It is in the best interest of your dental and your financial health to avoid Hammock Gardens Dental Care. The first red flag was the unnecessary work that that Kathleen Du Lac wanted to do. My old Dentist, where I moved from, said the work was unnecessary. He was my Dentist for seven years. An earlier post talked about not being given the option for a regular cleaning. I experienced the same pressure. After having a "deep cleaning" completed, a discount was received for paying in full and in cash. One month later Hammock Gardens Dental Care billed me for an extra $44.80. They said their estimate was off and insurance did not cover it. Quite frankly, it is not my problem. I paid in full in cash. It is not about the $44.80. The point is I was paid in full. Imagine if every business was able to bill you later at will after you have paid. Ashley in the office admitted her estimate was off, but insisted I had to pay. An office with ethics would have eaten their incorrect estimate. Having seen this dental scheme before, I knew what I was dealing with. So, I agreed to pay and immediately terminated any future dealings with this money printing operation disguised as a Dentists office. I recommend you stay away from Kathleen Du Lac and Hammock Gardens Dental Care. She is just another Tooth Hunter who give Dentists a bad name.

The staff at this location are very friendly and do their best to answer whatever questions you might have with services. Dr. DuLac is very professional and doesn't mind explaining things in a manner that is informative and helpful. The only reason this would not be 5 stars is the wait time is typically really long. Waiting more than 30 minutes to pick up ortho trays isn't good but I understand they are always busy. Just would be nice to be called back promptly.

Today was my very first time at this dentist office. First time in a very long time I have felt comfortable at a dentist. Not only do they really care about their patients but they also talk to you like a normal human being. I was nervous going in because of how I've been treated at other dentist offices in the past. After leaving, I'm very thankful I found this place. Thank you to all the staff for actually caring.

I've taken care of my teeth my entire life - 6 month check ups since I was a baby, brush and floss twice/daily, get dental work done as recommended when issues arise. I went to this dentist (Kathleen DuLac) as a new patient. I moved to NSB, read the google reviews and found a dentist in network. I THOUGHT this would be a good place to go. I went for a 6 month checkup, had no pain, no bothersome places in my mouth. This place is financially driven to generate sales versus placing patient care first. I think the problem is that most patients trust their dentist and the advice they provide. But this dentist is more like a "buyer (or patient) beware" environment. They will try to squeeze every penny out of you instead of doing what is best for the patient - which includes both health and cost for the patient. This place told me I had periodontal disease and wouldn't let me have a normal cleaning, like literally wouldn't let me. They pushed hard and repeatedly for me to have a special cleaning with antibiotics applied. The dental hygienist was rough during the procedure. It was the end of her day and she was painfully scraping my gums. They were tender for days afterwards. Furthermore, the dentist recommended that I need at least 1 crown and 5 fillings. In my opinion, they've created this system where first they take X-rays. Next the dental hygienist tells you all these things are wrong with you. Soon thereafter, the dentist comes in and repeats that all these things are wrong with you. The very minute the dentist leaves the room, the front desk employee enters the equation, sits down next to you with a print out of everything wrong, and asks you to sign the dotted line like you're going to pay for all this unnecessary work. The reason I know this is because they did a similar thing to my partner when he had his appointment the next day. For him, they took x-rays that insurance didn't cover. The specific level of x-rays that they took are only covered every 5 years. However, more generic x-rays would have been covered. Shame on them for not telling him beforehand so he could decide if he wanted those at the added cost or not. He trusted the dentist to understand what his insurance covered and inform him of items not covered. Why should he have to double check the specifics of coverage? Isn't that part of why they look at insurance before putting a patient in the chair? Here's how mine actually panned out since my intuition was telling me to not trust this place. I went to a dentist out of town who I've seen before and trusted. I brought him the papers and X-rays from Hammock Gardens to get a second opinion. He said I do not have periodontal disease, do not need any crowns and needed 4 small fillings. Hammock Gardens was even overstating how many sides of the teeth I needed fixed on each filling so that they could bill more. Hammock Gardens said I needed $4941.00 ($1268.30 with my insurance) worth of work done. After going to a trustworthy dentist, I spent $264 on 4 small fillings. I also avoided a crown which is obviously a non-reversible procedure. I have no idea how this dentist has so many favorable reviews. I think that some of their employees are incentivized to create accounts and write reviews. If you would like to overspend and be fear mongered, go right ahead and see this dentist. Otherwise, I would strongly recommended you search for another place in town that cares more about "care" and less about profit. Notice the diamond on the dentist's hand. She's sitting pretty financially from the looks of it. Seeing as though I only had the fear mongered antibiotic cleaning done, I cannot attest to the skills of the dentist so my rating has nothing to do with that particular aspect of dental care. One positive note is that the office was clean and staff were friendly. Main takeaway..... buyer beware

Had a filling done a few months back, I noticed that the filling seemed to be sinking in towards the gum and food was getting caught in it, so while flossing the whole filing came out. I call and the quickest they could get me scheduled is Monday, I called Thursday morning. I figured this would be an emergency, but not to them. I told them I'm going on a trip this weekend and would like to be able to chew and enjoy my food. Time to find a new dentist.

Long term dentist phobia.... and dental staff and dental office phobia. All things dental related create great anxiety inside me. Everyone was simply wonderful and sweet and I survived and am willing to go back. Great people.... great office layout... and quite relaxing. I highly recommend Dr. Penland in particular!

Please GO ELSEWHERE!! If it were possible NOT to leave a star I would. Here is my experience: I called several months ago, they were not accepting any new patients. The same day my husband called and was able to make a new patient appointment. I then call the next day and was able to make a new patient appointment, I did. Little did I know they use a service to answer questions and set appointments. The woman I spoke to (I was, of course thinking I, was speaking to the dental front office personnel) set it up, I gave her all of my information twice, but I was happy, I had an appointment. It was for a month out, so I was ready to wait. Then, later that same day I received a call from a girl stating that their answering service doesn't always know what questions to ask and hours/days new patient appointments were to be made, therefore they needed to reschedule the appointment. Ok, it's now a different day. Then she said that she needs all my information again, including insurance because my first appointment was deleted. So, I provide it, again. Then, a DAY before my appointment I receive a call from the dental office stating that they have to reschedule my appointment due to no dentist available. It was to be three weeks later. Whatever, things happen. Then, I received a call last week to confirm my appointment, I did. Monday, 4 days before my appointment I receive a text (though I never approved of this) to confirm my appointment, I RESPOND, "YES" then I opted out. Tuesday, I receive 2 phone calls but I'm unavailable to answer, a message was left stating to call back, but no reason for the call. I called back, no one answered, I left a message. The next day, which is a day before my appointment, I call, and surprise, no one answers. I left yet another message. This time I did receive a call back and confirmed my appointment (again). A few minutes later a girl calls me and said that my appointment has been canceled because I never confirmed my appointment. I said I did, twice and explained that I sent a yes text response. She interrupted me and made the excuse again that the answering service doesn't always know things. I am completely irritated and confused about how the dentists run their practice. I was never given the information that they would cancel your appointment. I have NEVER had a medical/dental appointment canceled because of non v2v confirmation (though I did 2x). The girl kept saying, "ma'am, that's the policy and it was given away to someone who needed it. But I can try to get you in earlier." Uhm, no thanks and I hung up. This "policy" is rude, unprofessional, tacky and reflects poorly on the entire practice. I have never had this happen anywhere. I'm super disappointed. My husband will also be going elsewhere in the future as he has had issues as well.

I had an urgent appointment with Dr. Dulac today at Hammock Gardens Dental Care and was treated with the utmost care by Dr. Dulac and her entire staff. I felt really well taken care of by everyone. Dr. Dulac explained everything thing to me in detail and gave me next steps so I would know what to do. I would highly recommend Dr.Dulac, her staff, and Hammock Gardens Dental Care.

As most, I am not a fan of the dentist but my experience here has been very well and I'm not apprehensive to come back. I just had some cavities filled and my dentist and tech made me feel comfortable, listened to my requests and provided me with a safe and comfortable energy. Glad to have found a long term dental service care
