Dr. Shannon Samuelsfamily & cosmetic dental practice is located in the historic Hamilton House in Geneva, Illinois. We understand how uneasy some patients may feel about their dental visits, and how we can make a difference in providing a relaxing and positive experience. Our entire team is dedicated to providing you with excellent, personalized care and service to make your visits to our Geneva, IL family & cosmetic dental office as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
As a general dentist. Dr. Samuels provides oral healthcare to patients ages 3 and up. Specifically, she helps to prevent decay and other oral diseases by providing care such as cleanings and fluoride treatments. She will also diagnose and treat oral diseases and conditions. Restoring your mouth to a healthy and optimum condition may involve placing or replacing white fillings, crowns or onlays, implants, or possibly fabricating dentures. To provide comprehensive oral care, she combines new evidence based dentistry with twenty-eight years of experience to restore and treat with optimum esthetics and function in mind. Occasionally, if more extensive treatment is required you may be referred to a nearby carefully selected specialist for additional care. As always, Dr. Samuels will discuss all of your treatment options with you, and help create the plan thats right for you.
Originally, from Nebraska, Dr. Samuels graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a B.S. in biology, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry with a D.D.S. degree. Additionally, she completed a residency in general practice at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. Treating patients from diverse communities such as the inner city of Chicago, to the rural settings of Dekalb has enlightened her perspective of general dentistry. As a resident of Geneva since 1994, however, she is happy to support and treat patients in this community and has done so for the past 17 years. Hamilton House Dentistry was established in 2007, and is located in the renovated Hamilton House (circa 1908). It sits in the heart of Geneva, close to the infamous shopping district, and not far from home.
Hamilton House Dentistry was designed with patient comfort as a priority. From the Ergo-soothe patient massage chairs in each operatoryto the coffee and healthy snacks found in our waiting room, we strive to make our patients feel comfortable. While Hamilton House Dentistry is very home-like and relaxing, we maintain the highest standards of sterilization and OSHA compliance. Our equipment, instruments and dental materials are often updated to deliver the latest technologies. The doctor and staff regularly attend continuing education seminars to empower our patients with dental knowledge, we also strive to comfort and reassure them during treatment.
Hamilton House Dentistry is located on the North side of Hamilton Street, between 3rd and 4th street. Parking is available in front of the office on either the North or South side of Hamilton Street. Once parked, follow the red brick sidewalk on the East side of Hamilton House and enter through the red door. We are the 1st office on the right, Suite C. Our convenient nearby location is close to schools, shops, and home.

I've been going here for years and the Dr has always been rude. They don't inform you on what your insurance will cover. I've never really had a problem with the routine cleaning. I was told I needed a mouth guard but they never gave me one even though they said they would. But I had to get a crown put in. The doctor does not do anything to calm you during procedures. No gas. Just a small dose of lorazepam that did absolutely nothing. I have always had issues with the dentist, I had a traumatic experience as a child with brushing my teeth so brushing them, the dentist, and anything to do with teeth has been an issue with me. I had never had a crown before and my anxiety was through the roof. I hummed the entire time to stop myself from screaming. I gripped the arm chair so hard I left indents on it. My body was so tense during it I was sore all over for days later. I had horrible diarrhea the morning of the procedure. After it was over, I never went back and haven't been to a dentist since. It's been 4 years. I've dealt with this with my therapist so I can try to go back to a dentist. I'm having an even tougher time brushing. I'm having nightmares. She retraumatized me and it's been a very difficult experience. I am considering the idea of suing because of how bad it's gotten. I have never felt so traumatized by a doctor and I have been dealing with many doctors my entire life. Do not go to the woman, she will only hurt you.

So she tells me I have a cavity, and then told me she would see me in 6 months ? um... I thought I had a cavity? I mentioned I needed my wisdom teeth out before I go to college (which is soon) and she gave me 0 info on that. Thanks !! (this was all with Dr samuels) I already had a bad experience getting my first cavity filled (I thought i was just being dramatic) but now this strange encounter... will not be returning.

Dr. Samuels genuinely cares about her patients. Sure all doctors may perform an exam, look at your X-rays, and boom there's your treatment plan but with Dr. Samuels you get explanation and clarity. The office is also unique and nothing like a typical dental office. You get an "at home" feeling even with all the pandemic protocols. Great small private practice.

Had my teeth cleaned today by Darien and what an experience!!! I was very overdue (6yrs to be honest) and let me tell you how pleasant my visit was. Gentle, informative, and overall kind. She turned on the massage chair and just got to cleaning. She never passed judgement & simply explained the importance of coming every 6 months. Great job Hamilton House!!! See you in 6 months.

Very sweet and attentive, answers all questions and is willing to work with you no matter the issue. I've never felt rushed or devalued as a patient. My children are also patients here and love it!
