Dr. Hartsock has been creating beautiful smiles since 1992. He attended Pikeville College for his undergraduate studies, earned his doctorate from the University of Kentucky, and he went on to complete his orthodontic residency at the Mayo Clinic, a highly selective program that only selects one member each year.

Dr. Hartsock has always had a great reputation among his colleagues and in our community for his excellent work with traditional braces and clear ceramic braces. In 2001 Dr. Hartsock became a certified user of Invisalign 's revolutionary clear aligners. Since then, he has created thousands of beautiful smiles with both traditional braces and the new 'invisible braces'. In 2016 Dr. Hartsock was named one of the Top 10 Invisalign Teen providers in the country. In 2018 he was invited to be a keynote lecturer at Invisalign 's North American Summit and to lead a global webinar for doctors in the company 's 'Ask The Expert' series. Invisalign has featured his orthodontic work with their aligners in various promotions and publications. Today Dr. Hartsock and Dr. Sword have been recognized as Diamond Plus Invisalign providers, which is exclusive to the Top 1 percent of Invisalign doctors globally. Hartsock and Sword Orthodontics is the largest Invisalign provider in east Kentucky and has been selected by Align Technology to be a part of several pilot study programs that will help advance new orthodontic products and features for the future. Dr. Hartsock has also been awarded the title of Invisalign Faculty Member, making him one of a select group of orthodontic specialists in North America who have strategically partnered with Invisalign to promote education of dental professionals around the world and to advance the mission of orthodontic excellence.

Dr. Hartsock is a member of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Kentucky Dental Association, Kentucky Association of Orthodontists, and the Kentucky Mountain Dental Society.

Dr. Sword was born and raised in Pikeville and graduated from Pikeville High School. He attended Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. After his time in Lexington, Dr. Sword was one of four residents selected to attend the University of Tennessee's three-year specialty training program in Memphis where he eventually served as chief resident of the orthodontics department. Dr. Sword and his wife, Kaitlin, have two beautiful daughters, Ellie and Sydney.

'I remember going to see Dr. Hartsock for the first time as a patient when I was in elementary school. He straightened my whole family 's teeth, and it was an amazing experience. Orthodontics has been my dream job since I worked for Dr. Hartsock during my college years. Through orthodontics I can show my community how much I care by developing lasting relationships with my patients and leading those individuals to a smile that they love. Getting the opportunity to be an orthodontist alongside my former orthodontist in the town that I have always called home is extremely exciting.

Tammy has been a part of our team since 2016. Overall she has 22 years of dental clinical experience, and she is a very talented in the clinic. She and her husband, Frank, are proud parents to Chelsea, Devin, Macy, and Dawson and they are proud grandparents as well. She enjoys hanging out with family and friends and helping volunteer at all of her kids extracurricular activities.

Barbara has 16 years of experience in our office and has helped thousands of people during her time here. She is an incredibly hard worker and very friendly. Sheis another one of the smiling faces that will help you during your orthodontic treatment. Barb loves spending time with her family, especially her husband, Curtis, her 4 daughters, and all of hergrandchildren. Her time at home involves plenty of farm work, including tending to her animals and her landscaping.

Madison recently joined our office and has been an amazing addition to our team. She loves getting to help people through orthodontics, and she is very kind and compassionate. Madison has two dogs, and she loves spending time with friends and staying active.
