Dr. Camden Tokunaga is a second-generation dentist known for his comfort-conscious approach. He strives to make each visit as pleasant as possible, helping patients overcome the fear and anxiety of seeing the dentist. Dr. Tokunaga enjoys talking story and getting to know his patients, Its so nice meeting patients that say they saw my parents when they were kids, and not only are they still with us, they even bring their kids to see us as well.
Dr. Ashley Takiguchi loves seeing her patients grow from adorable, laughing little kids to dream-filled teens with healthy smiles. My goal is to create a positive and fun experience at a young age so that our patients enjoy seeing us, and consequentially, reduce their dental anxiety, she said.

I enjoyed meeting Mariam the new hygienist. She did a great job cleaning my teeth and I want her for the next cleaning appt.

I had an emergency in dec with a cracked tooth, my regular Dentist said he could not see me for over a week, I called Family Dental and they brought me in that day. I like the fact that when you have an appointment time with Fam Dental, they bring you in on time with very little waiting. I have since switched to Fam Dental for my Dental needs. thank you

Just in for cleaning this time. The tech was prompt, polite, and concerned for my comfort. He was also very proficient. I highly recommend this establishment.

After having shared my severe dental anxiety in advance, I was on time for my appointment but was made to wait 20 minutes before I was called back, then over 40 minutes in the chair before anyone came to see me. As if I wasn't clearly itching to get out of there, Dr. Eng thought it would be a good idea to take the time to explain how important it was to wear a retainer after having had braces... 40 years ago. Then when I came back to see the periodontist, while delivering the diagnosis that he wanted to pull teeth and do surgery on my gums... I was asking about the details and was obviously upset. When I expressed that I was apprehensive about what I would look like after, he said, 'Would you rather have longer teeth or teeth no longer?' Both he and his assistant laughed, like this wasn't devastating news for me. Interestingly enough, when I called to schedule a second opinion elsewhere, I was told they'd just had another call from someone who wanted a second opinion after having seen Dr. Meredith. All that said, they hygienist was great... gentle, kind, etc. Too bad I won't get to see him again, as I won't be back.

Such a pleasant office and staff at this location. Dr. Ching is very thorough with his work and answered all questions I had. The office staff is so welcoming. I'm glad I found this location.

It seems like each service is ala carte ... beware of specialist for root canals - he only comes in after the filled, sealed and capped that tooth with white porcelain cap... then they will recommend pulling it, and putting in an implant- all in a 21 day period. Money hogs, we switched to a family dentist near Saito. Good choice and "he" is a specialist.

From day one of Family Dental's grand opening in Ewa, all members of my family have gone - for 5+ years they were our designated dentist office. We had no problems or complaints at all, especially when Dr. Schuler was there. But the last 12+ months have been completely ridiculous, we've struggled to book any kind of appointments unless it was 3-4 months out. My son has braces that need to be taken care of and checked on by a professional, he's been in pain for about two weeks, but we couldn't book anything for his entire summer break no matter how much notice we gave or how flexible we were willing to be. This is ridiculous, after many tries, we finally secured an appointment for 8/23 for orthodontist doctor Shin - who only shows up Tuesdays in Ewa office (plus he works only until mid afternoon, so cannot visit after school hours). After a 20min phone battle, explaining how much pain my son has been in, they finally agreed to push my son's appointment to 8/2. When we showed up, we explained to doctor Shin how hard it was to get an appointment booked with him even though my son has been in pain. You know what this guy said? He blamed me for not bringing my son in earlier as if he didn't listen to anything we said? I couldn't believe it. The way doctor Shin handled customer's concern like this wasn't just right, not professional way. He attacked me. Why????? I think this office is falling apart and probably not good place to bring my family, or any families, anymore. This is not how you take care of our keiki or people in general who trust in your services to help us when we need it. Never going back.

Coco Kramer aka E. Kramer My experience at Hawaii Family Dental Clinic, Ewa Beach, has been very good. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. I had cleaning done on 6/30/22, and the Hygienist (sorry did not get her name) was very personable, and I felt at ease with her right away. She did a wonderful job!! All Dr. Eng's associates/assistants too!!!

Warning! Do not use these scam artists. They will not complete the things you set up an appointment for, they will charge you more for what they are supposed to do, and they will send you to a specialist to charge you hundreds of dollars for something they can simply do in their office during an office visit. And plan to pay more than they charge you on your visit.

love the friendly, clean, and welcoming environment. the dentists and their assistants are attentive and kind. the front desk is well organized and the workers are all very sweet. completely took away all my fears of going to the dentist and now i actually enjoy going to my appointments. huge thank you to maddy for being so gentle during all my cleanings. would 100% recommend this place to anyone!

Hawaii Family Dental is a great place to have any dental work done. Very considerate and professional Dentist. Made me feel very comfortable, asked lots of questions and was able to get treatment in a very timely manner. Would definitely return. I would say, the Best Dentist!

Excellent Dental Office, from the dentists, orthodontist, hygienist and staff they are great! I've been going to the Ewa Beach office for the past 6 years since we arrived to the island. My boys and I have had our cleanings, braces and implants done here. No complaints at all, would highly recommend!

This was only my second visit at Hawaii Family Dental, but instantly I felt comfortable and at home. I'm used to Army dental care, so Hawaii Family Dental far exceeded my expectations!
