Being able to helppeople achieve healthy, confident smiles is why I got into the profession of orthodontics. Whether it entails treating a simple malocclusion or working with an interdisciplinary team to address a cleft palate, achieving apositiveeffect onpeoples lives makes me smile. Being able to interact with many different peoplefrom different walks of lifemakes my job a lot of fun! It is an honor to come back to Maine and serve the families and communities that I grew up in.

My commitment to learning did not end when I finished my residency.Im constantly expanding my skills andknowledge, and taking continuing education courses in order to provide the best care to my patients. Staying current with the latest advances in technology and orthodontic techniques enables me to provide the highest quality and most advanced orthodontic care.

I am currently enrolled in the Invisalign master course and participate in weekly Invisalignwebinars. I also attend local, regional, and national orthodontic and dental meetings, and takecourses from the leading researchers and practitioners in the field.

I grew up in Veazie and currentlysplit my time between there and Portland. My wifeMeaganis finishing her residency in pediatric medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland. We dont have childrenyet, but look forward to having them in the future. For now, we have a loving cat, Zoey.

When Imnot at the office, I enjoy time on a golf course, snowboarding at Sugarloaf, or surfing at Higgins Beach. Im also a die-hard Boston sports fan, but Tom Brady and the New England Patriots areprobably my favorite team to watch, with the Boston Bruins a close second. Being an orthodontist is more than just a career;it enables me to playa small role inmy patients lives. Im able to build lasting friendships while maintaining a healthy balance of family and community. What I do gives people confidence, increases their self-esteem, and improves their health.

Living and working in a small community means I get to seemy patients in the office and around the area, at sporting and community events, school functions, and on the street. I am glad to be part of their lives, to sharein their accomplishments and keepup with each persons achievements in school, work, and personal lives.

Im a firm believer thathealthcare practitioners oweit to themselves as well as their patients to stay current on changes in their field. I am always learning, through continuing education, in order to practice the latest and most efficient, effective, and comfortable techniques. Continuing education enables me to grow and provide the best possible care.

"Braces are just Braces". quote from Dr. Hardy. Braces are put on people. Kindness, patience and education all could have rectified this situation. But I was argued with and treated very condescendingly.

If% I could give this office zero stars, I would. I have a son who receives Mainecare solely because he is permanently disabled, but we also have United Concordia (through the military) as well as private dental insurance that I purchased knowing my son would need orthodontic interventions. I recieved an abandon and deny letter from Mainecare stating they did not receive the information required from this office. The letter CLEARLY STATED IT WAS AN "ABANDON AND DENY" and under the heading "REASON FOR DENIAL" it says " The information requested to determine medical necessity was not received." Naturally, I contacted Mainecare to confirm this was the case. THE CONFIRMED THAT IS WAS IN FACT AN "ABANDON AND DENY" letter (Google it if you need further clarification on what that means :) ) and that THE OFFICE DID NOT SEND THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THEY HAD REQUESTED IN THE FIRST DECISION LETTER THEY SENT that clearly stayed they needed additional information for their decision. They also informed me that since the claim WAS NOT completed, that we are free to submit a new claim with them or another Orthodontics office since a decision had not been made off of his medical records. Naturally, I proceeded to contact Hardy Orthodontics. The woman I spoke with was very defensive saying they did send it out and that they refuse to do another referral because it would cost them too much money, etc. I then asked if I could get it in writing that they will not resubmit the claim so I could go elsewhere to a place willing to do so. The same day I received a call from the office manager who was completely disrespectful, basically telling me that it wasn't their problem that Mainecare didn't receive the information, that his scores would not have qualified anyway, and just a lot of nasty attitude. I let her know that I have the means to pay and do not solely rely on Mainecare. I also reminded her that insurance decisions are made by insurance companies and not office managers then tried to inform her that regardless of whether Mainecare approves the claim or not, the referral has to be completed so my other insurance will pick it up, but she did not want to hear what I had to say and kept talking over me and being incredibly condescending and defensive about the fact they claim to have sent out all required information even after I said multiple times that I am not saying they did not send it, but that Mainecare did not receive it according to their records. I am in social work, so I make it a point to cover my behind when having interactions over the phone, so I had both conversations recorded. I let her know this and she promptly hung up the phone. I would not recommend this place to my least favorite human. The orthodontist was nice the only time I met with him and the building had nice renovations, but the office staff is killing his business.

Dr. Jamie and Dr. Lou have been very fair and pleasant to work with. You can tell they sincerely have the patient's best interest at heart and you don't feel like they are just trying to spend your money. Dr. Lou even met us at the office on a holiday and helped our daughter with a dental emergency. Awesome guys!

My daughter had braces here. I so was impressed by the extraordinary 1:1 care she received from the staff at Dr. Hardy's office. In a lot of offices we'd been we're just another chart to them, here the staff treated her as they became friends and cared about her as a person not just her braces. Thank you guys for a WONDERFUL experience. :D
