Dr. Amars father is a pulmonologist who is highly revered by his patients, nurses, and colleagues in the medical community. As a result, Dr. Amar himself was exposed to the world of patient healthcare from a young age and knew he wanted to get involved as well. However, his father also often needed time away from the family for work and regularly missed events like basketball games. He wanted to find an area of healthcare that allowed him to have close relationships with patients while also preserving enough time to connect with his own family too.
After completing his undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Amar pursued his dental doctorate at Howard University College of Dentistry. He graduated as part of Omicron Kappa Upsilon with the highest honors. He then entered into a pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Today, Dr. Amar is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist, which is the highest honor bestowed by the American Board of Pediatric Dentists and demonstrates a commitment to excellence and continual improvement. Only 38% of pediatric dentists have received this recognition! As for personal hobbies, Dr. Amar enjoys listening to stand-up comedy, participating in multiple sports leagues (including volleyball, tennis, and spikeball), riding his bicycle, hiking, keeping up with health and fitness, playing board games, enjoying live music, and taking part in the Philadelphia nightlife. Heres an interesting tidbit about him: he played jazz drums for 10 years!
When Dr. Shah was in high school, she had no idea what she wanted to study in college or pursue as a career. Fortunately, a friend mentioned that they wanted to become a dentist, and this caused her to start looking into the profession. What really sold her was a story her mom told her. She grew up in a small town in India with five siblings and a single mother. They struggled to make ends meet most of the time, and everyone worked very hard to help support the family. Growing up, Dr. Shahs mom was very self-conscious because her teeth were extremely crowded, and she often hid her smile because of this. One day, she went to the local dentist to inquire about braces, but she was disappointed to hear that she would not be able to afford the cost of the work she needed. Her dentist mentioned a nearby clinic that offered free dental services for low-income families and recommended she visit them. Eventually, she was able to get her braces and now loves her smile! Dr. Shahs mom is one of the most confident people she knows, and Dr. Shah hopes to one day help someone the way her dentist was able to help her mom.
Dr. Shah has a Bachelor in Biological Sciences and Psychology from Rutgers University, and she earned her DMD degree from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. She then completed a two-year pediatric dental residency at St. Christophers Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. During her residency, she not only learned how to care for pediatric patients, but also how to handle dental trauma, special needs patients, and medically complex patients. To date, she has completed over 120 cases using general anesthesia and has been trained to provide oral sedation for young patients as well.
Dr. Shah considers herself to be a creative spirit and deeply enjoys learning new skills. She recently taught herself calligraphy and does henna art in her free time. She is also a huge Eagles fan and catches every game that she can. In the past, she has gone on dental mission trips, including one to the Dominican Republic, where she provided free services for over 100 underprivileged children. Dr. Shah hopes to go on many more similar trips in the future.

My daughter has a severe phobia of the dentist and this was the first appointment that she had where she didn't cry and participated without hesitation. When we left, she said how nice the dentist was! Great experience.

Dr. Singh & Megan were a breath of fresh air. They provided an abundance of information on my daughters lip & tongue tie after completing an oral exam. They were patient, professional and answered every question & concern that we had. They explained the procedure, healing process, and exercises with in-depth detail. The entire visit was great, and I am grateful to have seen a difference within the same day. Pros: Clean office, friendly staff, knowledgeable, professional and supportive dentist, swift procedure (completed within 5 minutes) Cons: Absolutely none.

Dr. Singh was so gentle in treating my baby and explained everything to me from his condition to a treatment plan, to alternatives to future care. His staff was also very professional and friendly. I will be returning and would recommend this Dr. and this practice.

My daughter came in for filling she was super nervous and anxious the dentists were super patient and kind with her and explained every step of the way to ease her nerves she had to come back couple days later to finish the procedure on the other side of her mouth and she was so much more relaxed and happy to go back to them she told me later that she hopes she never goes to any other dentist place because she really liked them and they were nice thank you everyone!

My son had really bad anxiety from a previous dental facility. Not only is Dr. Amar is amazing, his staff is top notch as well! From check in to check out, I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Thank you for creating such a great experience for my family!

We came to Dr. Amar for our baby's tongue/lip frenectomy. Although the procedure was really sad, Dr. Amar was so kind and supportive! He was very knowledgeable about the issues she was having and was very attentive. He even gave us his cell number if we needed anything. All the staff were friendly too and the waiting room is very welcoming for kiddos. We'll definitely be bringing her here when she's older!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Front desk to the nurse were great the Dr was great they explained everything my baby was born with lip tie tounge tie and cheek tie they did the procedure in 5 mins my baby was able to finally breastfeed with no issues she was struggling so bad before we went here and was so gassy. My baby is so happy and able to feed perfectly now. I am so happy I found this place. I will be switching all my kids over to this office !! The Dr even texted me later to check up on her to make sure she was doing well. U don't find places that have that much care for patients these day!
