Dr. Camden Tokunaga is a second-generation dentist known for his comfort-conscious approach. He strives to make each visit as pleasant as possible, helping patients overcome the fear and anxiety of seeing the dentist. Dr. Tokunaga enjoys talking story and getting to know his patients, Its so nice meeting patients that say they saw my parents when they were kids, and not only are they still with us, they even bring their kids to see us as well.
Dr. Ashley Takiguchi loves seeing her patients grow from adorable, laughing little kids to dream-filled teens with healthy smiles. My goal is to create a positive and fun experience at a young age so that our patients enjoy seeing us, and consequentially, reduce their dental anxiety, she said.

Hawaii family dental lihue is a good clinic they have a good workers specially the doctors. But how I wish they have more doctors out there to make the process more easy and faster on all the appointments specially the emergency cases like tooth extraction and Dental implants

The entire staff were all so friendly, kind and helpful. As a new patient with an urgent matter and no insurance, they helped me by offering a decent insurance plan and some stayed late to take care of my problem. I am relieved to find Hawaii Family Dental due to their caring nature. I dread dentistry...they made it easier. Very grateful.

They don't have good service .no specialist you have to go to Oahu to get your teeth fix.

I had a crown that broke in half while on vacation. They were so nice! They got me in the same morning I called. I was only in the office 1 hour and the doctor had put a temporary filling over the exposed tooth to protect it until I can get the crown fixed when I return home. Thanks to the lovely folks at Hawaii Family Dental I was able to enjoy the remainder of my vacation with piece of mind. Mahalo nui loa!

I came in for a cleaning. It didn't take long for the dental hygienist to sanitize her area and bring me in to get started. She was very pleasant and I was very relaxed in my seat. The cleaning was quick and thorough. No complaints!

I don't know how this place has such a high rating or how they are still in business, they are a disgusting and crooked establishment. I went in for a cleaning and the place was filthy, missing light fixtures, unkempt and unprofessional looking. The worst part is I was told I had four cavities which is impossible as I go twice a year for cleanings and am very stringent in my dental care routine..so I got a second opinion from a much more professional dental office and guess what Hawaii family dental definitely lied to me, I had no cavities what a surprise! This place will be reported for their shady practices and I hope they get shut down before they take advantage of any unwitting people.

Loved the orthodontist, Dr. Tom and my experience with getting braces here however the two hygienists I got were very rude and borderline unprofessional. I suffer from anxiety and depression which led to not some not great care of my teeth. The male hygienist basically made me cry and questioned why my teeth had these issues for me being young. He started to ask questions about my personal life and then asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, when I said a teacher, he said, "how can you be a teacher if you don't take care of your teeth or listen to what the dentists say. how would expect your students to listen?" These are very sensitive questions to ask and those comments should not be made in a professional setting. I already felt scared and anxious with someone being up in my mouth- scared they were going to judge me and then they did judge me. I have not visited a dentist since this appointment as I am too frightened to be judged again by a dentist. This happened about two years but I have built up enough courage to bring this up now. Extremely disheartening and disappointing.

Great place to get you dental work done. Professionalism and comfort was my experience when got my exam and filling. Time management is a definite plus. I'm impressed with this establishment and will highly recommend to everyone.

After having an awful experience at another dentist with my son, we came here and couldn't be happier. My son, 4 and daughter, 2 have been excited to go to the dentist since we started coming to this practice. Christopher Yamada was so lovely and we were in and out fast! I love when professionals know how to deal with children and make them feel comfortable. Thanks you guys!

Fast, efficient, friendly service. I was able to be seen the next day and had an exam and xray. A few days later, my chipped tooth was worked on and fitted with a temp crown by Dr. Apala and his assistant. I am impressed with their capacity for scheduling patients, and after my experience, I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Apala's work. I will be back to have my future work done there. 3 weeks later, the permanent crown fitted perfectly. Without dental insurance their Hoala Plan discount really helps; well worth the price. Mahalo Lihue HFD and Dr. Apala!
