Dr. Camden Tokunaga is a second-generation dentist known for his comfort-conscious approach. He strives to make each visit as pleasant as possible, helping patients overcome the fear and anxiety of seeing the dentist. Dr. Tokunaga enjoys talking story and getting to know his patients, Its so nice meeting patients that say they saw my parents when they were kids, and not only are they still with us, they even bring their kids to see us as well.
Dr. Ashley Takiguchi loves seeing her patients grow from adorable, laughing little kids to dream-filled teens with healthy smiles. My goal is to create a positive and fun experience at a young age so that our patients enjoy seeing us, and consequentially, reduce their dental anxiety, she said.

Friendly and helpful staff. Caring and personable healthcare professionals. These are my go to dental people as long as I am on Maui and I've been here for 42 yrs and dont plan to leave!

This place is a hot mess. They delayed my son's tooth extraction to the point where I had to find a different practice for an emergency appointment. The new practice was shocked that Hawaii Family Dental didn't even prescribe him antibiotics for his tooth infection. Add to that - while I was getting my wisdom teeth removed, their oral surgeon took the opportunity of having a captive listener to tell me all about how mass shootings occur as a result of women being allowed to work. He said that when that happened, there was nobody left to take care of the kids... And be prepared to wait around forever while the dentist bounces around from patient to patient. Hawaii Family Dental greedily takes on too many patients, and is therefore unable to care for any of them the way patients deserve to be treated.

Had a cracked tooth, needed a crown. I chose Dr Mellow as my dentist. I was soooo nervous. Dr. Mello, as she's working on me, started singing with the background music. Her singing put me completely at ease...my thought was: "If she's singing, that means that she knows what she's doing and she is not nervous or worried at all". I was able to relax IMMEDIATELY! All the stuff is wonderful! Besides, I can eat again on that side!! Months later, had a tooth taking out by Dr. Mello. Before I could say "ouch", the tooth was out like magic!! Impressive! She's true to her trade. Thanks Dr. Mello and staff!! the best! Bobby offered to hold my hand when I said I was scared!

I have always been happy with the service here until my last visit. I went in to have a crown replaced and the assistant never explained what they were doing. They installed a temporary crown and never checked the bite. The crown broke off 3 days later, even though, I was not chewing on it. I went back and complained to the Dentist about this and the fact that he never checked the bite either but I was just met with a blank stare. No apology or explanation whatsoever. This was very disappointing considering I have always had good service up until the point.

Excellent dental clinic on Maui. Dental technician's were great for my teeth cleaning. Dr Thomas works on your teeth as if they were his own and keeps you "Comfortably Numb". He is working with my schedule to get my partial's completed on time. Easy to work with! Office staff is exceptional as well.

I recently moved to Maui and needed to see a dentist. I called HFD and was able to make an appointment within a short period of time. I found the office staff professional, yet friendly. I was extremely pleased with the care and service I received during my exam and services provided.

The staff at this Dental Center is very professional and friendly -always with much Aloha. From the hygienist (Christy) to the Doctor (Dr. Thomas), they all are so careful and precise in their work making crowns, dealing with cavities or cleanings. I highly recommend this business for all your dental needs.

I have never posted a review before but because I am so happy that I chose the Hawaii Family Dental Clinic in Kihei, I've decided to do so. Dr. Thomas and his team of dental assistants Darlene, Jenni and receptionist Annabelle are so professional and exceptionally courteous. Dr. Thomas makes you feel so comfortable and explains every step of the procedure he is doing. I would highly recommend Dr. Thomas, you will be glad you chose him and the Hawaii Family Dental Clinic!...Aloha

Dr. Thomas is so sweet and he's a very good dentist. I have a small mouth and he was so patient replacing an old crown that had a piece break off. I always look forward to getting my teeth cleaned by Christy too. She is thorough and gives great pointers on brushing. She also listens to you if you have a comment or question. I always appreciate that! The only problem I've had there is issues with the front office staff around insurance which was totally ridiculous.

The cleaning went well, but the dentist, although on site, could not make the time to check my x-rays and teeth, so I had to schedule an appointment two weeks later to finish.

First, I needed to change my appointment because it conflicted with a doctor's appoint. Hawaii Family Dental-Kihei didn't have another appointment until next month. I asked to be put on a wait list and to my relief, they were able to schedule me earlier. Second, Dr. Edgar was his super best that morning as was his assistant. It's been just over two days and there has been no discomfort. Still, I just can't go on eating ice cream twice a day. It's too delicious for my health.
