Originally from St. Simons Island, Georgia, Dr. Heather Sholander grew up with parents who were both geneticists and doctors, fostering her early interest in science, research, and in helping others. She attended University of Georgia, focusing on microbiology and anthropology before completing her dental degree at the Medical College of Georgia. She practiced dentistry alongside her father for a few years until she married the love of her life, who convinced her to pursue her dreams of pediatric dentistry. She returned to school to complete a residency in Pediatric Dentistry and a Masters in Oral Biology. It was then that the couple moved to the greater D.C. area, and she met Dr. Goodman. The rest, as they say, is history.When shes not in the office, shes off exploring all sorts of places with her family, whether its a museum, a hike, a new hobby, or even a new country. She also loves reading and running to keep her mind and body healthy.

They truly care for children. I very much appreciate the time and advise I received from Dr. Goodman. Thank you for all the information to better help my daughter. Also her team was patient with my little one. They kept her busy and happy during the appointment. Is a great place for little ones!

Dr. Sholander is a BRILLIANT dentist. To begin with- the practice is very well run; the team is so sweet and well-trained. The office is beautiful and clean. My kids love it there. But outside of that, Dr. Sholander identified an issue with my son that his pediatrician, a consultant, or teachers were unable to pinpoint. I knew something was off but no one could give me clear answers. Within a few minutes of meeting my son, she saw what I was concerned about. She took the time to give me excellent referrals and come up with a plan for next steps. I am amazed at how good she is. But again, the practice overall is welcoming, fun, clean, and the environment is so happy and warm. Highly recommended!

Dr. Sholander is excellent with kids. She is clearly a brilliant dentist who is gentle and positive with children making going to the dentist fun. If she saw grownups, my husband and I would go to her too. She has steadied us through two freak accidents and kept everyone calm. We are very grateful we were connected with this practice. It is bright and immaculate and well designed for kids. Cool decorations, TV on the ceiling. My kids have enjoyed getting prizes. Thank you!

Reunited and it feels so good!! Our favorite Dentist and our favorite Orthodontist teamed up to open the most amazing office ever! Dr. Sholander & Dr. Goodman's approach is holistic - every facet works together between preventative care, diet, growth, overall health. They explain things so well to both the parents and the kids. I feel very fortunate to know that we are in good hands with Harmony.

Doctor Goodman and Doctor Sholander are both fabulous! They work very hard to make the children comfortable, even if they are nervous about being at the dentist or orthodontist. They are both super warm and absolutely excellent at what they do. They are both very committed to working with the parents which makes such a difference, and their staff are all so friendly as well. We couldn't be happier and highly, highly recommend Harmony!!

Took my 13 month old to his first dentist visit. The office staff is very professional and friendly. Most importantly Dr. Sholander and her staff were very empathetic and all of our questions and concerns were taken care of. I highly recommend it!

If you want a skilled , empathic and welcoming group of professionals look no further. From the front office to the clinicians everyone treats you with a lot of love and care throughout your visit. My 3 kids always look forward to their dental visits at Harmony Dental whether as a patient or accompanying their sibling. Dr.Scholander and Dr.Goodman are simply the best!

Dr. Goodman cares for 3 of my children and she is the kindest and nicest Ortho. We've also had the pleasure to meet Dr. Sholander and she is very nice. Every visit is a pleasant experience. The office is bright and everyone is extremely nice and attentive. The Pac Man / Galaga machine in the waiting area is a nice bonus. We also enjoy the riddle of the day. We would highly recommend this practice to everyone.
