Our financial coordinator will seek out your insurance information, process claims, and accept benefits directly in-office for most insurance benefits. We offer no-interest in-house financing and will work with you to come up with a payment plan that works with your financial state and comfort level. With our office, youll always know exactly what to expect.

I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan in 1992 and completed a general practice residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1993. I also attended U of M for my specialty education, completing my masters degree in orthodontics in 1996. I started my orthodontic practice in 1996 and begin each day with my personal mission statement to welcome staff and patients into my office with honesty, commitment, and a do what it takes attitude every day.
I believe that continuing to invest in the education of myself and my team has helped us serve our patient families in a very special way. I take over 40 hours of continuing education every year to stay on top of the advances in my profession, including technology and research. I also work as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I love being able to share my knowledge and teach the orthodontists of the future!
I have lived all my life in the surrounding Grand Rapids area and am pleased to raise my family here and to provide beautiful, healthy smiles in the area where I grew up. When I am not creating smiles, I enjoy snow skiing, biking, wakeboarding, and wave surfing. I also love traveling with my wife (Dr. Beth) and our four children: Madison, Daniel, Aiden, and Caroline.
I obtained a degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 2009. After that, I returned to my home state, West Virginia, and earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. From there, I attended residency in South Florida at Nova Southeastern University, where I received my masters and a certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. I practiced in Greenville, SC, for two and a half years before moving to West Michigan to join this dental practice in June 2018!
I married my husband, Brian Harrisa Michigan nativein 2015. We have a daughter (Reva) and a puppy (Fenton). In our spare time, we love to be on the lake and enjoy traveling, biking, hiking, and wake-surfing. We are excited to be back in West Michigan to be closer to friends and family.

Our front desk team (Breanna and Melissa) are here to help make your orthodontic care as convenient as possible. They do a wonderful job of helping our patients with their scheduling needs, questions about insurance or finances, and any other concerns that may arise.
When I am not at work my husband, Butch and I are enjoying our nearly empty nest. We have two adult children, Tyler and Madison and our pup Watson. We enjoy spending time up North and our new found freedom to do some traveling.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am so happy to be here at HPO! I have worked in the medical field for 18 years and love helping people! I live with my husband and 3 girls in the Alto area. We have a little farm there and enjoy being outdoors and camping as a family. I also enjoy baking, going to the beach and spending time with my family.

My name is Karina and I am one very proud Mexican American! I started working at Dr. Hannapels office in 2015. I love my job and what we do every day to create beautiful smiles. It has also been a perk to be able to translate for our Hispanic families in the office. When Im not at work, I love to spend time with my family. We recently purchased our first home in Hastings! My daughter and son keep me on my toes, but I love them to pieces! All that Im after is a life full of laughter!
