With special training in advanced surgical techniques, and more than 15 years in private practice in addition to serving in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Trotter has developed a focused expertise that goes above and beyond that of a traditional dentist. Oral and facial surgery isnt just one of the services he provides its the service. Whether performing dental implant surgery or wisdom teeth removal, Dr. Trotter is engaging in these procedures several times a week, not just every once in a while.
We make every effort to provide you with the finest surgical care and we work hand in hand with you to maximize your insurance benefits. We are currently participating providers with Delta Dental and Anthem Dental insurances. We will file claims with nearly all insurances to help you optimize your insurance benefits.
Dr. Brad Trotter completed his undergraduate studies and Dental School at Indiana University. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy as a Lieutenant and began his general dentistry career at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. Further tours of duty included Guam and the Washington Navy Yard. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). Subsequently, he served three years as the Oral Surgeon at Naval Hospital, Naples, Italy and then as attending staff at the NMCP residency program. After 13 years of active duty, he continued in the Navy Reserve and retired after 26 years at the rank of Captain.
Dr. Trotter practiced for 14 years at Southside Oral & Facial Surgery in Chester, Hopewell and Petersburg, Virginia before he purchased the practice from Dr. Mrazik in 2016 and starting Hampton Oral & Facial Surgery. He has served as the President of the Southside Dental Society of the Virginia Dental Association, on the Executive Council for the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and as the Treasurer of the Apollonia Dental Study Club, in Richmond, Va. He has been a part-time faculty member of VCU Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Trotter volunteers his time and talent for various Virginia Dental Association programs such as the Mission of Mercy, Donated Dental Services and Give Kids a Smile.
We are proud to announce Dr. Ben Archer treats patients in our practice on a part-time basis. A native of the Tidewater Area, Dr. Archer received his undergraduate education from the University of Virginia.
After being awarded a Navy Health Professions Scholarship, he attended the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). There he was awarded the AAOMS Oral Surgery Dental School Achievement Award. He then went on to complete residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
He currently serves as an attending surgeon at Naval Medical Center Portsmouths residency training program. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interests in dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, orthognathic surgery, bone grafting, reconstructive surgery and temporomandibular joint surgery.
In his spare time, Dr. Archer can be found spending time with his wife, Valeria, who is an Endodontist in Newport News. They enjoy traveling and volunteering in multiple Mission of Mercy Projects throughout Virginia and Texas. Dr. Archer is avid fisherman and enjoys getting to the CrossFit gym as much as he can.

My recent experience at Hampton Oral and Facial Surgery was great! I visited Dr. Trotter for wisdom teeth extraction. All of the staff at this office were extremely nice and the nurses that assisted Dr. Trotter were super helpful and knowledgeable! Dr. Trotter also called and checked up on me later in the evening after the surgery took place. Highly recommend this office!

I am incredibly grateful to have been able to have my wisdom teeth removal here with Dr.Trotter! I had to get all 4 removed, I believe at least 2 were impacted as I had to get stitches on the bottom two. It was very important to me to go to someone I could trust and they delivered wonderfully! Very professional and kind staff. I think they could tell I was scared and they made me feel like I was in good hands. I chose to come here and pay out of pocket as my insurance wouldn't cover and I would do it again! It was well worth it to me. Their credibility from experience was a huge factor of why I chose to come here. They were able to schedule me pretty fast and we're so kind throughout the entire process. I am now fully recovered (so exciting!) and can say that I am just very very grateful that everything went well and am completely back to normal! I seriously cannot thank them enough! 10/10 &they even let me keep my teeth ;)

Dr. Trotter and his staff were awesome when my granddaughter had her wisdom teeth removed. She was treated very well throughout the whole process and Dr. Trotter called us a few hours after the surgery to see how she was doing. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the excellent professional care. Your lovely staff is always courteous and caring. The procedure required multiple visits and each time I was treated as the most important person in the room. I was never made to wait after I arrived for my scheduled appointment. Dr. Trotter, I was anxious about undergoing oral surgery for the first time; your caring manner put me at ease. I chose your specialty practice based on your website information. I was originally referred by my regular dentist to a different specialist. While I don't want to badmouth (pun intended) that practice, I received horrible treatment at that referral (although they promote the practice as #1) and I refused services. Therefore, I was on my own because my referring dentist offered no alternative surgeon. After your treatment, I have now recommended my dentist to refer patients needing oral surgery to your practice. For those of you considering this practice, I wholly recommend Dr. Trotter.

First and foremost, I can absolutely, without a doubt, say that this establishment is run by mere professionals. Back in October, I had to have an infected tooth removed. The two nurses who were by my side during the extraction were absolute angels (I wish I could remember their names) and Dr. Trotter is amazing as well. He makes you feel so comfortable! His energy and over-all demeanor makes you feel so welcome and cared for. After my quick extraction, one of the nurses stayed with me to make sure I was okay. During the procedure they put cold towelettes on my head and neck to keep my anxiety at bay and to calm me down. She also held my hand & wiped my tears. The entire team was phenomenal! Fast forward to today and once again, I had to have a wisdom tooth removed and it was so smooth and painless! It really is painless. They aren't kidding! Was I scared!? ABSOLUTELY! But my nurse and Dr. Trotter once again were so amazing! His bedside manner is, what I believe, what we all hope every dentist in the world could have! He is wonderful! I'm about 5 hours post op now and have had barely any pain! Just minimal soreness as to be expected. I will always go back to Dr. Trotter & his team for any other dental work I may need. I've always referred Hampton Oral & Facial Surgery to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Am very happy with Dr. Trotter and his staff. My husband had 6 implants. Dr. Trotter spent lots of time to answer our questions. His staff are kind, considerate, and professional. We would go back to Dr. Trotter and Dr. Siragusa for any dental problems.

Dr. Trotter and the ladies who prepared me the morning of my 3 wisdom teeth removal did an incredible job keeping me calm and talking me through what was happening without further freaking me out. They were professional, knowledgeable, and I could not have been happier with how easy the whole process was. I am 12 hours post op and aside from the normal wear and tear feel great. Dr.Trotter called me around 5 pm to check in and offer a phone number to answer any further questions. I can't thank them enough for their kindness, and making something I have been dreading for years so easy going!

I cannot say enough about how great my experience has been at Hampton Oral & Facial Surgery. Dr. Trotter and his staff went above and beyond expectation ~ from scheduling, to consultation, to the day of surgery. My procedure was done quickly and expertly, and I was provided with all the information necessary to help with recovery, which included a personal follow up phone call from Dr. Trotter later the same day to check on me and see how I was doing. I highly recommend Dr. Trotter and Hampton Oral & Facial Surgery!

I hadn't had a tooth extraction for over 35 years! Dr Archer, Meagan, and Makayla explained the entire procedure, including bone graft, and future implant in detail. With local anesthetic and gas, the extraction was so quick, like popping a champagne cork. Dr Archer has a very calming voice, and after the extraction, Makayla waited with me until I felt ready to leave. I was given explicit instructions for after care, and prescriptions that had already been called in to my pharmacy of choice. The financial office left me without any questions about the charges. I'd recommend Dr. Archer and staff highly and will continue to utilize their services.
