A native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Dr. Hagert received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Delaware in 1996. After graduation, she spent two years at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where she was engaged in cellular biology research. In 2002, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Hagert completed a residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia where she received advanced training in general dentistry.
Dr. Hagert is licensed to practice general dentistry in Maryland from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. She is certified in Invisalign adult orthodontics treatments and has participated in multiple Spear Institute seminars and workshops specializing in esthetic excellence, comprehensive treatment planning, and occlusion. She is a member of the Maryland State Dental Association, Eastern Shore Dental Society, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics.
Prior to establishing her own practice in Chestertown several years ago, Dr. Hagert practiced dentistry in Virginia for 16 years with a focus on high-fear patients and complex treatment plans. She is married to Christopher Hagert, an Annapolis native. They have two young children, Harris-Emily and Hudson.
While Dr. Hagert enjoyed a rewarding dental career in Virginia, her longstanding goal was to return to Maryland to be closer to family who live in the area. Her husbands family lives in Centreville, and his grandparents were Heron Point residents for many years in Chestertown, as well as former patients of Dr. Pelczars.
Katlyn is a dental assistant with nine years of experience. She received her certificate as an expanded functions dental assistant in 2010 from Chesapeake College. She has been with Hagert Family Dentistry since April 2019. Katlyn and her husband live in Centreville with their two little boys, Tucker and Troy.
Ann is a dental assistant, certified in radiology and CPR. She has 40 years of experience as a chairside assistant working alongside Dr. Pelczar until he retired in 2018, and then Dr. Hagert. She is a Kent County native who enjoys working in her hometown community. Currently she lives in Worton with her husband, Dave. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.
Rachel is a dental assistant, certified in radiology and CPR. She received her certificate as a dental assistant from Chesapeake College in 2018. She has been with Hagert Family Dentistry since November 2020. Rachel and her fianc live in Barclay. She enjoys spending time with her family, dogs, gardening, and hiking.
Cheryl Schrader is a dental hygienist with over five years of experience. She graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Patient care, connection, and education are of utmost importance to Cheryl. She also takes pride in the lasting relationships she establishes with patients. A native of the Eastern Shore, Cheryl enjoys the outdoors and helping with her family farm operation. She and her husband, Brad, along with two children, Hayden and Madelynn, reside in Church Hill. When away from the dental chair, Cheryls passions include fitness, photography, and especially spending time with family.
Sherry is a front desk / administrative assistant who brings with her over 25 years of administrative and customer service experience gained from working in the dental and medical practice field. She prides herself on providing personalized, face-to-face patient care while developing strong, caring relationships with patients. A graduate of Queen Annes County High School, she and her husband, Ron, reside on the Eastern Shore where they have raised two wonderful children, Kyle and Lauren. In addition to her love of animals (rescued pets and backyard chickens), she enjoys flea marketing, antiquing, gardening and entertaining.
Katie is a dental hygienist with over 4 years of experience. She graduated from CCBC in 2017. She is passionate about getting to know our patients and making them feel relaxed during their dental hygiene visit. She is eager to share her dental knowledge to maintain a healthy smile. Katie resides in Goldsboro with her husband, Thomas and son, Bowen. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dogs.

Dr. Hagert is amazing. I feel like I have trauma from other dentists numbing me with that shot and it hurt so bad I would cry just thinking about it. Dr Hagert numbed me and I did not feel a thing! Not a thing! If you have any fears or trauma about dentists, she is the one to go to! She and her staff are all wonderful :)

Very kind and professional doctors in this office. Dr. Hagert and her team seem to float from room to room with decisive action. I have VERY poor dental health and not once have they made me feel any less because of it. Instead the team here lifts me up and helps me make informed decisions about my situation. I will say, as a person without dental insurance, the price here is slightly higher than your average local dentist's office but it is well worth the environment and quality of service. I have clinical anxiety which is triggered every time I enter a dentist's office. My heartrate rises and I sweat profusely and just leaving, suddenly isn't out of the question. However, these kind professionals took the time to care for that and make sure I was comfortable. Something simple as dousing my forehead and using compressed air to cool me down went a very long way in the the way I felt in the chair as I had three teeth pulled at once. Something no other dentist has seemed to even care about. I've been to two other dentist's office in Chestertown and neither was as equipped nearly as well from a professional or technological standpoint. This office seemed to be cleaner and more sterile than the other's as well. That also went a long way in making me feel like the whole place was very much a medical establishment as opposed to the feeling of halfhearted care I received from the other establishments. 10/10 would recommend you take your whole family to this office.

My experience with Dr.Hagert was awesome, superb etc. I don't have any fear of dentists. I just ask them to be careful as I am a trumpet player. Dr. Hagert and her staff provide the best service and environment I have experienced in 30 years. The conversation she holds with patients and her assistants enhances the dental experience. I was totally blown away when I received a "check-up" call from her the day after a procedure. What more can you ask for? I 'd give them 10 stars if I could.

Dr. Hagert cares a great deal about patient comfort. I was honestly moved by how careful and attentive she was when I had cavities filled for the first time. Really grateful to have her in the neighborhood as my family's dentist.

I have been avoiding the dentist for years. I've also been paying for dental insurance through work for years. I finally decided I'd go. So happy I went to Dr. Hagert. Everyone was fantastic. Super nice!! I have horrible anxiety with going to the dentist but dr hagert is amazing. Her staff is very friendly and also great with kids. The only down fall is getting appointments. It seems she's booked up pretty quick .
