With Dental Implants, biting forces increase dramatically, for better chewing ability and digestion. Implants also prevent the bone loss that occurs after a tooth is removed. Dental implants have been widely used for over 30 years, and have an excellent success rate.

An effective way to restore lost teeth, Dental Implants can provide a durable, permanent option for oral reconstruction. In this process, titanium frames are surgically placed in your jaw bone. Once the frames are inserted in position, dental implants are firmly attached, preventing the shifting or slipping you might encounter with typical dentures. You are left with a natural-looking, sturdy new smile!

If you have missing teeth and want to discuss dental implant options, please contact Harrisburg Dental at(704) 879-3620and let us help you regain your smile, not just for cosmetic reasons, but for the sake of your health as well.

Dont let this fool you. Just because you dont feel any pain in your mouth, that doesnt mean there are no issues that need to be addressed. If a tooth becomes infected, it may initially present some pain butspontaneously resolve when the nerve of the tooth dies. This does not mean that the infection is gone.Quite the contrary; it just allows the infection tospreadif the issue is not addressed and potentially cause bigger problems. A toothache is always a good reason for a checkup, even if the pain goes away.

This may be true in some situations, but most certainly NOT all the time. Teeth darken and become more yellow naturally as we age. Certain food items such as coffee and tea and even some medications, will stain your teeth. But this is not an indication of tooth health. The truth is that tooth color is not a sign of tooth health, but rather a consequence of diet, aging, ability to remove stain, and other biochemical interactions . But if you wish your teeth were brighter, we can help with that!

Many people are afraid of receiving root canal therapy because theyve heard that the procedure is painful. Many years ago this may have indeed been the case, however, with todays anesthetics, root canal procedures are no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. Root canals are a great tool help patients retain their teeth and should not be refused due to a fear of pain. Your dentist will ensure that you are comfortable for any and every procedure.

At times when people see bleeding gums from brushing or flossing, they choose to avoid that area in hopes it will resolve. The truth is thatbleeding from the gums comes from inflammation of the tissue caused the the presence of bacteria. It is your bodys natural immune response to an infection. This is the first sign of active gum disease. The only way to decrease the inflammation is to get rid of this bacteria by brushing and flossing the area thoroughly or a visit with a hygienist who can professionally clean your teeth. After the plaque is removed, proper brushing and flossing habits at home are essential to prevent future inflammation and bleeding.

Just because baby teeth eventually fall out, doesnt mean they shouldnt be cleaned and examined.Dental caries (aka cavities) is the most prominent infectious disease of childhood! Not only can this be painful to a child who may or may not be able to verbalize their pain, but it may also lead to more serious infections and can even damage the un-erupted permanent teeth below the baby teeth! Not all dentists treat children, so ask your dental provider if they can see your child. If they do not, they can refer you to a pediatric dentist who specializes in the dental care of children. Not only can dentists who work with children treat cavities, but they can also offer education on the prevention of cavities and help fearful children develop a positive relationship with the dental team for future visits!

Perhaps the most important myth to debunk is this one; people forget that the mouth is attached to the rest of the body. Problems that have origins in oral health quickly affect the rest of the body as well.Research now shows us that poor oral health may lead to strokes and heart disease! There is even ongoing research about a correlation between periodontal disease in pregnant women and giving birth to low birth weight babies.

Alternatively, good oral health has positive impacts on the body. For Type II diabetics, treatment of periodontal disease has shown an improvement of glycemic control. Who knew the mouth could have such a huge impact on the body?Your dentist, thats who!

Hopefully we were able to debunk some myths you have heard and enlighten you with facts! Its always important to take care of yourself and your teeth. Be sure to always ask your dentist any questions or concerns you may have, no matter how small you may think it is.

I've been going to Harrisburg Dental for several years. My most recent experiences with Dr. Osborne have consistently exceeded my expectations. This is a dentist who unwaveringly cares about his patients. Meka does my dental cleanings and she is very kind and caring. It is a modest office with great care, and I definitely recommend them.

Great techs and the doctor isn't one of those that just goes down the line and tells every single patient they need a $500 bite guard.

I needed a new dentist, which led me to choosing to try Harrisburg Dental. The office staff is sweet, and funny. Most all of them are walking around singing with the radio, and then listen attentively while talking with you. Dr. O was great, too. He genuinely shows care towards listening to your dental issues and getting to know his patients on a personal level. But what I liked most was that he was so willing to explain in detail what he found, how it could of occured, and the different treatment options to get to where you would like with your teeth. I recommend this place to everybody.

The staff is very professional, caring, and friendly. Dr. Osborne really cares about his patients and has even called me the evening of a procedure to ensure I was doing ok. I care very much about my dental health and after moving, I searched a few years for a dentist that was good and cared about my Dental health as well. I highly recommend Harrisburg Dental.

Front desk staff and Dr.Osborn are nice but I have an issue with the way I was treated by Shanna. She was very rough during my cleaning and it felt like she was rushing even though I came to my appointment early. Scraping my teeth with so much pressure that my jaw is sore and I'm having to take ibuprofen. I also noticed I did have a lot of bleeding during the cleaning, more than normal. She dabbed the blood off my gums with gauze. I've never had a hygienist do that before. She also flossed my teeth very roughly. Needless to say I won't be back. Very disappointed in the service I received.
