a bad experience and she has been especially great with my daughter Elise who has down syndrome she has been with Dr. Joyner since she was 5yrs old and now her son also takes great care of my whole family including my 87yr old mother. I LOVE THEM!!!!

Very very unprofessional non compassionate, unethical staff I asked for my X-ray I took at their office one hour ago they gave me the runaround for 3 hours to send me a simple exray for one infected tooth to another office I called them like a dozen of times to remind them to send it they would take the email tell you it will be sent right away and nothing I call again the same nonsense very uncaring non compassionate inhumane staff I will never ever step into that office again and everyone I know will definitely know about it the most uncomfortable time wasting unprofessional rude staff I've encountered all these years I've been in any medical facility whatsoever

So far this is my first visit but it was nice experience cecy and ibeth make my son feel so comfortable they explain my son what is going to happen so he wasn't nervous even if he is a autistic boy they make hin feel calm thanks the only thing that I don't like it was it seem the push about the payment or the ansurance number .even the little sign in the front desk ask do not leave before you pay but it was a nice experience thanks doctor too see you soon.
