Hammond Family Dental has cared for families in Poteau, OK, for over 45 years. Now under the ownership of his daughter, Dr. Kendra H. Yandell, our practice remains passionate about helping patients achieve their best overall health through education and gentle, comprehensive care.
Passion for lifelong learning, knowledge of science, interaction with other people, and guidance from her father all led Dr. Kendra Hammond Yandell to the general dentistry profession. Dr. Kendra, DDS, has enjoyed providing excellent dental care in her hometown of Poteau, OK, for over 12 years. Her late father, Dr. Ken Hammond, DDS, owned and operated his dental practice in Poteau since 1975. Dr. Kendra grew up around his practice, helping in every position to deliver gentle, high quality dental care. After she was graduated from Poteau High School in 2000 and completed her bachelors degree in zoology at the University of Oklahoma in 2004, it was an easy career path decision. She was graduated with special distinction from the University of Oklahomas College of Dentistry in 2008 and was recognized with several awards from the Prosthodontics, Endodontic, Pediatric and Operative Departments in addition to receiving the Senior Dental Student Award and the Quintessence Award. She also was inducted in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society.
Instead of pursuing a specialty degree, Dr. Kendra decided to return to Poteau to practice dentistry with her father. She officially purchased the practice in 2010 and then built a new clinic three years later. She re-named the practice Hammond Family Dental in respect and gratitude of her fathers hard work.
Dr. Kendra, her family, and her dental team have worked hard to create a patient experience that provides the highest quality dentistry in a gentle, relaxing atmosphere. She is committed to lifelong education and is dedicated to going above and beyond what is required for her continuing education. Each year she attends courses at Spear Education as well as various local courses covering topics from endodontics to dental technology. Working to achieve fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, she is an active member in the following:
Dr. Kendra and her husband Chad Yandell, a pharmacist at Rubin White Clinic, are blessed with two healthy children, Hammond and Anna Claire. Away from the clinic, Dr. Kendra attends various extracurricular activities with her children and enjoys nature.
Dr. Kendra feels blessed to have come full circle to live and to serve professionally in her hometown. She serves on several church and community councils, and Hammond Family Dental is involved in various community organizations. Thankful for the blessings surrounding her, Dr. Kendra strives to continue providing the highest level of quality dental care and to serve the community. She recognizes her success is based on hard work, a supportive family, and support and care from the community.

My tooth cracked and they made room for me even though I had no appointment. They were super friendly and have very modern equipment, including a combo dentist/massage chair. They are very professional and kind people! Never felt any pain.

[Insert amazing equivalent words here] The staff is more than competent, they're excellent, and friendly as well. Ask about the savings plan, it's great and they will work with you every step. They are transparent with post care information and care about their work and patients. Lovely people. Need to bring back the lobby coffee maker though...

I've been going to Hammond's for many years & the staff are always friendly & professional! Didn't get to see Dr Kendra today but have seen her before & she is also awesome! I know her dad would be very proud of her work & the way she has kept the Hammond name in good standing. I wouldn't go anywhere else !!

First time in almost a decade I had been to a dentist. WHY did I wait so long?! They were all very nice. I explained I didn't have dental insurance and my current financial situation is. They took a lot of time with me and went over all my needed work and prioritized it all based on my exams. They even gave me a printout of the estimated costs associated with each procedure. I was impressed.

I love the staff at Hammond Family dental. They have always gone above and beyond to take care of my families need. Dr. Kendra is very care, patient, and beyond through. Gail and Misti are extremely kind, considerate, and helpful, when it comes to billing and appointment setting. All of the hygienists friendly, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable. I have been with Hammond Family dental since they opened and would not want to trust my families dental care to any other.

Great and Friendly staff! From the front desk office staff to the dental assistants and the Dentist. All great and knowledgeable people. Went in with bad pain and still have that pain, if not then worse. That's not their fault though. They explained my problem very well and did all they could today. So that part put me at ease. I'm going to have to say that it was by far my best dental experience. Thanks again to all that helped me today!

First time visiting their office and we had a great experience. The hygienist did a great job with my two preschoolers and Dr Kendra was very warm and friendly. The ladies at reception were also very sweet too!
