Dr. Matthews has been a Pediatric Dentist in the Northwest Valley since the summer of 2013 and is a born and raised native of Arizona. He attended A.T. Still University in Mesa for dental school and then completed a two year Specialty Residency in Pediatrics with the Lutheran Medical Center in Tucson, where he was extensively trained in oral conscious sedation and in office IV sedation practices. He has years of experience working with children and enjoys finding ways to make their dental experience as easy and fun as possible. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Matthews and his wife Catherine are busy keeping up with their four daughters! When he is not shuttling the girls between dance competitions and softball games, Dr Matthews spends much of his times outdoors and enjoying the great state of Arizona!

AMAZING dentist! My kids actually look forward to going to the dentist now! This office is very special they make us feel like family and my kids loved. Both my 8 year old son and now 5 year old daughter have had to get multiple teeth pulled due to "shark mouth" baby teeth not falling out but adult teeth coming in behind them. Dr. Matthews fixes this problem before this can cause any damage to their teeth or jaw. I'm so thankful we found this dentist and there is no place better to take your kids. I always wish they would also take adult clients! 100 stars to this office and Dr. Matthews!!!! Thank you!

Dr. Matthews and his staff were amazing! My husband is a dentist himself, but having two boys with special needs they were sensitive and fearful and wouldn't let him near their teeth. We knew a visit to a pediatric dentist was inevitable and we are so glad we went. Our first visit to Happy Campers was so fun and put everyone's anxiety at ease. My boys had a great experience and we are all excited to come back in 6 months. Thanks again!

I am a dental assistant for mostly seniors in Sun City West at the Village Dental Center (shameless plug) lol Everyone from the Front office to Doctor everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable, Carrie was our assistant and she was so caring and made the appointment go very smoothly without any feelings of anxiety throughout the entire office, I was extremely pleased and will brag about this office to all of my friends! Oh and also the office is flipping awesome!!

I am so thankful we were referred to Happy Campers by some friends. My daughter had a horrible dental experience at our previous dentist which ended in her having a panic attack and being fearful of going to a dentist again. I assured her that this time would be different and it absolutely was! The entire staff was very kind and took their time to make my daughter feel comfortable, and explained the process to her. She did not shed a single tear even when they had to pull a stubborn little baby tooth! Highly recommend especially for children who have anxiety issues.

Dr.Matthews is amazing and his staff is so sweet. My son had to have a procedure performed and they made sure that not only my son was comfortable, but that I was informed and comfortable as well. As a mother, that means a lot. My kids actually want to go to the dentist at Happy Campers!

Abseloute WORST "dentist" I have ever been to in my entire life!!! I only came to this office because of the "good" reviews I saw. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT make the same mistake that I did! Robert Matthews ruined my son's teeth and I wish to GOD everyday that I never let This inexperienced guy touch my child's teeth. My 4 year old son had his front tooth extracted on 12/29/2020 and Since that day I have been feeling extremely distraught, devastated and unhappy with what happened. I am feeling an extreme amount of regret even going to that appointment and wish I had cancelled it. I let the dentist (Robert Matthews) know about my son's speech issues and how I was concerned that pulling out his front tooth so early could regress his speech. I wish the dentist would have actually listened to my concerns before rushing me to sign all the papers and start the procedure. Since my son's tooth was pulled out, his speech has absolutely regressed as well as his eating. I honestly wish I had never crossed paths with this office and I would not wish this feeling on anyone else. It's abseloutly unbearable. I haven't slept, eaten, bathed or showered since 12/29/2020, all I can think about is WHY I went to this appointment.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Matthews abs his staff. We drove from out of state to make sure we are in the best hands. The office is adorable and so welcome inn. The staff is so incredible and everyone is so nice and friendly. Grateful my kids were in the best care

Don't be fooled by their "friendly smiles" when you first go in, this office only cares about upselling unnecessary treatment plans at the expense of our kids teeth. I don't care about how many "interactive" experiences, cheap toys, or t-shirts this dentist hands out, bottom line, I care about my kids getting only the required dental work they need. Not any extra work that this office needs to fill their financial needs. Despicable practices and for the well being of my children, I will most definitely not be returning.

I like here mainly because I don't have to hold my son! Just like the most toddlers don't like to open their mouth, my child requires tricks and techniques to open mouth. Dentist here did an awesome job handling my child and my child actually liked being in camp themed place here so he was even cooperative at some point. I like the kids friendly decoration, but more importantly, for the friendly and well handling dentist I want to give 5 stars.

Absolutely and incredible experience for my toddlers first dental visit! They were so fast, Efficient and the doc was kind. They gave him a shirt, a prize and the place is so kid oriented, colorful chairs everything was really great! Love it! Highly recommend!
