Dr. John Hamerink graduated in 2004 from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Movement Science. After his undergraduate degree, Dr. Hamerink completed his Masters of Science degree in Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2010 with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Dr. John Hamerink was born and raised in the Plymouth where his father, Dr. Howard Hamerink, established Hamerink Dental in 1978. Upon graduating Dr. John joined his father in private practice in the Plymouth office and finds enjoyment to be practicing back in his hometown.
Post graduation in addition to the private practice, Dr. John held a dental position at the Michigan Department of Corrections dental clinics in Jackson and Huron Valley from 2010 to 2013. In 2010, Dr. John accepted a position at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where he is on faculty and lectures dental students as a Director of the Pathways Curriculum, as well as instructing dental students in clinical dental procedures. Dr. John acts as a mentor and guide to his dental students, and as the assistant deputy of the Delta Sigma Delta professional dental fraternity.
Dr. Johns passion is not only surgical dentistry but also community and family dentistry. He believes every patient deserves personalized dental care with a focus on holistic treatment of individual risk factors. He enjoys treating children, adults, geriatric, and special needs patients.
Dr. John prioritizes continuing dental education coursework, where he spends countless hours to learn all facets of dentistry including cosmetic and implant dentistry as well administration of botox. Dr. Hamerink is also very involved with with all facets of organized dentistry. He currently is on the District Dental Society board as the editor. Furthermore, he participates regularly as a delegate to the Michigan Dental Association.
Dr. John is passionate about the Plymouth community he grew up in, and believes that involvement in the community that he practices, is extremely important. He is on the Board of Directors of the Plymouth Rotary Club, an active member of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, and sponsors local children's sports teams and events.
Dr. Hamerink received his doctorate in Dentistry from The University of Michigan. His extensive background as an educator brings unmatched expertise to his patients. This includes time as an Assistant Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School before joining the faculty at The University of Michigan in 1979. He mentored students there until 1993. Dr. Hamerink then rejoined the faculty six years later, and currently serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor. He instructs in the comprehensive care clinic, focusing on impression techniques and dental implants.
Along with maintaining his private practice in Plymouth, Dr. Hamerink evaluates and tests a dental resin system, co-investigates clinical studies, coordinates the development of the department's digital image library, and is developing a Primary Prosthodontic Care model. He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and serves as an evaluator of dental materials for the Dental Advisor.
Lisa's love for dentistry is still strong after many years in the dental field. She enjoys providing excellent patient care and developing long lasting relationships with each patient. Lisa has been with Hamerink Dental since 2010 and is part of the MDA's Certified Dental Business Professional Program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children.
AnnaRose has been with Dr. Hamerink since she was 15 years old. She began her career as a dental assistant. In 2007, she graduated from Lansing Community College with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. The most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of her career is the relationships she cultivates with the patients. AnnaRose is friendly, outgoing and great at explaining what is required to maintain good oral hygiene! She stays busy on her time away from work with her husband and two sons.
Kristina grew up in the Plymouth area. She acquired her dental hygiene degree from the University of Michigan and has been with Hamerink Dental since 2004. Kristina enjoys getting to know her patients individually to provide high quality dental care! In her free time, Kristina enjoys working out and spending time with her husband and three daughters vacationing in northern Michigan.
Lucia has been a dental hygienist for over 15 years. She graduated with honors from Dental Hygiene school at Algonquin College in Ontario, Canada and has a well rounded experience in family and community dental clinics. Lucia prides herself on sincerely caring about the wellbeing and comfort of patients. Outside of the office she enjoys simple family pleasures with her husband and three daughters.
Stacey joined our office in September of 2009. She has been employed as a dental assistant since 1989! With her bright smile and bubbly personality, she makes our patients feel comfortable in the office. In her spare time, Stacey loves doing yoga, oil painting and cruising on her husband's Harley Davidson motorcycle. She is an enthusiastic gardener as well.
Isabella started with us in December of 2017. She enjoys splitting her time at our office between assisting Dr. John & working at the front desk. Bella is also a part of our marketing team, working to make Hamerink Dentals presence greater known! Maintaining the highest level of customer service at the desk and guaranteeing her patients are as comfortable as possible when in the dental chair are her highest priorities. In her down time, she enjoys spending it with her two daughters and large extended family.
As a former medical practice owner, Angie is excited to learn and grow in all things dental. Creating positive patient experiences and building relationships is her top priority at Hamerink Dental. In her free time, Angie enjoys CrossFit, kayaking and new adventures with her 3 children.

My dentist of 30 years closed last year. I researched for a new dentist near me and made an appointment at hamerink dental. My first visit was one to appreciate. I was welcomed the moment I arrived. Lisa and Angela were very polite and helped me to sign in. Dr. John came out and welcomed me with a warm hand shake. I realized I made a good decision. My 1st check up was with Kristina the hygienist. She gave me a complete check up and cleaning. Dr. John recommended a few procedures needed fixed. Very satisfied with the professionalism of my visit and knowing I made the right choice. Thank you.

Spectacular dentist! I trust and really like Dr. John! I travel from out of state(as far as California!) to see Dr. John for my dentistry. He is the only one I can trust! He told me that a crown was improperly done by a different dentist and that it needed to be redone. He has cared for me throughout my military career. I am a HORRIBLE patient- very nervous, very neurotic and Dr. John is VERY patient with me. He is very kind and gentle. He takes into account my situation and emotional status when treating me. I am very fearful of the dentist and pain- he ensures that I am properly numbed before any treatments. I am so grateful to him and his office. He has some very gentle hygienists there as well! Lisa (she manages the front desk) is very kind and helps with any insurance issues as well as any juggling of appointments! She is spectacular about trying to squeeze you in so you can be seen! I had lost a filling and we originally thought my appointment wouldn't be until a month later but she called saying they had an opening and that I could be seen in a week! Just spectacular care! Thank God for all of them this is the ONLY PLACE I TRUST. Dr John is also respectful of my holistic views and not wanting to use fluoride, while he doesn't agree, he always comes to a compromise to respect and accomodate my views

I have a child with special needs who really struggles at the dentist. I could not have had a better experience at Hamerink Dental. They were so patient with him, so kind, they took time to explain and help him feel more comfortable. By the end of the visit he willingly hopped up on the chair without even needing me to sit with him which has NEVER happened before. I'm so thankful for everyone there, it's a wonderful practice.

I am a new patient to Hamerink Dental Clinic. The staff was caring, and customer driven. The Doctor was amazing, compassionate, and established a dental plan after reviewing my teeth with me personally. I would highly recommend this office to everyone.

Great Dental practice. Family owned and run. State of the art equipment. Dr. John is knowledgeable, friendly, caring and exceptional in his practice. I feel comfortable and completely confident in his care. The entire staff is professional and pleasant. The office and rooms are always clean. Great care has always been taken with the pandemic. The entire staff is very friendly. They always do a great job of cleaning my teeth. Many members of my family have went to them over the years. The safety precautions that they are using amid the Covid-19 pandemic made me feel very safe while I was there. I would recommend Hamerink Dental to anyone.

I have been going to Hammerink Dental for over 40 years. Doctor Howard and Doctor John are not only skilled in their profession, they both are kind and gentle. I have anxiety going to the dentist, but they take great care in making sure I have zero pain and that I am comfortable. I was born with bad teeth genes but these two have done amazing work to keep my smile something I can be proud of! Thank you Dr. Hammerink!!
