I showed up at Happy Smiles Dental and did not have an appt. Dr. Spencer told the receptionist that she would take me as a new patient. Every since that day I have been getting great dental care. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Dr. Spencer is especially skillful and caring.

As a person who worked for the Dental industry for six years on and off, this practice is probably the most well run practice I've ever been part of as from the perspective of both patient and staff member. Dr. Spencer, Mercedes, and Ana have been my dental providers for just over a year. Fortunately even through three job changes, I've been able to maintain a relationship with Dr. Spencer because they go above and beyond to ensure I'm taken care of from making my appointment to processing my claim. Please do not listen to the other reviews. I genuinely love coming to the practice because I know I'm going to be greeted with authentic quality care. Yes, procedures take time, but all the ladies educate me on why I need my treatments, from cleanings (regular prophylaxis to deep scaling and root planing treatment. The more time spent in the practice means better quality care, especially in dentistry. Dr. Spencer is so motherly, caring about all her patients and remembers everything I talk about between every three month appointment. Mercedes is sweet and wants to ensure you feel comfortable because Dentistry is scary and intimate. Ana is an aspiring dental hygienist and is a sweetheart. Dr. Spencer understands she's young and still has much to learn, but Ana is well on her way to becoming an amazing dental provider.

You'll be waiting for an hour or more to get a cleaning. You will be pushed to pay for services or materials "not covered by insurance". You will be told you have cavities you do not. You will be sold a night guard for teeth grinding. You will be called by the wrong name, multiple times, even immediately after correcting the staff. Welcome to Happy Smiles Dental Center.

Doctor Spencer and the team did a really great job for aligning my teeth and taking good care of my teeth hygiene as I go through my braces adjustments for few years. I'm very satisfied and really recommend the place!

Worst place I have ever been. They have no idea what they're doing! :(

Terrible service. Made a teeth cleaning appointment about 4 months in advance. Showed up and the dentist told me she didn't have time and I would need a deep clean (a special procedure your insurance does not cover). I spent 2 hours in her office listening to her tell me how I needed this $600 procedure even though she hadn't looked at my teeth yet. At all. I was wearing a mask the whole time. During this 2 hour gaslight she told a walk in with no insurance she could fit him in for an examination and crown in an hour. After I pushed for a teeth cleaning she gave me the worst one I've ever had. Spent no time doing anything but complaining about how I needed a deep clean and how I was wasting her time. Got a second opinion from two other dentist- I do not need a deep clean. The whole thing was a lie. She won't release my x-rays either. She's only in it for the extra cash and will rip you off. Go anywhere else. Don't waste your time

The staff here was very professional and kind towards my many questions. I would most definitely recommend this office to any one new to the area. Once again thank you Dr. Spencer!

Horrible experience. I called just now to ask if this office was in network for my insurance and the person who answered the phone kept asking my I was calling. I repeated myself at least 3-4 times. She insisted on asking if I was in pain or if I was calling for someone else. I reminded her I was only calling to ask if they were in network and it seemed as if she didn't understand what I meant. This is common terminology and it was upsetting that she couldn't answer my question. She told me there are many other patients with my exact same insurance coverage (how would se know this if she didn't know my exact insurance coverage other than the name of the insurance company). I explained that she wasn't answering my question because though they have the same insurance doesn't answer my question if they are in network. So upsetting that my simple question was not answered so I will NOT be going to this office regardless if I find out they ARE in network.

Excellent service! My whole family has been coming here for over a year. I finally decided to give Dr. Spencer a try and I'm so happy I did. She is extremely knowledgeable and gentle with her work. If you experience Dentist phobia like I do, she is very patient and understanding. The office is clean as well. The whole staff is very friendly as well. Defiantly give them a try! :)

My cleaning was a great experience! Everyone worked together as a team...the office had a relaxed and happy atmosphere....both the Dr. and Hygenist were patient with my non-flossing self...

I moved to San Diego from San Francisco a year ago and had to find a new dentist so I did some google searching and found Dr. Spencer's office. I called to make an appt for a routinely cleaning and they took me in that same day. When I arrived I had to fill out paperwork like usual, but then I had to wait about 20 min to go in. When they finally let me in I had to wait some more at the patient's seat. Then a guy came to take x-rays even though I hadn't asked for that. Then I waited for another 20 min for the hygienist to come talk to me to then tell me that the Dr. would come in a second. I waited some more for her to talk about my x-rays and things I needed to get done. When she was done talking to me I had to wait another 20 min for the hygienist to come and clean my teeth. I spent an hour in that office just waiting to get a cleaning. Then the cleaning itself took about 40 min, but I'm fine with that because that's what I wanted to get done. Once the hygienist was done they moved me to a little waiting room to go over the prices of the procedures I needed. It had been almost 2 hours and I needed to leave to pick my daughter from school so I informed the staff that I was in a rush already (it had been 2 hrs since I came in) then they made me wait another 20 min..... until I came out of the office saying I had to go NOW. Then the Dr. came to discuss my upcoming bill and was very pushy as to when I wanted to come in even though I explained to her that I needed to discuss it with my husband first. She then proceeded to break down each procedure separately to make the bill appear cheaper and then say "so when do you want to come in?" Until I had to tell her that I would call them because I needed to leave. So after that she made me wait a little more to get the goodie bag that they give patients because no one had it ready. In total I was there around 2 and half to almost 3 hours just getting a cleaning done. I'm never going here again. I called to ask my x-rays and they made it very difficult for me to receive them. Once they sent them to me through email they send a plain picture of the total of x-rays so I cannot even use that in any other place. The staff seems very incompetent at what they do and it seems that if you're not going to be their patient anymore they will make it really hard to get your file. Don't go there!
