Dr. Verny founded Hawthorne Dental & Braces with a focus on quality dental care, superior patient care and affordability of dental and orthodontic care for everyone. He is a Bruin for life, having earned both graduate and undergraduate degrees from UCLA and UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Verny specializes in restorative dentistry and orthodontics. He often coordinates patient care among multiple specialists in the practice. Outside of work, Dr. Verny enjoys tennis, reading, hiking, and spending time with his family. Dr. Verny is a fan of all sports, enjoys watching his children play sports and watching sports on TV.
Dr. Jonathan R. Shadi was raised in the Los Angeles Area where he received his B.S. degree in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles with College Honors. He attained his DDS from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry where he accomplished being on the Deans List multiple times, in addition received the John Ingle Research award in 2009. After his dental training, he completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, California in 2010. Dr. Shadi completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno in 2014 and has been working in a private practice setting in the Greater Los Angeles area since completing his residency program. He maintains hospital privileges at UCLA Hospital - Santa Monica. Dr Shadi is well versed in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery while taking a particular interest in wisdom teeth extractions, IV general anesthesia, single or multiple/complex dental implant surgery, and bone grafting.
Dr. Talia Shainhouse Lebovitz is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She is highly trained in the fields of implant dentistry, cosmetic periodontal treatment and periodontal disease and its treatment. Dr. Shainhouse completed her Bachelors of Science in Biology in Toronto, Canada. She then received her DDS from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. Following her graduation, Dr. Shainhouse moved to New York City where she received her post-graduate degree from NYU College of Dentistry. She completed her specialty training at the Ashman Department of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry, where she was mentored by world-renowned experts in the field of oral and periodontal medicine. Dr. Shainhouse is a clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the North Eastern Society of Periodontists, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Shainhouse has lectured at various continuing education courses including; the Tri-School Periodontics Symposium, The Greater New York Dental Meeting and the Southern California Orofacial Academy annual meeting in Spring 2012.
Dr. David Kim was raised in Southern California where he also received the majority of his training. Dr. Kim went to the illustrious University of Southern California, joining a long tradition of excellence in dental care and commitment to the betterment of patients smiles. Dr. Kim has also received advanced dental training from various dental organizations such as CDI, ADI, and AGD. Dr. Kim maintains a passion for comestic and implant dentistry, both fields where he has received advanced training. Dr. Kim has been in private practice in the Greater Los Angeles area as well as devotes time to volunteer services such as ADA Cares and LADS Volunteer Outreach Programs. In his spare time, Dr. Kim is an avid Lakers fan and a self proclaimed fantasy football King.
Dr. Michelle Mian is an east coast native that has happily joined the sunny Southern California community. She is a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Masters in Medical Science, and Orthodontic Certificate. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Dental Association. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, scuba diving, and eating lots of ice cream!

If you are getting braces don't get them here I saw the orthodontist and he said need jaw surgery and I got 3 other opinions and they all said all I need is an expander. They are trying to take all your money.

TERRIBLE! Please if you are in search for a new dentist office I beg you to go somewhere else. This office FEEDS off of the low-income black and hispanic customers and scams them out of their money. The office ladies are constantly yelling on the phone to customers, giving everyone terrible attitude, my little brother hates going to get his braces checked because he knows he'll have to interact with the mean office ladies and dental assistants. But wait that's not all! The Dentist never walked through what she was doing to my little brother but to her next patient, who was a white girl, she coddled and explained to her everything and was even laughing talking about their days. The Office ladies are even more terrible! All they do is flirt with the male doctor. Screaming loudly about getting drunk, going to clubs, and getting tattoos in an office full of children!!!!!!!! Their professionalism is terrible. I know for a FACT that all these 5 star reviews are written by them or their family's because as soon as you want into this place, there is always a customer not satisfied with their service. It is so sad to see this place still operating. They take advantage of low income minorities.PLEASE DO NOT COME

We paid the full braces treatment for my brother and when they shut down for covid he missed some appts. They reimbursed him just 2 treatments then said that he needed to pay $145 monthly for 6-9 more months and that if we don't want to continue treatment that we look for somewhere else to remove the braces because they dont want to be liable. Dont ever come here unless you want to be scammed out of so much more money.

I went to get my tooth extracted and they did the WORST job ever! It hurt soo much! I do not recommend it at all! I got my braces here and it was okay. I couldn't move dentist office so I had to stay here. I would not recommend you to come here!

The entire staff is very professional, courteous, enthusiastic and ready to assist you. The Doctors are thorough in their examination. They walk you through each procedure to ensure you understand the process. I find it so refreshing to be the recipient of excellent Dental care. What a rip off. They want over $5000 cash and I have insurance. The doctor uses a technical word so the insurance company doesn't have to pay, so the bill would be the patients. All they want is cash from the patients. Do not go there.. They should move their business to rolling hills or Beverly hills.. but he might go to jail there for ripping off the patients.

I visited Hawthorne Dental and saw Dr Kim i had a root canal and a crown done and they did a excellent job. Mary Mendoza & Maria Flores both were awesome dental assistants. MARIA DID A GREAT JOB ON MY TEMPORARY CROWN!!!!! I am a customer 4 life!

Going to the dentist is never fun. I had huge Anxiety and these guys were excellent! Doctor Tim rocks! I've never been happier with my dental work. They made me feel comfortable and I had a major procedure done. My procedures were a lot of money and they were able to arrange financing that I could afford. Worth 5 stars

I never disliked a dental place as much as I do with this one. I decided to go for braces but was told I needed a root canal for one of my teeth. I went ahead with the procedure and everything was fine until the crown had to be placed. This was the absolute worst. I went in 3 different times because the crown did not fit. I was wasting my time and time off work. Until the final visit, the crown was finally placed. Not even 10 minutes later, I had to go back because the crown fell off. The crown fell off at least 2 more times after that meaning I would have to go back to this place 2 more times (keep in mind I followed all guidelines to prevent it from happening). My last visit was because the crown fell off. Until I decided to go back to my primary dentist and he said the the procedure was done absolutely wrong and was surprised I didn't have unrepairable damage. I had to ultimately remove the tooth because I still had pain eating after about 2 months. Never again will I come here.
