Welcome to the orthodontic practice of Dr. J Matthew Hancock. Our practice has been treating children, teens and adults in Leesburg and Loudoun County since 2009. We have served the community for 7 years, building a strong reputation among patients and local dentists. We have recently branched out to Winchester and look forward to building the same community connections.
We have a conservative treatment philosophy and we take pride in giving our patients an honest and straightforward opinion about their orthodontic needs. We prefer to treat our patients in a single phase of treatment when possible, which minimizes the overall treatment time and cost for our patients. We focus on developing lasting relationships and helping our patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles.
Along with providing great care for our patients, we care about our community. Dr. Hancock lives and works in Leesburg. He is active in the community and our practice sponsors local events, sports teams and charities. Were committed to serving our patients and strengthening Northern Virginia communities.
We are excited to offer all Orthodontic services in Winchester, VA. Dr Hancock has a fondness for the Shenandoah Valley and enjoys treating patients where he originally started practicing many years ago.
Dr. Hancock grew up in Fairfield, California. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Conservation Biology, and then attended the University of California at San Francisco for dental school. While in dental school, Dr. Hancock served in several school leadership positions and was an elected member of OKU, the National Dental honor society. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2003, Dr. Hancock spent three years practicing dentistry in Arizona at a practice primarily treating children.
In 2006 he returned to school at the University of Pittsburgh to attend a residency in orthodontics. During his residency, Dr. Hancock focused his research on new orthodontic materials and submitted a portion of his research for a patent. After completing three years of specialty training, Dr. Hancock received his orthodontic certificate in 2009.
Dr. Hancock is a member of American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Virginia and Southern Associations of Orthodontists. He is in the process of becoming a board certified orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontics. He attends orthodontic conferences, seminars and continuing education courses to stay current with the latest knowledge and technology in orthodontics.
Dr. Hancock, his wife Heather, and their six young children have lived in Leesburg for six years. Being part of the Loudoun County community is important to their family, and Hancock Orthodontics is proud to be an active supporter of area sports teams, school PTAs, and other local causes. Dr. Hancock spends his free time as a Boy Scout leader, volunteering for his church, attending his childrens sporting events, and enjoying the outdoors with his family. You may have seen Dr. Hancock and his family walking in the Town of Leesburg Fourth of July parade if you missed them, please look for them again next year!

Excellent Orthodontists! I have taken my daughter for over a year there for her braces. The staff has always been kind but also efficient and professional. My daughter unfortunately broke her leg a couple months ago. They were extremely accommodating and when I missed an appointment because of the many I had been going to for the leg break then they didn't make me feel horrendous for doing so. They are understanding and the dental assistants are very engaging with my daughter making her smile everytime she leaves. Her teeth are really starting to look fantastic.

Dr.Hancock and his staff have been fantastic throughout evaluation and treatment with both my children. They are friendly, thorough, and take their time to answer all questions and explain each step throughout the treatment plan and process. My son sees Dr Hancock and he and his staff are wonderful! He gave us options on his treatment plan with his recommendations and everything has been going great! I also love that I can pay just a set amount every month so I am not hit with any huge bills. Highly recommend!

Dr. Hancock and his staff are nothing short of awesome. Both my mom and sister have gotten their braces done at Hancock Orthodontics and referred me with no hesitation. I got a discount on my braces because I was referred by two people. Everyone is so nice. You get to choose 1 free tie-dye shirt out of 6 options with their business name on the front at your consultation. Let me not forget to mention wearing the shirt gets you rewards if you wear it to your appointments. There are just so many incentives. The office is definitely social media savvy and has advanced and modern technology when it comes to the tools they use. Dr. Hancock really took his time with me to explain everything in detail so I knew what to expect. The thoroughness exceeded my expectations for sure.

Brought my 9 year old in for a consult, was incredibly pleased with their staff and the Dr himself. He's realistic and doesn't try to tell you he wants to do things that aren't needed. Can't wait to bring my son back when the time comes!

I have 1 who just got her braces off and one about to get hers on with Hancock and they have been great. We had our 1st consultation over 3 yrs ago where he told us to wait on braces. Because we waited until her mouth was ready she only had to have her braces for less than a year! We are doing the same with my 12 yr old - spacer now and will wait until all teeth are in to put on the braces for a shorter time. GREAT office staff, easy to get an appointment, no wait time when you come in. Fun kid incentive program of tokens and gift cards - kids want to go to their appointments! Over all excellent experience - 1 kid down 2 more to go and we'll be sticking with Hancock

Dr. Handcock is the absolute best. I have been bothering him with all of my wants for a perfect smile. He has been so honest, patient and comforting through it all. I decided to get Invisalign with his practice and couldn't be happier. Him and his team are so welcoming to the fact that I have a baby with me each check in- they make us fit right in. They have the warmest staff that works with your schedule and continues to adjust to any needs! I highly recommend Handcock orthodontics.

We love Dr. Hancock and his team! My son has severe anxiety over dental work and they have always been patient with him. They never make him feel bad (as a dentist in the past has, hence why he now has anxiety). I am so happy to have found this team!

Top notch orthodontist and staff! Dr. Hancock and Christine, our dental tech, were phenomenal, kind and patient in working with my child, who struggles with sensory issues and anxiety, which can be especially difficult when dealing with his mild outbursts and nervous panic when hands and dental tools are being placed in the mouth. I can't say enough about how well Christine, and Dr. Hancock, worked with my child to show how being understanding, patient, and compassionate can go a long ways to help someone who struggles with getting dental work done. I am so thankful to have such a great team of professionals to take my children to for top notch exceptional care. Genuinely appreciative of the time we were given to address any concerns and struggles with my child's dental care routine. You all made this experience a lot less stressful for us!
