Harold C. Jennings, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), is licensed in General Dentistry. A proud Greenville native, Dr. Jennings attended Greenville High School and earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) from Clemson University. He finished second in his dental class at the Medical University of South Carolina and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. Dr. Jennings has practiced general dentistry in Greenville since his graduation.

Dr. Jennings enjoys many hobbies, including woodworking, restoring old farm equipment, renovating historic houses, hunting, and wildlife management. He was formerly an avid runner and cyclist, serving as President of Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club and helping make cycling popular in Greenville. He is currently a member of the Greenville Woodworkers Guild. His father and grandfather both served as Greenville's Chief of Police. He is the proud father of one daughter, Caroline.

Same-day crownsare our specialty. A crown is a dental restoration that caps a tooth or dental implant. Broken teeth are one of the most common problems we treat. Breaks usually cause pain or discomfort and typically result from accidents, improper chewing, or normal wear and tear. Sometimes, the break is not visible but if you feel pain, especially when chewing in a specific spot, there is most likely a hidden fracture. Hidden fractures often occur underneath large, old fillings. If left untreated, fractures can lead to the need of a root canal therapy or even tooth loss. To prevent such catastrophes, we use our Cerec machine to repair broken teeth with a strong, aesthetic, all-ceramic solution that will last for years.

Children's front teeth are prone to accidental fractures, often due to the games they play. It is always a terrifying experience when your child breaks permanent front teeth. Do not despair, because this can usually be repaired quickly in one visit using commonplace bonding techniques.

Dental bonding refers simply to the adhering of tooth-colored restorations to your teeth. They are usually used to repair cavities, enhance aesthetics, or mend tooth fractures. Dr. Jennings's artistry and perfectionism makes dental bonding one of his specialties and favorite procedures to do. Selecting the proper color, shaping the restoration to look natural, and being meticulous about placement are all crucial to getting you the result you desire.

A filling is a restoration used to repair a cavity, which is a tooth demineralization caused by the accumulation of acid-producing bacteria. Our team uses state of the art tooth-colored materials to restore the tooth back to its natural color, shape, and function. We will never fill a cavity with any silver amalgam that contains mercury, as was commonly used in the past. If your teeth have been badly damaged by decay, you may require a more complex restoration, like a custom-made ceramic crown.

Silver fillings, which were once commonplace in the dental field, tend to corrode and deteriorate with age (and look bad in pictures!). Removing these fillings and replacing them with high quality, tooth-colored materials is one of our areas of expertise. Some silver fillings can be replaced with simple bonded composite fillings, whereas larger ones may require the use of high-tech ceramic restorations, crafted with our Cerec machine.

A porcelain veneer is a custom-made ceramic facing that glues to the front of your tooth, usually to improve the shape or color. Veneers require a simple preparation to the tooth and careful planning and implementation. They are a great option for people born with discolored or misshapen teeth, but they should not be used to conceal cavities or tooth damage.

Sometimes, teeth cannot be repaired and it is necessary to remove them. Dr. Jennings has many years of experience removing teeth and can usually accomplish this very painlessly. Complex cases that require general sedation, such as impacted wisdom teeth, are usually referred to a network of oral surgeons with whom or team has a great working relationship.

Dental implants have become the state of the art technique to replace missing teeth or teeth that have been extracted. Dr. Jennings works with a surgical specialist to give patients the highest quality, most aesthetic implants possible. After the doctors determine where the implant should be placed, the surgeon will embed an artificial root into the bone. Then, Dr. Jennings will build a ceramic tooth and attach it to the root to complete the case.

Dental bridges literally 'bridge the gap' created by missing teeth. A bridge is a unit composed of one or more artificial teeth permanently cemented to adjacent teeth or dental implants. Dental implants have made the use of bridges less frequent oftentimes, implants are now a better way to replace missing teeth. However, in some cases, a bridge is still the treatment of choice.

Gum disease refers to the progressive breakdown of the foundation of the teeth, gums and bone. It is caused by neglecting to brush or floss properly, which allows harmful bacteria to accumulate around and in between your teeth. In its early stages, the disease causes gum bleeding if your gums bleed when you brush or floss, you have gum disease and should seek professional advice. If left untreated, however, it can eventually lead to tooth loss. Treatment varies greatly depending on the extent of the disease. In moderate or advanced causes, we often work with a periodontist to make sure your teeth will last forever.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures: partial and complete. Partial dentures are used when only some teeth are missing, whereas complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing. Dentures can be made from various materials, each with a different price point and set of pros and cons. We consider dentures to be a last resort, necessary only when no better dental treatments are feasible. Before giving you dentures, we will do everything we can to save your teeth.
