Dr. Leslie Hargis chose the dental field as it is the perfect balance of serving others, art, and science. Dr. Gerald Hargis is not only her father, but business partner and mentor. Dr. Gerald Hargis has been practicing dentistry in downtown Burlington since 1979. Leslie is thrilled to carry on the family practice and share this professional experience working alongside him. She greatly values the family tradition of treating and serving the community for another 30 years!
Dr. Hargis is a native of Burlington, NC. In 2010, she graduated from UNCs Dental Hygiene program. She continued her studies at the UNC School of Dentistry, graduating in 2017 with her Doctorate in Dental Science. This past year, she completed a Geriatric Fellowship, which was a collaborative research project between the UNC schools of medicine and dentistry based around delivering advanced care planning and advanced directives to patients and families. Dr. Hargis is especially passionate about treating the geriatric population as there is great treatment need in this area.
When she isnt working, Dr. Hargis enjoys traveling with her high school sweetheart and husband of 6 years, Ryan. They have two pets together, a Shih-Tzu Rylie, and Tabby Cat, Winifred. She spends some of her free time volunteering at various opportunities within the community through The Lambs Chapel. Dr. Hargis-Fuller is very passionate in her faith, nature, and her love for animals. She gives all glory and thanks to God and looks forward to the journey ahead at Hargis Family Dentistry!
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Valerie Acquesta to our practice family at Hargis Family Dentistry. Dr. Acquesta is a proud native of our beautiful state of North Carolina. She chose to pursue dentistry because of its ability to impact a patients health and self-confidence all in a single visit.
She graduated from James Madison University with a bachelors degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders; she then spent two years teaching young adults with autism. After this, she returned to school to pursue a career in dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry, graduating with her Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
During her studies at UNC, Dr. Acquesta developed a passion for general dentistry and the ability to foster long-lasting relationships with her patients. She is excited to grow and become part of the family at Hargis Family Dentistry! When Dr. Acquesta is not practicing dentistry, she loves traveling, nurturing her plant family and spending time with her real family.
