Dr. Hargis is a 1990 graduate of Louisiana College, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He attended the Louisiana State University Medical Center School of Dentistry to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then completed a 2-year residency in hospital dentistry at Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital (Big Charity) in New Orleans. In 1997, Dr. Hargis moved back to Central Louisiana to begin practicing; he grew up in Grant Parish and decided he would return here to practice one day. He took over a clinic in Montgomery, Louisiana, where he served this rural community for 11 years. In 1999, he also opened a private practice in Prospect. Since 1997 Dr. Hargis has been the only dentist to serve Grant Parish continually.
Susan has worked as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 1991. She attended Northeast Louisiana University (ULM) for her Dental Hygiene degree. Susan worked her way north from Abbeville to Prospect over the next 28 years of tooth fairy service. We love her and hear lots of compliments from her patients since becoming part of HFD in 2019.
Teresa joined us in 2001 as a chairside dental assistant. She earned her Expanded Duty Dental Assistant certification in 2002 and assisted Dr. Hargis until 2008. In 2010, after a two-year hiatus to work closer to home, Teresa re-joined HFD in our front office. She is a wealth of information on all things related to insurance, scheduling & treatment planning, and also fills in in the back when needed. She will be a grandmama in 2021.
Katie has been in the dental field since 2003. She became Expanded Duty Dental Assistant certified in 2011 and joined us later that same year. Besides being the cutest thing ever, she is dependable, friendly and a great chairside assistant. Katie lives in Grant Parish with her husband and dog children. Were so pleased to have her in Prospect with us.
Gina moved into dentistry in 2016. She worked in a physician's office for years, and before this worked in the ER. You'll speak with her on the phone, at the check-out desk, and when she is presenting a treatment plan. She was one of those lucky few who find and marry their soulmate, though he has recently become her guardian angel. We all miss him. Gina is the pickiest grown-up eater we've ever met.
Anna is the baby of the bunch, even though she has three babies of her own! She joined us in 2021 as a dental assistant. She has the most perfect teeth. Her husband and little ones live close to HFD--we think that means it was meant to be. Anna was trained as a dental assistant in 2017. She is so very nice, works hard, and is a wonderful addition to our family.
Kathy is the proud MaeMae of twin girls...and an EDDA-certified dental assistant, as well as a dental lab technician. She has almost two decades of experience and will put you right at ease chairside. That is, if you're lucky enough to catch her; she now works only fill-in thanks to those grandbabies!
LaDonna is our Office Manager. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology at Louisiana College in 1993, where she and Dr. Hargis met. She earned Master's in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 1998. She joined Dr. Hargis in 1999 to coordinate the building of the Prospect office. The Hargises have three sons, Jackson, and twins Graham & Bennett.

I love the friendly service from the techs especially Mrs Susan, and I appreciate the admin staff especially Mrs Teresa with always staying on top of the appointments, records, etc. Special thanks to Dr Hargis for also being attentive and he's lucky to have such an awesome team. They are also veteran friendly!!!

10 out of 10 great dental experience! I have been going there since I was 12, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else I love my dental family, you may only see them every six months but they remember what you talked about and they ask you questions about your day and your work and your life!

Best Dental experience I have ever had. Me and my son was afraid of going to the Dentist. Dr. Hargis is warm and caring and made us feel comfortable. His concerns of our pain level and comfort and his detail explanations of procedures pre and post, has renewed our faith in seeing a Dentist and we are not afraid anymore. The staff every last one of them are so amazing, professional, truly caring, and wonderfully witty, and very friendly. They all made us feel more like family and not just a customer. I will never stop going to this practice for any reason and I would highly recommend everyone to go here.

This dental office is the absolute best! Dr Hargis and his staff are top notch. From the moment you walk in, you are treated like family. Dr Hargis makes sure that you are comfortable during any and all procedures and sets your mind at ease. Susan is an amazing hygienist! She goes the extra mile to keep you comfortable and my teeth always look and feel great. Katie is so personable and always smiling. Wonderful dental office from start to finish. The entire staff is awesome! 10 stars!!

My Relative Robert Dupas referred me to Dr.Hargis Dental,they were nice,i love how comfortable Dr.Hargis made me feel.I'm actually Terrified of a Dentist,that's why my teeth are in bad shape.I went to 3 appointments,i never recieved an extraction,i never had my teeth fixed.I can't get an appointment now because i cancelled due to death in my family,and i almost diesd from the abscess i had that was never taken care of.My appointment for my extractions etc were scheduled a month later,and i needed emergency care.My grandmother passed 5 days before my birthday,so i couldn't make my month later appointment,i had an abscess the doctor prescribed me antibiotics,but like i said i needed help right away!I never complained for making 3 blank trips to Dr.Hargis.I just got out of hospital now

I went to Dr Hargis to get a crown in a jaw tooth. The procedure was relatively painless and all staff were friendly and professional. Very pleased.
