Dr. Hagarty was born in Mississippi and raised in Central Iowa. He grew up seeing dentistry firsthand by watching and learning from his father and older brother, who are also dentists. In 2001 he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Biology, and in 2005, he earned his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Hagarty is constantly upgrading his dental knowledge and skills with continuing education courses so he can provide his patients with the latest general, restorative, and cosmetic treatments. He participates in the annual Iowa Mission of Mercy, in which he and some 200 dentists use their dental skills to help the underprivileged receive the care they need. As an active member of the dental community, he belongs to the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, and the Johnson County Dental Society.
Dr. Hagarty and his wife, Germaine, have 2 young daughters which keep them very busy. When he is not helping patients or spending time with his family, Dr. Hagarty enjoys hunting, fishing, tinkering in his workshop, participating in endurance events, and hiking with his two dogs. As a dentist, Dr. Hagarty strives to stay current in the field and is strongly motivated to relieve his patients of the effects of poor oral health and help to create beautiful smiles.
Mariann has been with our practice for 7 years. She earned her associate degree from Kirkwood Community College in 2007. Mariann is active in the dental community and is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Iowa Dental Hygiene Association. She also has experience as a Colgate oral health advisor.
Mariann has been married to her husband, Shawn, for seven years. They have three children. In her free time, Mariann enjoys cooking, making crafts with her kids, and spending time with family. As a dental hygienist at Hagarty Family Dental, she appreciates the family-like environment, and she strives to help patients feel at ease in our office.
Alyssa started working at Hagarty Family Dental last fall. Alyssa contributes to the friendly atmosphere in our office, and her love for helping patients achieve strong oral health shows in the work she does.

I don't think that I have ever had a better experience at the dentist. 5 stars for everything including: polite and professional staff, comfortable environment, scheduling is available within very reasonable timeframe, and last but not least the high quality of work. Thank you Dr. Hagarty and staff for the great experience, Im so glad I found you guys!!

I've gone to hagerty dental for YEARS now with NO issues ever. I have 2 kids who also go here and love this dentist!! We moved out of town and still drive over an hour to come here the staff is always so friendly and i love that it's the same dentists every single time he is always so nice and funny and makes any appointment a breeze. As someone who hates dental work this dentist definitely makes it more bearable. We will continue to go here forever :)

I have used a number of different dentists over the years and I have to say Hagarty Family Dental is as good as it gets. The staff are all very friendly and thorough and Dr Hagarty is very professional and always looking out for the long term health of your teeth. I highly recommend them!

I first found Dr Hagarty through a co-worker. My experiences have been superb. Dr Hagarty never tries to upsell you as other dentists have for me. He and his staff are friendly and efficient. I highly recommend him.

Always a fantastic experience here, always greeted with a very polite and helpful staff. The dental hygienist is always so gentle, and Dr Hagarty is always a great listener to my dental needs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place to keep a healthy smile.

I never spend more than a couple of minutes in the waiting room, if any at all. They know who I am when I walk in the door and usually get me right into a chair & get started. Dr Hagarty is very friendly and never pressures me to buy things or get extra work done. He explains the procedures along with their urgency and cost and then puts the decision in my hands. The tv overhead is a nice distraction & the office is very clean. A great experience!

Hagerty Dental provides excellent dental care with a very friendly, warm and professional staff ! I have received several crowns, fillings and teeth cleanings there and have been very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Hagerty Dental to anyone !

Great dentist! Explains things as he goes, thorough, and produces great cosmetic results. Was able to fit me in quickly when my former dentist suddenly quit and I had an urgent issue.
