Halpern Kenneth L DDS - General dentist in Roslyn Heights, NY

Following graduation, Dr. Halpern completed a one year residency in general dentistry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, one of the most sought after residencies in the country. Throughout that year, her focus was clearly oral and maxillofacial surgery. In addition, Emily was a winner of The Long Island Jewish Schneider Children and Hillside Hospitals Annual Academic Competition, where she competed against the other residents of these hospitals. Dr. Halpern then completed 4 additional years at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and obtained her advanced degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As chief resident, she taught oral surgery to the dental students and residents at the State University of Stony Brook Hospital, Northport Veterans Administration Hospital as well as at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She placed special emphasis on dental implant surgery, however she is highly experienced in facial trauma, the treatment of dentofacial deformities, removal of cysts and tumors of the jaws, and removal of impacted and erupted teeth. Dr. Halpern has extensive experience using all the minimally invasive techniques available to our practice today.

Dr. Kenneth L. Halpern trained at Georgetown University Dental School where he received his D.D.S degree. He graduated Cum Laude in 1974. At that time he was inducted into Omega Kappa Upsilon, the honorary dental fraternity (phi beta kappa).

Following dental school Dr. Halpern continued his education at Georgetown where he completed the advanced residency training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery, receiving a Master of Science degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Halpern has been practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery in the New York metropolitan area for 25 years and is an attending surgeon at North Shore/ Long Island Jewish Hospital and North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove.

Dr. Halpern began placing dental implants 18 years ago when implant dentistry was in its infancy in this country. Dental implants have since become the focus of his practice and he has placed thousands of implants to date. Today the vast majority of his practice revolves around minimally invasive implant placement and related procedures.

In 1994 Dr. Halpern developed the surgical techniques involved in minimally invasive implant placement, allowing this surgery to be performed without the use of gum flaps or sutures, thus eliminating the swelling and bruising as well as almost all of the discomfort associated with dental implant placement. Subsequent innovations developed by Dr. Halpern allow for minimally invasive bone grafting procedures as well.

I am writing a review based on the management of this office not the standard of dental care. I had work done in November 2021 and my dental claim still had not made it to my insurance company. The office was disorganized and the office manager was rude. Not a great way to represent a pratice.

Excellent bed side manner, I started having an anxiety attack while Dr. Emily Halpbern was pulling my wisdom tooth. Both her and her assistant were very helpful in calming me down. They even changed the music to my favorite band. Thank you so much! You were all wonderful! - Thomas S

I had an awesome experience. From the moment I stepped into Dr. Halpern's office I felt comfortable. The staff did their best to make sure I felt comfortable before and after my wisdom teeth procedure. Dr. Emily Halpern even called the day after to follow up and make sure I was doing well. Highly recommend.

I am writing a review based on the management of this office not the standard of dental care. My mom was referred to Halpern for some dental work (implants) and 2 months prior to her procedure I spoke with the office manager on what the expectation of costs would be since I would be paying out of pocket for the work. During that call it was explained to me what was required with the cost and then on the day of the procedure the price discussed was doubled. Since my mom already made a trip to the appointment and was in Halpern's office I asked to speak with Halpern regarding why on the day of the appointment the pricing for the work was doubled and after waiting for 15 minutes on hold he never got on the phone with me and then I was told by the office manager that my choice was to either send my mom home or to move forward with the procedure. The office manager did convey that they could cut the cost if only one implant was done instead of two (which would be a short-cut treatment). The way this was handled in my opinion was unprofessional, first, the double pricing on the day of the appointment, second with Halpern refusing to get on the phone with me to discuss, and third, the office not keeping me informed since they were aware I was paying for the work and that English is not my mom's first language. All of the foregoing displays to me the systematic way the office is ran (i.e. money first vs. patient care).

I have had surgical work by Dr. Halpern several times over the past years, and I have nothing but praise for the quality of his work, the behind-the-scenes consultations between him and my regular dentist, and the professionalism of the clinical staff assistants. The office management seems quite acceptable, although the fees clearly reflect today's premium for really professional dental care, including the plentiful office staff to keep things going smoothly.
